  1. Almost done, just waiting for the seeds to mature and turn nice and dark. This mother plant is cheese from fastbuds and the pollen is from a reversed top gun by atlas seeds.

  2. I have flipped the tent and trimmed the branches in preparation for the stretch and preflower phase. I have also put the pots into the autopot trays and have activated the reservoir. I feel there is little doubt now that the roots are well established, much more so than done previously. Canopy is also looking level. I've tried my best to LST the major branches to all be on the same level. Some plants have stretched more than others already, but I think I've managed to control the most of it. From the atrocious past run this is already looking much better. I was worried big tents were just cursed. Otherwise in another tent I already have some more ZxP on the way, looking scrumptious. I have the harvest date set for 11 May. Will take some trichome pics on the day.

  4. I'm already in kak for taking up half the freezer space. Luckily I'll be starting the Hash making tomorrow or Saturday. Due to remote living we need the freezer space for important stuff like food. WTF? This is the first time I'm using terp loc grove bags and they will be re - used but mostly I'm using my collection of mason jars. I'm going to try using one of those black tote bins for now and hopefully that will work till I get to town in a couple of weeks. Yep. Can't buy fucking jam jars out here and 300 bucks petrol to the nearest place and back that do stock it. In the meantime I have put a 3g for 1 jar offer on the Bush Telegraph bartering group. Fighting humidity 101 here but getting there. Did a little test run with a couple of hands full of trim with my latest purchase. My wife got sent to town on a mission by her boss.

  6. 100% - and sometimes you even just end up with genetics that together create something special to run through. Each combination is so unique, depending on how each plant breeds. Sometimes you run an F1 population even, and find some really unique expressions that weren't really too prevalent in the plants used. But I do like F2s for their recessive traits. When it comes to flipping seed vs clone - it depends at which point in the project we are. When we are running testers we will run them from seed initially and flower them out, because we want to gauge what the average grower would get out of them. No good having plants that thrive from clone but grow terribly from seed. But you're right, we typically run plants from cut for quite a number of times before ensuring it's worth working with or sticking around and we do still take cuts of our tester runs, as you never know when something special pops up. It's not uncommon for me to have 50+ cuts rooting at one time. This can be a bit of a pain, but with just 2 of the regular clone domes (large ones) you can typically fit around 36 cuts. So just two of those is typically enough. To help minimize the requirement of cuts at one time, I take 2 cuts off each pheno just before flip and then if they haven't rooted by week 2 of flower, I take 2 additional cuttings as backup. Usually, 90% or more of cuts are rooted in the first phase. Backcrosses are good, but they are also best used when you really understand the genetics and the way they breed. BX is typically used to re-enforce certain traits. The plant you backcross to will be re-enforced by bringing more of those genetics back into the line. But this can also go really wrong if you backcross to a plant that has negative traits (stretchiness, low yield, etc.) I personally think it's important to test out a few beans of anything before gifting them out even, just so one can give them an idea of what to expect. The impacts of someone getting a tent full of herms can permanently impact your reputation and those people won't remember whether they were free or not, just the experience. Or just make sure they are aware its untested. If one isn't breeding with particular goals in mind, the other option that is good for just running through beans to find something special, is to do an open pollination with multiple males pollinating the same females at the same time. While this means you can't really reuse a male, it does mean the resulting seeds will have more diversity. If the goal is simply to find something special.

  7. So the smoke report is top. Very earthy, nice change after all the candy and fruits I’ve grown lately. Got a buddy who is obsessed with it. Looking for more seeds like a madman. Seeing his reaction I was thinking of enter ring it in the stonedolympics homegrown comp. Actually never been, anyone with experience? Ended with about 80g of top nugs and did a (poorly) bubble hash run with the trim and popcorn, with some other trim and stuff as well. My drying area was off as well, 24 °C and around 75% hum, so after 2 weeks and still no snap I stuck them in open terploc bags in the fridge, seemed to work. Had a humidity meter and got them closed and steady at 64-62. Lucky to not get any mold as the area is very well ventilated Bud shots up soon. 8. Not really all that much, I think it's the placement. Our yard is on a slight slant and that's the lowest corner of the yard so the soil stays moist and the area is naturally humid, also got the house built in the corner there with 2 walls next to it and the house is about a meter away from it, you can kinda see it in the second photo, building with the beams on is the house. So it's a "dank" corner hahah never gets hit with sun all around, but when I do get low humidity in there it's still 3 to 5% higher than outside of it and the cacti want low humidity. Still in the 20% range in there, though. Colder, slower, higher humidity months I pump that big metal fan. The water pipes run along the roof, the deep corener side got a little fern collection, got misters on a timer so if I need to raise humidity I can, but I never need to.
