June 12 Felt a bit anxious to update, as the grow has been having some complications. However, teaching myself to learn to accept error and being okay with mistakes is part of the reason I got into this . Wrote this update while quite cheesed btw, so apologies for sentence structure. Reflection/Things I will do differently next time. 1.) Train completely differently.. My lawd. You'll see what I mean by my photos at the bottom. I started by following guides and examples. These are EXAMPLES (Not my plants) I was aiming to follow, in order of growth: Instead, I was very overzealous (First time excitement) and ended up keeping the plants very low constantly to try and achieve the most "even" canopy Ending up with a plant very low and close to the grow medium, little to no stretch. An extreme version of this: In hindsight this has made watering a nightmare, as its difficult to get the water under the canopy without it touching the leaves. Have had many leaves get nute burn on them via being touched by the feed. This makes diagnosing possible nutrient issues more difficult, as it could be either from feed touching the leaf, or something else. 2.) Use gardening rubber soft ties for LST. Every guide does this, everyone uses it. So why didn't I? Idk. I used galvanized steel binding wire from a hardware store, which I snipped and bent to create little tie downs I push into the soil. If they get wet, I'm not sure if they will oxidize/corrode and this leeches into soil or onto plants. 3.) Water More.. As you can see at the top of this diary, my setup actually came with a big black catching tray for all the runoff. I thought to myself "How tf am I going to take out all the pots, carry this thing outside and empty it. That's dumb". So I watered less, to avoid all this crazy runoff, aiming to get little to no runoff, as I thought that made sense. Then I saw @The Grass Baas mentioned vacuuming the runoff in his set-up where he uses the same runoff catcher. I literally have a workshop vac that can vacuum liquid. I'm dumb. As of now I have put the big runoff tray back in my tent, and watered properly. Then, I simply vacuum all the runoff. Thank you @The Grass Baas, you helped me there tremendously. I feel that this lack of proper watering is what has caused my younger plants to be so small in Week 5. (You'll see what I mean) 4.) Measure my EC/PPM , I didn't realize it was important. I don't have a pen, so as of now I haven't done this once in my first grow. tsk tsk.. 5.) pH check my runoff, I couldn't do this as I didn't have any runoff to pH >.< But as per point 3, that will now change. Will start to check. 6.) Feed based on the bottle instructions, Instead of just reading the bottles, and halving the amount per litre for my autos, I followed a US YouTuber's feed guide. Using a gallon measurement and converting everything back and forth is an absolute ball-ache. Been way easier working with litres instead. If any of you read through these reflections, I would love your feedback and input! Moving onto the actual update (no judge plz ty) Plant #1 - Critical Auto - 45 Days Old Plant #2 - Critical Auto - 45 Days Old Plant #3 - Fruit Salad Auto - 36 Days Old (Regular, idk if female, see this thread) Plant #4 - Amnesia Haze Auto - 36 Days Old (Also check this weird ass leaf. Never seen a leaf split like that at the bottom.) Plant #5 - Critical Auto - 36 Days Old Plant #6 - Amnesia Haze Auto - 36 Days Old (Probably the best of all the younger ones) Honestly I am enjoying the whole process, even though it was waaaaay more complicated that I expected xD But that is what makes it exciting and fun Special shoutout to @Ill_Evan for being a certified ganja guide and taking the time to answer my constant questions through Steam. Legend, thank you! Even if my yields are sub-par, I've never grown indoor and will be happy that I managed without a complete disaster. If you made your way to the bottom of the thread, congrats! And thank you!5 points

"Although the plants are low to the medium" same happened to me, but as long as you got decent airflow through there you should be fine. The importance of airflow hit me in the middle of veg, along with some fungus gnats, so I switched to bottom feeding and watering to keep the topsoil dry, and doing this to the older plants, I also applied it to the Northern Lights and the leaves touching the soil (if you can see in the image they are fine.) The bottom watering is now my preference, I feel like I have a much better idea of how much water my plants get and use. It's quite fun watching them levels go down at different speed and stop unexpectedly. For example, the Sour Diesel drinks fast but less, the GSC drinks slow but I have to fill her twice. Really interesting stuff for me who likes to make observations. I am also of the opinion that everybody should find the way that works and is also enjoyable for them. This way the industry as a whole grows and expands more. Hopefully one day in the future our legislation will allow us to not only grow for ourselves but allow growers to supply legal dispensaries, almost like the system they got going in California. That's a dream that we might actually experience or the next gen growers. As I understand it, and this is pure hearsay, there are already 3 Canadian companies active in SA regarding the development for medicinal hemp and cannabis cultivation and in the case of those companies, the ability to do cheaper research at this point, even with power outages etc. Either way the future might be bleak ITO our government however there are still things we can be hopeful for. I mean, once the government realise they can tax a further 40% and hand out more spiked tenders, we should be there. No probs! happy growing fellow mystic3 points

Thank you for your responses and feedback! @Naughty.Psychonaut Your insight is always great to read! My choice to use synthetic nutes stemmed from two things. 1.) I got them for free with my setup 2.) My entire plan was to follow along the week by week guide from SeedToStoned he has here, and that is what he used. If you have time, check it out. His run seemed to go incredibly well, but he is far more experienced. He grew Amnesia Haze and Critical Plus 2.0 Autos in this run, which is pretty much identical to what I have (Copied him for a reason). He also skips the TriPart Grow in this run. I think that may have saved me because I have no idea what the PPM of my tap water is, and adding grow may have caused it to be too high and cause lockout. Coincidentally, the guy I got my setup from followed the exact same guide, from the exact same YouTuber xD Hence only the CalMag, Micro and Bloom coming for free with the setup. Had I not gotten the nutes for free I honestly may have gone soil/organic, instead of coco/synthetic But that is to be experimented with further down the line. With regards to stunted growth, before this week I was only feeding the plants 2.5ℓ each, to avoid runoff and mess. In hindsight, that is probably way too little. Since I now learnt have my runoff tray and use a vacuum, I give each plant a whole 5ℓ as I'm not scared of the runoff. It's only been a few days since the larger watering and the little stunted ones seem to be way happier already. All the plants seem way happier in general. Keen to see how they will respond and look a week from now. The reason I chose autos was also because I was going to follow the guide step by step, and to avoid having to stress about load shedding and light schedules. My next grow, I doubt I will do autos. I'll probably do photos or even clones. Thanks again for taking the time to respond! @LitItGrown Your plants look great man! Appreciate the response and sharing your personal experience. The "fishbone" style of training you referenced, is literally what I did with my older plants. I started LST on all my plants at Week 3 or 4, very eagerly. In my case the main stem is bent like 80 degrees lmao, and then the fishbone. All the other main stems coming off were then also kept low, and I tried to keep everything growing in a sort of "circular" fashion around the pot as best I could. Although the plants are low to the medium, I feel I did a decent job at least keeping all bud sites even, and maintaining even light to every site. I hope my plants stretch up more and get some fat buds, just like yours are! I'm a few weeks behind you, and will be keen to see how they look when they reach the same age yours are in these photos. Definitely going to swap to the green rubber coated soft ties when I can, glad you could share your experience with the metal stuff. I've also had some slight brown impressions in some places using the DIY metal ties. Thank you again for taking the time to respond! Much love to all of you following and helping!3 points

What's goooood bud, hope and trust all is well on your side For autos going through the HST you threw at them you got great results! Generally the rule of thumb with autos is "just add water" and it's not too literal, I mean they do need nutes, but the notion goes - you want to cause them as little stress as absolute possible. in most cases even LST will be too much for an auto to handle, things like topping and training is considered fringe practice when talking about autos. for the most part, you don't wana touch them. you don't wana defoliate them, you don't wana top them. you don't even wana repot them, that can also be too much stress for them. so going by the "just add water" thing, it's best to never have fluctuations in the soil, this will happen much easier when you're relying on yourself to understand how synthetic nutrients work. there is a point of growing you reach where you understand soil so well that you really do only have to add water, those will be your best growing conditions (talking rhizosphere) and it will be the safest bet for growing autos as everything is "pre-balanced" you literally just give clean water. don't get me wrong, some dudes achieve MAGIC results with synthetic bottled nutes, they have their place, but seeing as you starting out you in a very good position to decide to "go with" one thing or "go with" the other thing. in the long run, it's just a matter of time before synthetic nutes will dwindle and become obsolete, some huge movements being made in the world of organic growing. the misconception based around plants growing faster with synthetic nutes is based on the fact that people actually follow recommendations on the bottles instead, the marketing sector has mislead the masses into synthetics, cause there's a higher profit margin on these products than with organics, organics when done right will keep you away from the grow shops. and trust me, the grow shop is the very last place you wana go for growing guidance, those guys are there to sell a product and up their KPA within the company, they don't give a hoot about you aslong as you come back to buy more products. Anyway, as I was saying, you did great here brother. Probably got better results from that auto than I would have. I've never tried autos, cause of the -no time to forgive mistakes- characteristic all autos come with. I still run into hickups with each grow I do. Learning every day still. Just another note, those plants got stunted at some point right, and a stunted plant will obviously not be taking up nutrients the same way as a raging prolific plant. so maybe rethink the way you're cross referencing and approaching the next grow. the leaf necrosis you see there might be from root stress. nutrient lock out from not being able to use the nutes you gave it, cause it was spending time standing still from the HST you put it through. What may have saved you is that you planted directly into your final pots, so root space was more than abundant, but as the knife cuts both ways, it's also very easy to get the watering wrong when dealing with any small plant and big pot. even with photoperiods, most new growers over water their plants when starting out. the moisture levels and the watering technique for organic growers and synthetic growers also differ a bunch, but in both situations it becomes harder when it's a bigger pot and smaller plant. so with autos it becomes that much harder as they don't allow any slip ups. so yeah bud, pat yourself on the back, you did great here! If you going same route next grow one thing I would suggest is leave the training completely. those photos of Mr.Canuk training, not sure if it's autos, but if it was he probably mentioned that autos shouldn't be trained but he is taking chances, I would argue that it's based on his skill and experience level. that man knows exactly what's going on in his soil, I've probably watched all his videos and he also knows exactly what to do and when and if he runs into problems it's a matter of hours before it's resolved. If you're at the level of being one step ahead of the plants then you can take the chance to train an auto, but I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. Honestly I wouldn't recommend autos at all for beginners, you can't clone them either. so it's a one and done, what's the fun in that? also a bit counter-intuitive if LST/HST is meant to increase yield, but try it on an auto it'll cut your already smaller yield into half or even worse you only yield like 20g best way to get the most out of an auto is no training, no stress at all and then still you wont be able to achieve the yield of a photoperiod. one should never expect photoperiod results from an auto not even if everythings 100%3 points

Nice looking setup. I don't have as much exp as these guys however I am om day 73 of my 1st auto-run as well. Just a mention on the wire you are using, I did the same, the wire got hot under the lights, and the ladies didn't like that. (I could see some slight brown impressions where they were in contact with the stem and branches, so I replaced them with the green wire ties. RE: LST, you want gradually guide the plant. I found that simply adjusting the training wires/hooks/bends works well for the autos. I started doing this because I broke the main cola on 2 of the 3, one by being a complete bull in a China shop and turning with the main behind me and snap. The other one I truly believe I LST that one too late, so it got stronger than the rest and so less bendable compared to the other 2 and I over pushed my luck. Good news is that the is still 1 with it's main cola and I think I cocked up early enough that the plants was still able to divert the energy to the rest of the buds and I consider myself lucky in the sense that the genetics of the plants were of a strong so it could recover and I think I should be getting a decent result, however I share the same goal as you and that is to just get through it best way I can and enjoy the journey. I mentioned before that growing cannabis is just as addictive as using it. You will be surprised at their stretch phase, followed by the fattening of the buds phase. (I was, especially what most people had to say about autos and how finicky they are. (I guess good genetics would be a factor, because I fckd up a couple of times, with different small things that my ladies didn't like and they still forgave me. I suppose I will have to wait until after dry and cure to see how much she penalised for my mistakes. But "there is much more learned in defeat than in victory" as the Japanese saying goes. (I will make a post of all my mistakes when the run is done, a blooper post so to speak. ) The whole point is to get all the buds exposure to the light and that you will best see from the top view. (Added some pics to show you what I mean, although there might be better ways in achieving that goal, I did what I thought would work best) My Northern Lights Auto I took a different approach, also guiding them piece by piece and I will see how that turns out. I am pretty optimistic, since you can see 4 nodes coming up from the stem while the others now do almost a fishbone kind off effect. It looks like you're off to a way better start than I was so I am sure your autos will treat you well. Happy Growing2 points

I don't really count weeks in vegetative state, but those plants are roughly 1.5 months from cloning. I've already topped and trained them and I'm still hand watering to develop the root zone before switching on the reservoir for the autopots. I will keep at least 4-5 branches and cut away the bottom branches as I go. This strain is well suited for training and I wouldn't try this style with any strain. I've had some belly-up grows because of trying to train a new strain far too much. You just gotta find the one that will fit your grow style takes time but is well worth it.2 points

Wanted to ask, what week are the plants at here? As it is your first picture of the new grow, I'm not sure of the age. Seems you already defoliated the whole lower part? Is that something you can get away with doing early during veg for photoperiods? I assume the plant didn't stretch that high without any lower leaves or offshoots Could be wrong through. Thanks in advance!2 points

Yeyeyee that's the thing, and then also when you get into lab testing, most tests will use somewhere between less than 0.1g up to 0.5g for taking a reading, but the next becomes very obvious if you take any 0.5g part of the plant, you not getting a good sample. so as with all things run through proper lab testing and sequencing you need to do a field test, you look at the plant as "a field", you need to collect as much variety out of "the field" to capture all data efficiently, run the tests and cross reference them and then find an average. so what you end up doing is taking a bud sample from the top buds, middle buds and lower buds. they all get tested seperately and for extra measure another seperate test with all 3 samples mixed. the same as with humans, considering your point on how our ecs fluctuate, a plant is also a living thing, it's not made on a production line where all 100 is the exact same, it's not an object that comes out the machine the same every time, as I was saying same as with humans the same with plants, they're living things and because of that you'll have situations where the top buds are of way better quality than the lowers and all that stuff, bringing us back to why you test multiple samples in a lab an not just one. when we smoke, that's not what we do though, we don't take little bits from all over the plant and smoke it all together, we take one bud and break it up and smoke it, that bud coming from the same plant as the bud next to it will have different lab results... cause it's a plant. You can even go finer detail and look at one bud alone, inside the bud the resin will look different than the resin on the outside, cause it's basically never been exposed to direct sunlight and once a plant isn't growing anymore and UV from the sun hits your trichomes it degrades them, usually also the first trichomes to ripen and the trichomes inside the bud will be more "fresh" and "prime". so obviously, different compounds inside them.2 points

And a little update. Could harvest the full no pot tray and the result, for mostly stage 6 flowering, Okisch. The Hella Jellies are also flowering.. but not sure they are done end June.. that is when they would hit 7 weeks flower... and again.. stage 6 most of the time. Ginger Tea (Left undressed, right dressed) Very smooooooooooth.. zero throat irritation.. tastes like Ginger Tea, hence the name The Hella Jelly's are mid flower.. after schedule they reach end June 7 weeks flower.. and that should be it.. but they also endured stage6 for most of the grow. Don't think they are done end June.. or they would do a miracle transformation the next 3 weeks Didn't put em in the sun as they have dark right now, just cleaned out quick for the picture. Right now I do not care to much.. I decided to leave and not find out what stage 16 will do to a country. So not in a good space... rather sad.2 points

Introduction I decided to keep a grow diary as way to track my progress, and of course gain knowledge and insight from all you experienced bois who will hopefully be checking out the progress. I figured I would put everything I have so far in one initial post, and then keep updating as I go along. Setup Tent: Infinity 1.2 x 1.2 x 2m Grow Tent Lights: Green Houston 250W Quantum Board (Dimmable) x 2 Fans: RAM Inline and Outline Fan, with Carbon Filter. Pots: Garden HighPro Larger Propots - 20lt x 6 Growing Medium: Freedom Farms Coco-Perlite Growing Medium 70/30 Humidity: Mini 850ml Dehumidifier for Home Environment Monitor: Standard DIGITAL HYGROMETER Nutrients: Terra Aquatica GHE FloraMicro, GHE FloraBloom, Terra Aquatica CalMag Genetics Simba Seeds Critical Auto Fem x 3 Simba Seeds Amnesia Haze Auto Fem x 3 Decided to make the commitment into a hobby I’ve always wanted to do. Found a guy on Gumtree selling a whole setup that had been used once, before he upgraded. For R7200, figured it was a good deal. Decided to go with Autos, due to loadshedding, and leave the lights on 24/7. Ordered 6 seeds in total (Two separate orders) for 6 pots. Also got a Seedling Heat Mat, figuring if I’m spending money on seeds I may as well make sure they pop. April 25, - April 28, Of the first Critical Auto Fems, one misgermed as can be seen in the top right: Was yellowed, and didn’t rise through the soil like the others after being planted. Contacted the supplier and got a refund. 2 x Critical planted on 28 April 2023. May 1 My two Critical seedlings, still in the square plastic pots from the original setup, before I decided to swap over to Fabric Pots. May 5,- May 7 Ordered my next seeds, the Amnesia Haze. This time I also decided to germinate an auto seed a friend gave me (“Fruit Salad” – Strawberry Vostok x Pineapple Express.), just in case. Lo and behold, one Amnesia Haze didn’t pop at all, so I also got a refund for that one. 2 x Amnesia Haze and 1 x “Fruit Salad” planted 7 May 2023. May 14 Progress photo, had swapped to fabric pots by this point. May 22 Slight Magnesium Deficiency May 24 Looking better after increasing CalMag slightly. Pistils also showing on Criticals. As they are at the start of pre-flower I added my CO2 Bag into the tent. May 25 Started low stress training the Criticals. The other 4 are still too small to train. May 28 Criticals are responding well to LST. Other 4 catching up nicely.1 point

This is how I built an overpowered light worth $2500+ on the market for only $850. All currency is CAD. *BEFORE STARTING* Watch the 6 part growmau5 series to learn the wiring: For the grounding plug: Technical: 4x Hlg 185H 700ma in series drivers (i suggest you buy the newer 240H model) $250 40x 5000K $350 7x 3000K $25 (You can use less I used way too many) All are bridgelux Gen 3/ C3 (Make sure theyre all plug in only dont mess around with the solder ones unless you have 100+hours experience in soldering) The 3000k ones I used were soulder onlys. Lost a couple due to human error Total Cost (TC): $575 Frame: (Choose a better material for frame, I used wood composite because I was lazy) (I would think aluminum would be the best material but all have their pros and cons) Wood composite 2x2ft v Matching plastic 2x2ft (painting frame) $50? SETTING UP THE DIMMERS (Very easy if you do it like i did in these pictures) All you need is: •100k potentiometers (maybe an ohm meter if you want to make sure ur dimmers go all the way to 100, most dont they go to like 92 or 97) •20 guage wire (same as the led strips) •Plastic junction box (make sure its got rubber wire holders that you cut a hole through with scissors and put the wire/ potentiometer through) •211 Wago wire connector •soldering machine (temperature is dependant on what kind of solder you use) $25 • silver solder (find a lower temp soldering machine ~360f for silver) $20 (This light is truly 800w if you use the exact parts, if you use more or less drivers and led strips or different brands then the wattage can vary from 600-1000, materials are very flexible just try to make sure volt/amp calculations are correct) (Always be cautious with electricity, build this whole thing without being plugged in to any wall outlet/power source️)1 point

Hello Ganja Gurus Thank you for taking your time to read this! One of my auto fems didn't pop, so in order to replace it I managed to get my hands on a sick little bean (Bay Seeds Vostok and Fastbuds Pineapple Express ) made by our very own @Pants Tis indeed a regular seed, and as a newbie for the life of me I can't figure out whether its shown its sex or not. It is Day 36 (Week 5) and all my other plants the same age have shown pistils. This one doesn't scream male or female to me. No pistils, but no little balls starting anywhere. Late bloomer? Any help would be appreciated!1 point

I am wondering if the autoflower gene could be missed in some plants. The one I had that went about 7 weeks without showing did flip when I changed light to 12/12 with my photos. Truth that. I am about 10 days from harvesting the GSC - Majority of my canopy is even except for main that's a bit higher, I am really ok with this, I prefer milky trichs, however I do like the amber effect as well, so for me I am looking to harvest when the top buds are about 20% amber, and I should be around 10% amber trichs on the majority of the harvest. However, all the buds get good light exposure (Mains aren't really blocking any light from the rest of the canopy. But that's the plan on paper, we'll see what happens in reality. I still have the dry and cure to get through. I am expecting (hoping) a same strain different effects kind of thing.1 point

""He might look for the THCV compound." Spot on! The reason is because of this strains particular effects in diabetics. It is documented (studies in mice) that the THCV compound would cause the sugar levels to fluctuate less extreme between highs and lows. Now granted that the studies have been in mice, but they are strain specific studies, nonetheless. So this is more of a medical exploration that it is of a psychedelic nature. So as with most casses in cannabis it comes down to the pudding and the pudding here for me would be finding the above mentioned result; "sugar levels to fluctuate less extreme between highs and lows" and it only became a recent "thing" because of a close friend of mine did experience an improvement - less flux between high and low - up to 2 days after smoking some GSR and after quite an interesting conversation, I found this strain. Now I'm not the type to go bro-science quickly, because frankly, the research in the field of cannabis are decades behind other crops due to prohibition. I guess that's what makes cannabis so intriguing to most growers. I do like to experiment myself and with that comes pros and cons. At this point I just want to help a friend to feel better - Like we all use the herb, however not everybody's requirements to feel better are the same. So then you look at the human endocannabinoid system and then you realize ok so these variables and chemical make-up now get introduced to another cannabinoid chemical make-up aka cannabis. That's why every user experience is unique and similar and opposite in almost all strains, depending on what the user has experienced, and this also has to do with our human system... The human endocannabinoid system (ECS) regulates a variety of physiological processes and helps maintain homeostasis in the body. Some of the functions regulated by the ECS include: *Neurotransmitter function - The ECS plays a role in regulating the release, uptake, and overall balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. This helps modulate functions such as mood, appetite, sleep, and pain perception. *Immune system response - The ECS influences immune system responses, including inflammation. It helps regulate the immune system's inflammatory response to injury or illness, promoting balance and preventing excessive inflammation. *Pain perception - The ECS is involved in the modulation of pain sensation. Endocannabinoids can bind to cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system, reducing the transmission of pain signals and providing pain relief. *Appetite and digestion: The ECS influences appetite regulation and the digestive process. It can stimulate hunger or suppress appetite, depending on the specific signals and receptors involved. *Sleep and relaxation: The ECS is involved in the regulation of sleep patterns and relaxation. It can influence the sleep-wake cycle, promoting restful sleep and relaxation. *Mood and stress response: The ECS plays a role in regulating mood and the body's response to stress. It helps modulate the release of stress hormones and promotes a sense of well-being. *Reproductive system: The ECS has been found to be involved in various aspects of reproductive function, including fertility, implantation, and embryonic development. Research on the ECS is still ongoing, and our understanding of its functions continues to evolve, but all these above should ring some bells. So my fellow mystics.., it's a custom, just like in chemistry if your ratios are off you won't see the results your heard off, but if your ratios are correct then the more likely you are to achieve the result you can measure / grade / judge whatever your goal is. SO that means that if I have a girl scout cookie just as healthy as @Naughty.Psychonaut's girl scout cookie (he will argue that his plant is healthier and yes he'd most probably be right, BUT let's say hypothetically that the 2 plants are equally healthy, same seed batch, but not clones. They will still have developed different chemistry levels, HOWEVER they would probably more or less the same, and give majority of users the same effects, however there will be the exceptions, but most likely it will be because of the user's chem make-up and not the plants. But that's just my 2 cents. Me I am easy I like to get stoned and high and neither sativa nor indica gives me muchies. Amber trichs is good for my ADHD and the milky ones are murder for my attention span but fun! Any one of the 2 helps when I sit for a tattoo, sure it's still painful but the moment I get busy on my phone I forget about the ink completely, and thus Pain perception checkbox checked. Another friend of mine experiences the opposite, every time no matter what the strain. I must also add that, Sativa's strains thus far, just seem to have a longer effect than the Indica's and therefor, for me a softer landing. But that's just my own personal experience. Thanks for all the insights and advice fellow mystics, always appreciated1 point

hehehee that's why AK47 was saying what he said, he was commenting on me saying this in the previous message, but yeah true is true hey Even with all that said, harvesting indica at "peak" harvest or sativa at "peak" harvest time does not mean the sativa is day time smoke and indica night time smoke at all. That's where the misconception stems from, but it's all a bit backwards. Father of taxonomy, Carl Linnaeus, dubbed the term "Sativa" to the first Cannabis species found, because it means "Cultivated" and the cannabis plant, at the time, was highly cultivated for it's industrial uses such as hemp fiber, paper, medicine and a whole lot of other things. Indica means "from India", it was dubbed the name cause this variety of the same cannabis plant was found growing basically on the other side of the world with a whole different growth structure and grow cycle and wasn't used for industrial uses, so typically they had to call it something else - Indica was born. Ruderalis means "from Russia". The day time night time smoke is based purely off misconception created by false marketing. You only look at it like that when one does not understand trichomes. We have a window of time to play in, when you see buds are matured size and minimal white pistils (if you see white pistils is means bud is still growing, when less than around 10% of pistils are white the buds stop developing) you can start looking at trichomes once the buds stop developing. This gives you a window of time, not lunar time as in one day or one week or one month, we talk about time here the way the plant see it, so we need to learn how to speak plant. Only way is go to the plant every day and have a look at what the trichomes say. So what is "peak" harvet? I put it in quotes cause it's not a real thing. The deeper you get into it, you realise you harvest when you wana. Some like 10% amber, 70% milky and 20% clear, some like 80% amber, 10% milky and 10% clear. But in actual fact, the plant does not die in an instant when you chop them, for about a week or two theres still "movement" inside the plant after harvest. so if you see what you like today and then harvest, by the time you smoke the bud the trichomes will all look different. sooo......????? That's more of an answer than anything, but if it still doesn't make sense, look at it like this. Every genetic is different, when we talk trichomes we don't mean a chair that is a one simple object *mass produced on a production line in a factory, trichomes are like individual living things. Some have longer stalks some are shorter, some have thicker walls some have thinner, sommer are glass-like in texture some are more plastic-like, some have more resin inside, some have higher concentrations of different compounds inside their resin... they're all different. that's why you get stickier plants, granular resin plants, plants that dump resin, plants that don't look resinous but is potent as fuck, plants that are covered in trichomes that don't make you high at all.... all this comes down to the trichomes and what they look like under the microscope, they mature in different ways and at different rates and speeds. so yeah, that should say more than enough. for example (just an example, not a true thing) the trichomes on your cheese plant will stay clear till week 7 and then over night they all go milky in a couple of hours. and then right next to it you got SourLemon that's been throwing milky trichomes long before buds are finished forming, but no ambers. and then after all this, take those two phenos and just to razzle dazzle yall, do the same thing in someone elses environment/setup you may get different results again. so yeah, the indica and sativa stuff is just info for the guys starting out. I would suggest listening to or reading up on as much of Frenchy Cannoli's information about bubble hash making that you possibly can. That man will help anyone to understand a trichome better than they can understand their own dick.1 point

The sativa / indica being daytime / night time also depends a lot of when the plant is harvested. For example, if you take a sativa that say matures in 8 weeks and harvest it around 10 weeks when you have mostly amber trichomes, you will have a couch locked, make you relax and sleepy sativa plant. If you harvest an indica a little early when there is only milky trichomes and hardly no amber ones, you will have a nice cerebral awake high from a indica plant. Knowing this you can play with strains, for example, if you take a heavy sativa like a Sour Diesel, leave it for an extra week or 2 before harvest until those trichomes amber up nicely, you will end up with a really mellow Sour Diesel that's actually awesome. Dont be intimidated! This is actually quite simple. Tape led strips to frame > wire up positive to negative ect ect > wire drivers in junction boxs and wall grounding plug > done1 point

Blowing my perception of what I thought I understood about weed Sativa/Indica only indicates grow style and nothing else? Sativa = daytime smoke, energy, head high etc, Indica = nighttime smoke, sleepiness? That's all nonsense and marketing? I was aware that the different tastes, smells and effects come from different terpenes. If what you're saying is true, then my little bit of knowledge I do have has been flipped xD That an "Indica Dominant" strain can give just as much of a "Sativa" feeling when harvest early. Other snippets I've read is that more amber trichomes = more Indica, and the inverse also being true for Sativa. I guess the only true source of information will ever be to grow the stuff yourself, and test and learn lmao. Thank you for the insight1 point

I know I know, but at the end of the day. What you going to do bro? Looks like the current sentiment is everyone is done with the current government, and people are getting ready to vote. We are going to have a turnout like never before. I would give it until the 2024 election and then decide.1 point

I have the advantage that I have an apartment waiting for me and I do not have Visa issues.. i gave myself the little exit, if Eskom goes over Stage 8 the first time, I book my tickets for me and my dogs out of here. I like indoor growing and Germany wants to legalize it too. I have better chances to get it over there as here... the ANC is just not doing ANY of the jobs they should do. I see absolutely NOTHING positive coming from Stage 16 for several weeks.. nothing.. so the moment Eskom goes over stage 8, I am gone. Enduring load shedding since 2008.. I kinda had enough ^^ And honestly I have the fear that South Africans will vote the ANC again...1 point

Jip. The grass is at its greenest in your own backyard bru. Play the cards that you were dealt. Unless you have kids and looking for a potentially more stable future for them. Moving abroad means having to be dealt a new set of cards to play with. It's a gamble. Maybe one day i'll get outa dodge when Elon makes interplanetary transport available for us humans. For now. Give thanks and enjoy the moments. It's all that we have. Jah Bless!1 point

Also more thinking to leave... as sad as it would be... but when you spin the 'nearly no power' for weeks a bit further, things start to look rather bleak. If I can bridge is one thing, what does the supermarkets and shops in need for constant cooling do? Food prices will explode with 24/7 diesel backup. I see things going south very very hard... so please, if somebody has some killer arguments to stay, would love to hear them. I try to convince myself very hard not to leave... failing so far.1 point

Forgot to report about the Hella Jelly's... they went Flower a few weeks ago ^^ Am more busy with a new way to tackle the 1kg dry per sq with clones. My small pot attack improved the quality but bud size didn't convinced me. Quality very happy but bigger buds I would need to get to the desired goal. So we chuck the small pot attack... was a nightmare to feed anyhow ^^ And went with no pots at all. They now grow directly in a 1.2x1.2 tray.. makes watering super easy.. just dumping 15 liters per tray with a bucket 36 clones in a tray. The Eskom Stage 16 announcement really got me into panic mode. There is no WAY i could keep my Mother Tent from flowering with anything over stage 8. So yeah... freakin panic mode! My ex will borrow me 200k... I order a solar set from China and see how much I get with that amount of money. Will bridge me the house and mother tent 100%.. everything additional is just luxury after. But I am not sitting without power for weeks... no Sir! Have years of work in my mother plants.. loosing them would make me jump off a bridge1 point

How much i smoke.... nothing to brag, is just sad Roll 34 joints at a time and put 0.15g tabacco in each join. 1.15g fit in a king size joint. Lasts 5 days without visits. Batch of day smokes, this time Exodus Cheese. Using a coffee grinder not to get nuts. 150g ready for processing. The fun part comes with blending strains. Slurricane, Ginger Tea, Sour Diesel and Deluxe Sugarcane as blend... just freakin delicious and knocks you out of your socks. 1000 cones in a box... nearly done with this one. The pollen in the coffee grinder lid smells and hits you as good as cheese can. And there is quite a bit wish you all a fun May.1 point

Soooo ^^ was just very busy with work.. and had a proper self induced fuck up The fuck up ^^ Had a friend over, chat and a few drinks... she got hammered and at one stage I put the drunk chick in my bed with a bucket beside her head hehehe Not the first time she did that and just went on changing the buckets. There comes the issue.. used one of my watering buckets and to make the smell less unfriendly, i put a drop of Sunlight Liquid in once emptied and rinsed out.. fresh lemon smell. So once she was sorted and 'empty'. I put the buckets away again. Problem was.. i didn't wash out the Sunlight Liquid from the clean bucket i use for my plants. Few days later I used that bucket to get water from my rain water storage. I remember I asked myself why there is a bit of foam in the 5 Gallon bucket I use to mix my fertilizers. To make it short.. gave my plants a serious burn from the soap. Got all back but took a bit. Dish wash liquid is nothing to feed your plants ^^ Stage 6 weed.. still works just three times the usual work and yeah.. potency will suffer a bit Ginger Tea1 point
