Aweh gromies, Outdoor flowering time is upon us, our ladies are stretching nicely. They got thinned out around the bottoms and topdressed with mature compost-dropping soil levels. Added powdered eggshell and watered in with AACT last week. Keeping a close eye IPM wise as our RH is high as usual. No serious issues so far. Allready harvested some early bloomers F1 Bluecheese (180gr jarred and curing) Strawberry Vostoks (60gr) Pics. 1-5. F1 Bluecheese, Charlottes Angels. 6. Fruitpunch, Vanilla Kush. 7. Gorilla Glue. Been smoke testing them all this past week, verging on 3weeks cure now things are starting to speak up. Clear winner #4. Extremely resinous, and I don't mean trichome count. Resin is something inside the trichome. Trichomes themself don't make you high. Looking at one singular mature trichome the stalk and outer layer of resin head is basically a mix of pure celluloce and silica. The resin inside the resin head contains the tetrahydrocanabinol in all different forms and qualities. All 5 these SSC cuts had about the same trichome production/count, yet only #4 fucked my scissors to the point where I had to clean between every second or third bud or else the scissor will get stuck. You can draw your own conclusions with that information, clearly a lot more can and should be said, but for now here's the report. 1st Rundown - 10 to 12 weeks flower, had different expressions across 5 phenos, 1st plant to finish on week 10 but the rest clearly had to go longer, 2 plants harvested a week later and another 2 plants harvested on week 12. 5 plants in 1 year mature living soil built with my own worm castings and a shit ton of ongoing KNF treatments (FPJ, FPE, FFJ, FFE, LABS, SST, JMS and more) unfortunately not no till as each plant got their own 30L pot, so I had to disturb when loading pots. 5 different phenos warrent individual pots to avoid root zone competition and get a fuller expression of charactaristics. If I do a monocrop I will run a bed. Alternating between worm piss from my worm tower and clean water. One single topdress last week of veg. Jamies Elemental blend + Bat guano + Micronized Calcium. Total weight = 365g GPW = 1.2 #1 - 69g Gelato/Cookies terps. For the bulk suppliers this would be your pick on bag appeal alone. #2 - 77g Fruity/Floral terps with a hidden Gelato sweetness, but the least cookies leaning pheno of the bunch. #3 - 65g Straight Cookie sweet terps, most compact/smallest out of the bunch, really nice structure, rock hard dense buds. #4 - The keeper. 74g Chemical/Gas terps hit you right in the face, with a lingering cookie sweetness, heavy flavour covers the whole inside of your mouth, can't smoke enough of her. I prefer green weed over purple too, may be a placebo by now, but purple is a turn off. This bud sticky as fuuuug. #5 - 80g biggest yielder. Straight up and down Cookie terps all the way. Additional info - Have not processed any of the buds cause they're all good enough to smoke just the way they are. Trim got stuck in the bag, wouldn't fall out even when I shake the bag upside down open. got it on video for those who wana see. Took 40g of the trim to the press, got 4.5g 1st press and 3.6g on the second press. Total of 8.1g from 40g trim gives me a fat 20% return on the trim alone on par with some of the best bud. Pressed Peanut Butter Breath buds, got a 25% return so I know it goes higher, but 25% is about maxing it out for now, I've heard about 30% returns, just haven't worked with it before. Hey, So this grow is done and dusted, thought I would add it here as a start-to-finish diary. Substrate : Freedom Farm Premium Classic, amended with Dirty Hands Elemental Blend at 1L per 20L soil and a rooibos mulch on top. Nutrients : Biobizz (Grow, Bloom, Top-Max, Acta-Vera). Kushy Amino Acids, CalMag and Bud Juice Symbiotics. Genetics : Mandarin Cookies V2 from Ethos Genetics. There isn't many pics of Veg, because a cannabis plants looks like a cannabis plant, lets get onto the good stuff. I harvested just over 600 grams in dry weight in total, 400 grams of decent smokable buds and 200 odd grams of bud and offcuts to go towards some bubble hash. Well that's that, cheers for now.

Awe brother, hope and trust all is well on your side. Don't change anything now, autos don't like to be bothered at all. Your best shot now is to just get the feeding right. Autos you stunt once and they show you the finger, but for future reference.... The 3 part mix is usually 1:1:1 - peat:drainage:wormcastings. First I wana touch on the wormcastings, cause I see you put potting soil instead. When buying worm castings you gotta be a bit snobby, cause 95% of commercially available WC will have sand and some kinda "filler" mixed in to fill more bags. Anything that's available in bulk at commercial retailers will lack on the side of quality, cause they pushing for quantity and serving only the unknowing masses. I make my own WC so I know what I work with, but in my days of buying it, you get one kak batch and it will fuck your view of the stuff. Since building my own soil with my own 100% pure WC my organic living soils been pumping faster than some peoples hydro setups. Now you gotta know, if just the quality og worm castings put in can make such a big difference, there's obviously a HUGE drop in quality when you talk about nutrient availability in WC and potting soil... Potting soil...... eh..... I get nauseous when I have to talk about it. My passion is rare plant collecting, got a big greenhouse with some extremely rare plants. Been on it for up to 15 years now, learnt the hard way that potting soil is detremental to most plants. Double Grow, Reliance, Red Tracktor, Cultera, ALL OF THEM fall under this umbrella. Any generic potting soil will lead you "van die wal af in die sloot". I haven't bought a bag of potting soil in more than 10 years, that doesn't mean my family stopped with their shit or learnt their lesson by now, still wondering why each and every plant they bring home from the nurseries with a new pot with a fresh bag of potting soil with all the bells and whistles the nurseries make them buy, just instantly dies as soon as they repot them. I mean the answer is in there, just need to not be oblivious to it. I avoid potting soil even for my ornamental plants. For peat I avoid coco unless it's untreated and pre-buffered. Those coco bricks get treated with a sodium based product to compress them into those bricks, if they're unbuffered that sodium starts to affect your soil and you get major ph swings even when you do "organic" feeding. Calcium buffer will help the coco act like soil where it holds onto nutrients otherwise the coco will stay negatively charged with no cation exchange sites, so it'll fill your pots but the nutrients just run straight through or you get nutrient build up from the plant not being able to access it cause it's not breaking down into plant available compounds and then you get root burn and nutrient lock out and and and all the undesired rootzone problems. You can't have buffered peat that's compressed, cause the sodium treatment will undo the calcium buffer, and vice versa - part of the calcium buffer strips the coco of sodium, so you can only really buy untreated coco (extremely rare) or pre-buffered coco. Otherwise if you going for the cheap option you gotta put in the work and buffer it yourself. To skip all that, just get Sphagnum peat. works 1000 times better than coco, never goes negatively charged, no need to buffer, no sodium byproducts and just all around a better option. For drainage, skip perlite and go straight for leca. Endless reasons why, I'd love to tell you all the reasons, but I am sure by now you're getting tired of all the reading. If you want me to give the reasons just say so and I'll drop the info. I hope you're not one to be diacouraged by reading more than 2 or 3 sentences, as with all crafts people enjoy, if you're into something you gotta be into it at least a little and not give only the bare minimum and then expect the best results. more often than not a short snappy response will lead you further from where you need to be, because we all interpret things differently. forums are a thing these days cause people don't always have the time and means to go read a whole book or do deep research on something just to get the 1 single answer you looking for, so a forum allows people to ask a question directly and get a answer directly - hopefully from people who know what they talking about and the majority of the time people don't, they just wana "help" so they throw in their but infact answers to things that has more than one variable will never be direct and short. there are many ways to grow a plant, like these people say seem like your plant is fine and it will obviously grow, but for sure there are "better ways". If you think about it, the very very best grower in the world still tinkers and tweaks his methods to improve what he's doing cause there is always room for improvement, no matter what the level of expertise.

Aweh fellow florists Summer is upon us and the growing season is afoot. Hope everyones' got their soils cooking. We've been experiencing a bit of everything, our garden is an example of opposites. Chopped a few ladies really late, at the "wrong time" of the year.(Not supposed to be havesting in Oct) Flowers looked good. One big sativa lady busy revegging, topped her twice during veg to push her into flower early, but she wasn't having any of it. The f1 Bluecheese phenohunt girls doing well in 60lt tubs. Hoping for a decent "cheese" and/or "blueberry" pheno. Backed up some clones, rooted in 14days. Will be planting out into 20lt growbags. Next round of seedlings in 9lt bags for sexing. Sifted 240lt compost and latest 200lt batch of diy "supersoil" is nearing completion for the grow bags. So we're off to a bang this season. Cheers

Natie is a guru, true to the plant through and through. He's been in this industry longer than most. First time growing photoperiods, quite excited. Genetics Hiroshima by Renegade Seed Co. 6 Pack High THC, and according to the product description should deliver "high yields of dense, rock-solid buds." Hoping to achieve that. Want to make one a mother and start learning to clone. The description says "These highly stable genetics produce two phenotypes at most." Should be easy to choose a winner to reveg. They advise topping, which I am also looking forward to learning. Want to also try "FIM" a plant or two to experiment. Grow Setup Same as before. Here ~ Lets go 9 November Seeds arrived. Also received a Promotional 2 Pack of G-Fawke. 10 November Seeds into a glass of spring water. Onto a heating mat and into a dark cupboard to soak for 18 hours. 11 November Seeds started showing roots. All 6 seeds popped, gently took them and placed them root facing down in Jiffy Preforma Plugs. Covered the holes slightly and into the ROOTiT Small Propagator they go. Heating mat underneath, and gently misted with spring water. Also threaded the hygrometer reader through a ventilation hole, to see the environment reading. I think this reading is fine for germination. Any and all feedback welcome. Hoping for them all to push out effectively over the coming days. In hindsight I should have maybe done the paper towel method to get the roots longer, before putting them into the plugs. I've also previously had a failed germination where I watered a bit much, so just gently misting this time as to not drown/stunt the seeds.

Aweh fellow florists, The ladies are putting on their show. Buds are swelling and stinking with goodness, despite the heavy rain and high rh. Lost a few girls to the "taxman" mentioned in earlier posts, got a new problem with small spiral snails "ring debarking" some plants-tested some vinegar/soap mix to no effect, now dusting with cinnamon. Don't like spraying stuff in flower, hopefully they'll pull through. Chopped some Bluecheese f1's this morning. Pics of Charlottes, Gorilla Glue, Bluecheese. Our climate on the north coast is unforgiving to say the least. Its like the weather wants to kill your plants.....4 days of thunderstorms and rain, high rh and the next day temps touching 50deg. A good test for any genetic abd the reason why you plant double and take extra clones, just in case. Cheers.

- I've never been a fan of top dressing for this reason, unless you top dressing with a fertilizer that can be broken down by water and leech into the soil (dry amendment fertilizer). When it comes to things like Kelp meal, bone meal and crushed Malted barley, they take time for the microbes to break them down. So I would add them to the soil in the beginning when I was mixing the soil for the plant. I find the trick to organics is to work 2 weeks ahead of where your plant are. So if I'm going to flip to flower in two weeks time, I already start with the organic material needed for Phosphorous and Potassium to give it 2 weeks to at least start breaking down. However, keep in mind, just because the raw material exist in the soil, doesn't mean the plant will use it or it will affect the plant. An example of this is the kelp and bone meal, you can add it to the soil in the beginning and let the microbes do their thing, When you flip to flower, those broken down nutrients will then be instantly available to the plant when it wants it. Crushed Barley needs to be worked into the soil in the beginning, when it gets wet it will build out a mycelium network throughout your soil and feed your microbes. - I answered your Environoc question in the other thread. It won't hard the plant if you do it throughout flower, it's just not needed as it's a waste. - I have never found a use for a compost tea, I prefer to use VermiPure Tea (https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/umoja-organics-vermipure-worm-tea/) and Environoc 401 instead for the microbe loading. Then normal nutrients for the other NPK stuff. If you looking to do organics on the cheap, try out the Bud Juice nutrient range, I'm busy using it at the moment on a grow and its seems really good for something you only give once a week.

I'm a newbie and thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself formally on the forum I've just started growing indoors and also thought it would be a great idea to join a community that I can learn from and perhaps one day teach as well! Hope to start sharing my progress with yall real soon. I've started a week ago and I'm already overthinking myself to death with details and questions. Awe lekker manne, hier gat ons!

Depends if I'm growing organic or not at the time. If non-organic, my preferred nutrients are the Gold Label nutrients, but they are wack expensive. Alternative to this is the TA Tri-part, I'm had fairly ok success with the TA nutrients, but overall, my success with synthetic nutrients has been "questionable" in general. If organic, I amend Dirty Hands Elemental Blend into the green bag of freedom farms (1L Elemental Blend to 20L of FF soil) and then I feed with around 50% of the bio-bizz recommended nutrients (depending on stage of growth, I use more around week 4 - week 6 of flower), this method has worked the best for me. The only "catch" being that you probably need to give CalMag for the first few weeks of veg. I don't know why, but every plant I stick into freedom farms has an immediate Calmag deficiency, but is easily combatted with one dose of Calmag a week for the first 3 / 4 weeks of veg, then its fine after that. If you anticipate this, its great easy growing. With organic I find you just need to work 2 weeks ahead of where your plant is in development. For example, if you going to flip to flower, start pre-loading your soil with the nutrients the plant is going to need in a week or two's time. This gives the microbes time to break it down into a form the plant can uptake when it needs it. So take a bloom booster for example, it's basically just Potassium, so in week 4 of flower, I start pre-loading the soil with lots of potassium so that by the end of week 5 or start of week 6 the plant is able to absorb as much potassium as it wants. The same happens at the end of the grow, from week 7 I start feeding water only so that in week 9 I can harvest.

I have gone solar. But these days you can buy a 5.12Kw battery and inverter for under 40k and you will be able to run every thing. Add solar panels and you are cruising. We produced 25kw yesterday.

We grow organic outdoors, I use a lot of different amendments in my soils, which are basically built from scratch. The wormfarms were a game changer, castings for the soilbuilding and topdressing as well as wormtea. Liquid nutes I prefer Biobizz, with Seagrow and molasses for AACT. Also use numerous liquid extracts and FPJ's during veg and flower. So far, so good.

I run a 3kva inverter connected to 4 x 12V lithium batteries, its able to hold two tents running at a total of 1600 watts for about 3 and a half hours (along with some lights for the house and our PC's and TV). The unit itself cost me around R45000, but worth every cent.

14 November 5 seeds pushed out of the soil. Not sure what happened to thee 6th, as it showed a root and the seed popped. Oh well. The middle left seedling had the seed casing stuck, and stupidly I tried to help by prying the seed helmet off. Ended up taking off the one leaf. RIP. Not sure if it will make it. Germinating the 2 promo G-Fawke seeds I got now, to replace the damaged and non-starter seedlings.

I had a cut of the CT Exodus cheese. Is good but nothing overly special. Not sure if the old genetics of the cut were responsible or the plant had the grow characteristic itself, beside the end colas it was more a fluff flower, so shit genetics if you want to resell. For home smoke, you get cheese and it hits. The plants are super thirsty like a Sour Diesel.. they drink at least double of a usual strain.. so you're short on water, stay away. They also get very fast irritated when under watered.. is not a easy strain to grow as is not overly stretchy but leafy. You really want to have a cheese in your mother tent or you will not go through the stress. Was the strain I was always willed to replace if I find better genetics.

12 November One so far

80% genetics, 20% growing environment. Genetics are actually such a cheat. You can grow great strains like trash and usually still get very good bud. IF you have good genetics that once were dense, but are now airy, it would be due to too little light intensity, overwatering, too hot/cold growing environment, bad humidity and bad nutrient feed, or a combination of.

I basically give Fishmix (1ml/1L) and Kushy amino acid (or bio heaven) with almost every feed during veg (once a week I just give plain water, rest of the time it's biobizz). When I flip the lights to 12/12, I then switch to using: Week 1: Grow (1ml/1L), Bloom (1ml/1L), Top-Max (1ml/1L), Kushy Amino (3ml / 10L) - Every Watering Week 2: Grow (1ml/1L), Bloom (2ml/1L), Top-Max (1ml/1L), Kushy Amino (4ml / 10L) - Every Watering Week 3: Grow (1ml/1L), Bloom (2ml/1L), Top-Max (1ml/1L), Kushy Amino (4ml / 10L) - Every Watering Week 4: Grow (1ml/1L), Bloom (3ml/1L), Top-Max (1ml/1L), Kushy Amino (4ml / 10L) - Every Watering Week 5: Grow (0.5ml/1L), Bloom (4ml/1L), Top-Max (4ml/1L), Kushy Amino (4ml / 10L) - Every Watering Week 6: Grow (0.5ml/1L), Bloom (4ml/1L), Top-Max (4ml/1L), Kushy Amino (4ml / 10L) - Every Watering Week 7: Grow (0.5ml/1L), Bloom (4ml/1L), Top-Max (4ml/1L), Kushy Amino (4ml / 10L) - Every Watering Week 8: Just Plain water Week 9: Just Plain water I also add CalMag, Silica and microbes in once a week through veg until week 5 of flower. Now depending on what amendments you have in your soil will depend on how you adjust the above, for example if you using freedom farms green bag, then the above is perfect. If for example you have amended your freedom farms with something like the Dirty Hands Elemental Blend, then you would still use the same quantities as above, except not every watering, more like every 2nd watering. This is what I do since I amend freedom farms with elemental blend - This works out cheaper on nutrients (Basically works out to R26 per plant to half my biobizz nutrients) and you get the same result as using biobizz with every watering.

Aweh fellow florists, Compliments of the season. Summer is off with a bang, ladies are are happy...just have to keep them that way in this heat. Even got some early flower action going.... First round of clones are vegging, 2nd batch acclimating. Topdressed the big girls again last week as they start switching to flower- dropping soil levels.(Compost, coffee grounds, powdered eggshell, wormcast and woodash) Followed with AACT. This week, mulched thick with grass clippings and watered light (summer storm incoming) so the worms can stay cool/hydrated to continue doing their thing. Got a few strains going- f1Bluecheese, Gorilla Glue, Fruitpunch, Charlotte's Angel, Strawberry Vostok, Vanilla Kush. Happy Growing.

12 December Late update. Had some spidermite issues due to high temps and low RH. Got a spidermite spray from the brand "Buddi". Worked well, issue resolved. Humidifer arriving tomorrow, to get that nice high RH for veg. The plants all have very different structure and are growing at different rates. Will probably take cuttings from Hiroshima #1 from what I can see so far. For the two larger ones I topped them now, as they reached three nodes.

Starting to get color on the DS, not to far out to chop ^^ fresh weed for Xmas.. also not bad. Photo strain finished in Spring the moment you understand weed, things are not that complicated anymore.

Deluxe Sugarcane, White Widow and my 2 Gelato Phenos, few days out. ^^ So yes, easy possible to run 2 photo harvests a year with a little preparation in July, enough sun down here Jarred to even out the moisture before I dress. What that GSC like ? And I'm looking more towards the cookies/Gelato terps then the fruity citrus type. So it's between Blueberry Muffin and Tart Pops. And yeah true they really make it hard to decide.
