  1. If that is the case then PH is gonna be your biggest enemy and will continue to be I'm afraid. Coco perlite from the onset generally has a high PH so you would correct this by feeding with salt ferts at a PH of around 5.8 and stick with that every single feed/watering. The thing with adding organic ferts to an inert medium is you don't have anything in that inert medium such as lime to buffer the PH which can easily go all over the place when adding organic ferts and compost teas. Even if you PH a compost tea, which seems quite ridiculous but most likely possible, the PH could still change considerably while sitting in your medium. Your grow can work. Perhaps it has already worked a good number of times for you. But you are setting yourself up for a not so smooth ride. Happy to be proven wrong though
  2. Trying to understand what's going on here lol @Smelly Joe from what I understand you're growing in a 50/50 coco perlite medium and trying to feed only with organic ferts, teas, and no salts?
  3. Can anyone verify this supplier of food grade ethanol? https://www.chemlabsupplies.co.za/product/ethanol-absolute-alcohol-999-pharma-grade-25lt-glass-bottle/ Pricing almost seems a bit too good to be true

Good taste in music @Dank! Big fan of Fortunate Youth.
  5. I've mentioned it to a member on the forum. Selling living soils/super soils commercially is risky business with a lot of factors that could go wrong. Having a production facility that is sealed and contaminant free is almost next to impossible, maybe that day will come, but not right now. That's how the occasional batch will have fungus gnats etc. I also feel there's a catch 22 with packaging. I don't know the real science behind it but I'm worried the bags are too sealed and don't allow the soil to breathe well. On the other hand, if you allow the soil to breathe well by punching more holes in the packaging you risk the soil drying out, another issue in itself, plus you invite pests like fungus gnats etc. I think you'll need to accept a certain element of risk when buying a commercial super soil. The only way to avoid doubt entirely is to mix your own
  6. I'm gonna get flack for saying this but if you keep going for autos your chances of duds are higher as well.
  7. Fully concur! If you're not buying a commercial soil tried and tested with cannabis, then you need to mix your own. Like @trichomechaser says these commercial potting soils are loaded with bark plus they're not nearly as aerated as a good cannabis soil should be. Culterra and Garden Master potting soils are everywhere. Stay the hell away from them. I don't know how it is nowadays but when I was in the cape I used to mix Doublegrow potting soil with coco, some vermicompost and perlite and that did really well as a starting platform for the plants. The doublegrow soil was much less "barky" than the others
  8. @Za Weed Lover what is your germing technique exactly? How long do you soak for? You mention a heating pad, what do the seeds go in when you move them onto a heating pad? I'm not saying you're guilty of it but I've seen so many guys go overboard when germing seeds and that's often where the problem lies. I agree with @SkunkPharm though. Stick with reputable breeders. Too many fly by night breeders with very little evidence of their genetics in action. They may have some great phenos but equally as many terrible ones (Green house seed co. also guilty of this). If you see a strain that you fancy, google the shit out of it. Look for grow diaries on forums. Don't rely on images from the breeder. Look for independent views on the strains. Seedfinder can help too https://en.seedfinder.eu/
  9. Looks like the official number is 500kg. Such a perfect round number https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/hawks-nab-suspected-major-cannabis-supplier-in-sa-seize-r3m-worth-of-marijuana-20191111 Corruption runs super deep that's how this took so long to happen in the first place

  11. Russel De Beer, Canapax's front man was arrested on Saturday at the Canapax HQ in Brits. According to some apparently reliable sources over 1 TON OF CANNABIS was confiscated. Police reports, unsurprisingly has listed 500kg as a number. Still a shitload no matter which way you look at it. The official SAPS Story. Article link https://www.saps.gov.za/newsroom/selnewsdetails.php?nid=23194&fbclid=IwAR10hqk-HVHo6WrJW1KgqvX18gJeC3uHl6OjKVktCIuwhWAtz72EyLpFATE Media Statement Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS) NORTH WEST – The Serious Organised Crime Unit of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation with members of Forensic Science Laboratory and Local Criminal Record Centre descended on a hydroponic dagga lab in Brits on Saturday and arrested the owner of a Cannabis dispensary. The suspect who allegedly also sells franchises for cannabis dispensaries is a major supplier of cannabis and related products in the country. The investigation aims to clamp down on the unlawful mushrooming of Cannabis dispensaries around the country which are purporting to be operating legally in terms of the Traditional Health Practitioners Act (No. 22 of 2007). A search of the suspect’s store allegedly revealed over 500 kg worth of Cannabis estimated to be approximately R3 million, hydroponic tunnels for cannabis cultivation, various apparatus for processing and oil extraction and other numerous cannabis products, all which were subsequently seized. The suspect will appear at the Brits Magistrate’s court on 11 November 2019 for contravening the Medicine and Related Substances Act and dealing in Dagga.
  12. First I've heard of a fridge pump being used. Are they similar to vacuum pumps? Bought myself a 30g blasting tube a month or 2 back
  13. Split the conversation from the other thread into this new topic. I believe Ssomeguy is one the one who started the debate but he deleted his posts and left the forum so @Ill_Evan you just so happened to be the next poster inline hence you being the owner of this topic. I can change the title of the topic etc. guys lemme know what I must do if need be
  14. I am aware of that thanks, kinda thinking long term and would eventually want a chamber to negate the need to buy ethanol every now and then which as we know is quite pricey On that note though. What ratio of ethanol to extract is suitable to dissolve the butane out effectively?

  16. I have all the means of extracting BHO and consuming it but I'm left without one crucial component... a vacuum chamber... Please don't tell me to just purge it by means of heat and time. I've done this once and the result was great but the fact of the matter is that it's basically impossible to remove all butane and I'm not really keen to put my lungs at that much risk. Read up on it I haven't done a huge deal of research on what is available locally but what I've found has come up with big numbers ... 6k to 9k for a small pump and chamber...This seems really steep and I'm not in a position right now to put down big cash like that for what is still a novelty in cannabis culture (consuming extracts). I'm keen to hear if guys have built their own chambers and where they have source vacuum pumps etc. Otherwise let me know where you got your vacuum chamber setup, how much you paid and if it treas you well
  17. Practice a more hands off approach than hands on. Especially with organic

  19. Took them long enough to issue this statement.... with more than 50 stores all over the country you'd think they would've caught light of it a a tad sooner... What makes me wonder is why have they've taken so long to issue this statement and take action... if they do indeed take action now
  20. The bottom section is for a rockwool cube or jiffy pellet
