  1. Trying to even the playing field. A person growing from clone has an advantage over a person growing from seed... plus clones vary in size
  2. That did cross my mind but my thoughts were to just see what guys could produce in that short space of time. More for fun really That being said if the outdoor growers would like to do it properly, I'm sure many would, then a start on 18/9 would be best. Great idea for the date btw, timing is actually perfect
  3. A couple members have mentioned running a growoff on 420SA. I think it could be good fun! Let's discuss how we can do it.... I'm thinking: An outdoor growoff and an indoor growoff. 2 seperate comps. Perhaps starting 15 January next year Growers have to choose 1 feminized seed (no bagseed) to grow and have to stick with that seed. Starting germination on the 15th of Jan. If the seed duds they can germinate another one but will not be compensated timewise. When it comes to deadlines it could be a bit tricky. Either we set a deadline date for when the person has to harvest the plant or have it harvested before.... or for the indoor comp we set a date when the person has to switch to flower (maybe around 40 days after germination) and then allow everyone's plant to finish when they think its ready. Once the last plant is ready to chop the comp can end. Same goes for the outdoor comp, it ends once the last plant has been chopped. That would most likely mean that the outdoor comp will end much later on A separate board or club will created and each participant will run their own thread with updates on the plant they entered Just some ideas on how it can be run. Totally open to other ways. Give your input if you'd be keen to take part in this. If enough interest is shown I'm sure we'll get a sponsor
  4. Most definitely. It's been a real mission doing both hydro and organic this run. Looking forward to putting all my focus on organic. I haven't been doing everything I've wanted with the organics that are finishing now so I look forward to getting a solid regime going in the future. I'm also gonna start feeding with biobizz bloom after about week 4 or 5 now.
  5. Not everyone's cuppa tea but I used to play a shit load of golf in my teens and early twenties and have definitely played some of my best golf when stoned. Occasionally play these days and it still helps. Helps me focus and relax. Anyone experience the same?
  6. The organic Amherst sour diesel clone 1 week into flower.
  7. That depends on how much you spend on bud each month...you'll be surprised how much you start saving once you rely on homegrown
  8. Hey @Chrislovesdagga you'll need to do a lot of refinement on your cloning process First I can see you took the cuttings wrong, I remember my mate did the exact same once. I can see you cut off the fan leaves and hoped you would get clones from those which you wont. You need to cut from the main stem..like below Then get some proper propogation media like jiffy pellets or rockwool cubes. Some rooting hormone too, Builders warehouse stocks the dynaroot powder. Finally you need to have your clones in a humidity dome. I use a clear plastic container and it does the job just fine so see if you an get one of those or get from a hydro shop.
  9. Right now in SA the best bottled fertilizer to use is Biobizz. They are made with cannabis in mind and the stuff produces great results. Definitely look into preparing a good soil though
  10. Let's share here which hydro stores, head shops etc. will be running Black Friday specials this week
  11. Am I tripping here? Ordered 2.5L from ethanolsa... only got this bottle
  12. Most likely preflowers which are a sign of sexual maturity. Doesn't mean the plant will start flowering now
  13. Grow equipment Grow supplies - soils, pots, nutrients etc. Extraction Equipment Paraphernalia - Bongs, Pipes, Vapes etc Hemp products - clothes, food, beauty products etc. Just remember that the sale is illegal... so the only one's who could exhibit cannabis are breeders(maybe). As far as breeders are concerned, I didn't say seeds is a definite no no at the expo but its a grey area in the law still and needs to be discussed and looked at before just blindly going ahead. CBD only products will be fine
  14. I'm getting the feeling that its not 100% confirmed. Perhaps not as many people are signing up as they hoped.... If I was paying those fees for a stand I'd really want them to be doing more advertising of the event and making mention of whose stands will be at the event. It's less than a month away...
  15. Many are aware of the upcoming cannabis expo in Pretoria planned for next month. Many are also aware that the stand fees are really high, out of reach for most. My thoughts are that maybe, just maybe, 420SA may be able to organise a sort of expo catering for more . Maybe one in JHB and one in CPT. Think of it more along the lines of a jacked up market. Basically the stand fees will be there to cover the cost of the venue and other expenses that will come along with it. Entrance fees will help out with that too. Some important points(chip in or disagree where you can): I think first and foremost, cannabis products can't be exhibited. That includes bud, edibles or anything containing cannabis. We don't wanna step on toes or attract bad attention to the expo. I suppose CBD, non psychoactive products could make the cut. Whether cannabis can be consumed at the expo I'm not sure. I'm a bit skeptical about that. Non cannabis users may want to come check out the expo as well but may be deterred by weed smoke everywhere. Perhaps an allocated area can be made but we'll need to check on the laws regarding this. The important thing to remember is that the expo wont be a massive smoke up. It's about developing the industry and businesses who want to operate in the industry. A 2 day weekend expo is what I reckon would work. Saturday and Sunday Seedbanks and breeders exhibiting at the expo. Perhaps a risky one? No under 18's So first we need to find suitable venues. Could be a sports field or any large open space. If you guys have any suggestions please shout. I'm really interested in getting something like this going
  16. There's nothing stopping us from forming expo's for the smaller businesses with far more affordable stand prices. It can be done. I think this needs to be discussed Not shooting down the organisers of this expo. They are doing their thing and lets hope it works out for them and the businesses that do exhibit at the expo.
  17. Article link https://thehighco.co.za/south-africas-first-cannabis-expo/ South Africa’s First Cannabis Expo South Africa’s first Cannabis Expo is set to begin in December 2018. It’s been the talk of the town despite already receiving a fair amount of criticism and support on social media. Is South Africa’s first Cannabis Expo too good to be true? Their website claims that ”The cannabis industry is exploding, and The Cannabis Expo provides the perfect platform for international and local medical health professionals, agricultural providers and lifestyle brands to engage with industry experts and the public around this versatile plant. The Cannabis Expo is the largest trade and consumer expo of its kind on the African continent and includes an exhibitor hall, networking and entertainment spaces as well as featuring a speakers stage and workshop that hosts local and international experts from across the industry.” Other self made claims include it being the first of its kind and ambiguously implying that it has been hosted in other countries. There is however actually next to no real information available for the Cannabis Expo and their social media accounts appear to be dead in the water with practically zero activity. This however did not stop them from knocking on my door a few weeks ago and asking us for up to R70 000 to attend the event with our products. This immediately set alarm bells ringing. I had never heard of these people or their event in all my years of cannabis activism, but here they were playing at being the next big thing for local cannabusiness. The Cannabis Expo prices So I replied “High. Thanks for contacting us. Going to be real with you, I traditionally don’t do business with companies and brands that are absent for the activism work or donations, but then hit me up for cash the first time they speak to me. It’s great and all that you intend to create more awareness about the plant. I unfortunately don’t see anything about this event giving back to the plant or the communities on the front line. All the best, it’s certain to get people’s attention.” Their response was a polite thanks and cheers as they moved on to try more fertile ground with other brands. At first I was a bit butthurt about this first indication of non-cannabis related or inspired big business now seeing this an opportunity to cash in on the hard work of others. But then I realised that this exactly the sort of thing that what we have been fighting for all along… the right for this to happen. For people and brands to freely start creating positive awareness about the plant whether their intentions be altruistic or purely financial. I noticed much the same vibe from other local cannabis enthusiasts. At first offended by the tenacity and cheek of these complete strangers to out of the blue start hitting locals up for fat chunks of cash and support. But then moods started to mellow as these folk started seeing this as a big picture opportunity for the plant. The fact that this was being organised by one of the Sexpo founders was also reassuring for those who needed to know that the Cannabis Expo was not some sort of scam. Brands that I respect also began getting on board thereby adding more validity and settling some of the nerves within the community at large. Although I am personally still finding it difficult to wrap my head around this not actually being an expo for cannabis. Cannabis Prohibited! Their online tickets (R150 each) make it very clear that cannabis itself is strictly prohibited from the expo and it worries me that with less than a month to go there has been practically zero marketing about it. Reading between the lines on their website reflects that they make no claims about actual cannabis products being there. I’ve also heard recent rumours of enquiries not being responded to and have seen no effort by the Cannabis Expo to promote the brands or speakers who will be attending. That their Facebook, event, Twitter and Instagram pages are dormant strikes me as being somewhat non-committal for the local cannabusiness big bang that they’re selling. Only a handful of social media posts The Cannabis Expo Social Media There’s only two to things that I can be sure of though. Firstly, these folk definitely have an uncle in the mall space business. Secondly, the Cannabis Expo needs to walk the talk if they’re gonna create value for the exhibitors, attendees and the plant. It’s not just the 20k to 70k that they are asking for, it’s also the trust of the so far marginalised yet resilient cannabis community. I personally hope that the expo is a huge success and goes from strength to strength… even if it makes me lank butthurt.
  18. Thanks did you come right with the PM?
  19. What's in the premium mix? I can't see it on their site
  20. Howzit guys I must apologise profusely for the lack of proper updates lately. It's a mix of being insanely busy, having too much on my plate and a touch of laziness on the side It's been a big struggle with heat here. Sometimes my canopy temps sit at 36!! and that was on a mildly hot day.... As a result I'm sure it has costed me yield with some fox tailing evident and just general signs of heat stress. Not too bad but evident, especially on the Blue Kush .... I do have a portable AC but I need to figure out how to work it with my current setup. I can't have the AC in the tents so it needs to sit outside the tents... then I need to figure out a way to get the temperature sensor of the AC into my flower tent so the temp can be somewhat regulated... I'm only concerned about the heat in my flower tent. Anyways here are the plants. Taken last Thursday. PO CBD #1 - She had started swelling in this pic and is well into her swell at the moment. She'll be getting the chop as soon as the swell ends. Really nice sweet citrus smell coming off these PO CBD's. PO CBD #2 - still has a way to go by the looks of it. Bit worried about these buds being airy due to the heat. PO CBD #3 Hydro - also still a long way to go. Her and the PO #2 are pretty much on par. ASD Hydro - still by far the pick of the lot. She's nearing the end of her swell. Pungent fuel like smell coming off her, true to the name. Waiting anxiously for a portable microscope to arrive so I can check those trichs. She's put on a fair amount of mass, a lot more I reckon if the temps were ideal. BK Hydro - the flop of the lot. I hate this plant and I think she knows it lol its a real pity cos she smells amazing, like fruity candy. The buds have started stretching(due to high heat), the leaves claw no matter how much I flush. Utterly full of shit. I'll give her a last chance with her clone in organic soil that has gone into flower now too (see pic further down) but if she under performs again I won't be keeping the BK around. BK Clone Organic A recent addition to the tent. She has been topped and supercropped to slow her progress to allow the organic sour diesel to catch up to her. She's in my soil mix. ASD Clone Organic - Also just added to the tent. Let's see how these two do against the hydro siblings. They will have an advantage as I will be sorting out that heat issue. Im sure the next update will be when I'm most likely chopping the ASD and PO #1 Till then
