My current grow is using 19.1 kw/units per 24h. I'm running 1000w(600w + 400w) lights in my flower tent and a 200w light in my veg tent. The fans are pulling 88w. You need to work out consumption in order to work out cost so the best thing to do is break your grow down to each piece of equipment that is using electricity and work from there: I'm gonna use my grow as an example here: Firstly it really helps to measure what each device is actually pulling and not go by the indicated wattage for the device i.e. a 600w HPS may use a little more than 600w, especially with magnetic ballasts. My 600W HPS and 400W HPS are collectively pulling a total of 1115w and not 1000W. If you have a prepaid meter it should be able to tell you the wattage being used in the house. An easy way to measure each devices true wattage is to have the device off, check the current wattage use in the house in the meter and note the amount, then turn the device on, note usage and work out the difference. Here's how to work out total consumption: The formula is : Device wattage X time(hours) device is on Flowering Lights: 1115w x 12 = 13 380 Veg Light: 200w x 18 = 3600 Fans(2 extractor fans and 2 oscillating Fans): 88w x 24 = 2112 We then add these totals together: 13 380 + 3600 + 2112 = 19 092 So that gives me 19 092 watts which is the total number of watts my grow uses every 24 hours. Or 19.1 kilowatts, or 19.1 units... whichever way you wanna look at it. To work out cost Formula: Total daily usage X Price per unit(kilowatt hour) Daily cost: 19.1 x R2.44 = R46.60 Monthly cost: 46.60 x 30 = R1398-00 Hope this helps

Its hard to say with any certainty what the main differences are until I compare them to their clones in the opposite medium. Right now things are still in the balance. If I was to compare the two organic P.O's to the one hydro P.O I would say the organics are ahead and looking better but they are 3 different pheno's so again there's no certainty there. The blue kush and sour diesel clones are about 2 weeks away from being added to the flower tent. They are both in soil. The only noticeable difference I'm seeing right now is the stems. The hydro stems are quite a bit thicker than the organic's. Will take a pic tonight if I get a chance Thanks Hochy I see they have a little warehouse here by me. I don't know much about this lithuanian variety... is it essentially the same as canadian SPM?

Entries close this Friday so will let this one slide as you have used a tag previously but usually every update should contain the tag in at least 1 photo -

@Longee we need a tag there please bud -
Thanks for this I will definitely try make a plan. My ph pen has a thin sponge that sits at the end of the cap which is meant to be moistened with the appropriate solution. I think I have a tiny bit of ph 4 solution but its a few years old. Should I use that or would ph 7 solution work at all for now? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

The Clubs feature on the forum is now active. Clubs are essentially sub-communities which members can create and join themselves See the types of clubs below: ------------------------------------------------------------------ Club Types Public clubs Clubs that any forum member can see and participate in without joining. Open club Clubs that anyone can see but cannot participate in unless they join. Closed club Clubs that anyone can see in the directory, but joining must be approved by a Club Leader or Club Moderator. Non-club-members who view the club will only see the member list - not the recent activity or content areas. Private club Clubs that do not show in public, and users must be invited by a Club Leader or Club Moderator ------------------------------------------------------------------ Every club that gets created gets submitted to the admin and mods for approval. Once your club gets approved you can manage your club. Managing a club involves creating the club's own forums, moderating the club, as well as approving/rejecting members. You can find the Clubs link in the main menu under Browse

The only issue with those is they don't oscillate, I like to vary the breeze on the plants.

@SkunkPharm would you be able to show more of your plant? -
Jamie knows a great deal about organics and has been developing his soil for years. Definitely a commercially available soil to try out
-
Finally got to getting the fan out the way. The fan is bigger than I wouldve liked but couldnt find any smaller. What ways have you guys suspended fans in your tents?
-
Can work ya but you run the risk of wood rot, fungus, mold and all that nasty shit. Something you'd prefer to keep out of your space. Tried bamboo once and that didn't go well. Those thin pvc pipes should do EDIT: sorry I didnt read you say you put the rods underneath the floor of the tent. That should work yes. As long as no water gets in contact with the wood
-
Nice bru, interested to see how these lights treat you. Try and get those pots suspended above ground, you don't want them sitting flat on the floor

I've been using the PH-80 for a few months now. What I've found that after a week and a bit the pen goes up by 0.2 i.e it reads 7.2 when sticking it in a 7.0 solution, so be sure to calibrate quite often. Other than that its shap Perhaps it because I'm using plain water to moisten the sponge thingy in the cap, and not storage solution.

Been a while since we've seen an entry here. You guys holding on till the end? -
Coco definitely has its place in growing, and its still a great option for soil. I just decided to choose the one over the other. Based on what I've read and not what I've seen with my own eyes. The only way to truly know is to mix up two different soil batches. One with peat moss in, and the other with coco in... probably will try that actually
-
How come though? What puts you off it?
-
Just from reading up basically. Of course highly debatable it seems peat moss is the best choice. Higher CEC, I dont have to flush the hell out of it before mixing, like with coco and because the tap water PH here is high, my thinking is the acidity of the peat moss will balance it out, coupled with the lime of course. A few sites and growers claim the same, but here's what KIS organics has to say Pros of Peat Moss: Free of weed seeds, pests and pathogens. Can absorb up to 20 times its weight in water. Contains beneficial microorganisms. Acidic pH (a "pro" in my opinion because you can add highly alkaline amendments to it). Contains a variety of elements, especially sulfur, which helps with proper terpene expression. Excellent habitat for beneficial microorganisms. Harvested in North America, which reduces the fossil fuel impact to get it to the United States. Holds 10x to 20x its dry weight in water. Better C:N ratio than coco coir. Cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 100-200. Cons of Peat Moss: Depletes peat bogs, which requires them to be re-built or sustainably harvested. Naturally hydrophobic, meaning if allowed to dry out it will be slow to accept water. Needs to be kept evenly moist for optimal plant growth and health. Requires hydrating before use. Pros of Coco Coir: Coir pH usually runs 6 – 6.7. "Renewable" resource - byproduct of the coconut industry. Easier to rewet than peat moss, is not hydrophobic. Usually cheaper than peat moss. Different reports list coco as having a water capacity ranging from 8x to 30x it's own weight. Excellent habitat for microorganisms. Free of weed seeds, pests, and pathogens. Breaks down slower than peat due to high lignin content. Cation Exchange Capacity of 40-60. Cons of Coco Coir: High salinity unless properly washed. Quality can vary depending on batch and source of material. Higher fossil fuel cost to get the coir to the United States from tropical regions. Does not contain many trace elements. Does not contain microorganisms. Traditionally high in sodium and potassium which can lead to calcium or magnesium deficiencies unless properly treated. Requires hydrating before use. Increased incidence of nasobronchial allergy among workers in this industry due to the high amount of dust created. Some peat in tropical regions is being sprayed with pesticides like neonicotinoids, one of the pesticides most commonly linked to honey bee death.

Flower day 40 It's been a while since my last update. With all the upgrades going on my focus has largely been on that. The whole crop is still looking good. Progress is good for some and not so great for others. The pick of the bunch is definitely the Amherst sour diesel below(in hydro). Buds are building up nicely and the frost is frosting. Definitely a plant I'll be keeping around. Looking forward to seeing how she'll turn out in my soil. Blue Kush below. She is just one those female's that you can never please, one moment she's hungry and the next she's overfed. Just way more fussy than the rest but she smells great and hopefully she'll surprise me towards the end. The last hydro plant. The Purple orange CBD seed #3. Plant is looking good, just not much resin or budding to show at present. She has been slow to flower since the switch. Much slower than her organic siblings, that'll be down to genetics though Im sure and not the medium. Purple Orange CBD #1 - Organic Purple Orange CBD #2 - organic
