  1. They're in the final pots. A little worried about whether those 20L pots will be enough for the organics to be honest, especially without any substantial feeding... but will see, perhaps I may have to get some Biobizz as backup. The hydros will be fine. Will be flipping to 12/12 today What are you using to keep your hydro cool ? I've never grown hydro and will be attempting / building my first hydro setup in the coming weeks. All the hydro coolers i've looked around for cost in the region of around 9K... I think you're under the impression that I'm growing in deep water culture which I'm not. Just growing in coco/perlite, top feed drain to waste. Never grown in DWC personally.
  2. Thanks dude. I'm still a bit nervous about the organics towards the latter stages. You're trying a similar recipe right?

  4. My apologies bud you're 110% right, I actually made this into its own thread shortly after my lazy reply to allow guys to answer your question. Was actually meant to remove my reply cos as you say, that's what the forum is here for you're more than welcome to change the thread title if you want.
  5. I remember this issue when I was still in the cape all too well. Having a box with a ventilation fan wont do the job if the fan is pulling in air with a high humidity anyway, the box may decrease the RH a few % if at all. Unfortunately the next step is an expensive one... you'll most likely need a dehumidifier. I had to use my portable AC's dehumidifier function
  6. I would tell you bud but Google will be your best friend in this case as you'll get far more comprehensive answers... Just google each term followed by the word "cannabis" e.g search " Fluxing cannabis" "LST cannabis" and so on.
  7. I was well impressed with Trophy seeds service and I really hope he goes the distance. I don't think he's overpriced, I assume he orders from seed banks overseas(retail) and so has to make some kind of profit.
  8. Quick update The organics got their compost tea on Sunday. Just a straight forward brew with ewc and molasses only. Started the brew on Friday night Almost time to flip the original 5 plants and get the newly potted clones into their own veg tent. Pic taken last night Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  9. So a brief read says that autoflowering is a genetic trait that evolved in strains that were situated in areas with very long days. Makes more sense than the assumption I had that breeders manipulate like they do with fems With regard to clones... I would like clarity on this as well cause my assumption is that if you grow out an auto seed and then top it and use the top as a clone, the clone will still flower at the same time as the mother plant and not "reset", so you really wont have much time to clone. Im not even sure if auto growers do top the plant? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  10. I don't hate on autos personally, I just wouldn't buy an auto seed out of choice. I prefer control over when the plant starts to flower as you can decide how big you want the plant to be. I also don't trust the genetics. I don't fully know the science behind how they make it flower automatically but it's been manipulated to behave "unnaturally" and that just puts me off and to me seems likely to produce issues. I guess its a purist thing. If I had the choice I'd only be growing out regulars as even fems tend to have their issues but the pros outweigh the cons in that case. To this day the fattest buds I have grown out came from a reg seed.... I wouldn't say autos are any easier to grow than regs or fems either. The feeding regimen stays the same. I also can't see how changing the light hours is a hassle. The only way I can see it being a hassle is if the grower can't afford a timer and therefore wants to run on a permanent 24h light schedule all the way through. In that case the excessive electricity used would actually far exceed the price of a timer.... Also, you can't clone autos. The only use I see for autos is outdoors, where the seasons dictate when your plant will flower. You can cheat that with autos and get more harvests in a year. Again, I'm not hating or being funny here but that is the only benefit I see to autos. What I see a lot is that beginner growers almost always think that autos are the one's to go for but personally I would never suggest it to them. As Josh says, they don't give you turnaround time so if you stuff up along the way you are costing yourself come harvest time or you may not be able to recover the plant.
  11. Another article covering how much worse alcohol is for you than cannabis. Problem is, what difference do all these articles make when the lawmakers are clearly turning a blind eye... We took a scientific look at whether dagga or alcohol is worse for you — and there appears to be a winner https://www.businessinsider.co.za/alcohol-marijuana-which-worse-health-2017-11? shared via @News24 Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  12. Don't get me wrong I do know of the benefits and yes it will make a difference but its another cost I would just prefer to avoid as the plants can do without added co2 Interested to hear about your R50 co2 generator though
  13. Growguru sent the bottle to me to test out. No way you'll see me paying R250 every 2 weeks for co2. Adding co2 to a grow like this doesn't seem worthwhile to me anyway but hey... let's see
  14. Time for a little update I topped and cloned the sour diesel and the P.O #3 last Saturday. Unfortunately the P.O #1 clone didn't root so I cut a little further up the stem, dipped in root gel and will try again with that one. Fortunately the P.O#2 clone and B.K clone both rooted nicely and are now in their respective mediums. The P.O #2 goes into the hydro mix and the B.K goes into my organic seedling mix. Here's the B.K clone Here's a pic from the tent last night. The B.K is starting to catch up to the organics even though the B.K always seems a bit hungry to me, even when I up the feeds she just doesn't seem to respond like the other 2 hydros, it may be a funny pheno or she's just a heavy feeder. The 2 organics will get their first compost tea this Saturday Grow guru sent this to me a short while ago. Will be hard to know how much difference it is actually making. Bit of a skeptic with these but let's see.

  16. A few stores sell them now. Organics matter near me sells the freedom pots too. They're quite pricey so I wanna make my own in hope that it'll save me a bit of cash
  17. This guy uses a material called "eco felt". Also looks similar to geotextile. https://www.420magazine.com/community/threads/diy-fabric-grow-pots-cannabags-made-from-eco-felt.204644/ As mentioned I bought felt the other day. The light permeability is minimal which is good but the material is just a bit stretchy, I dont think it'll tear but I wouldve like something a little more stiff Heres a pic of it, I might just stick with this
  18. I don't think so. I think the one we should be looking for is probably the heat bonded one. Google "geotextile" and then look under the images tab, then also google "fabric pots" and look under the images tab. The majority of the fabric pots use that specific type. Here's geotextile Here's a few examples of different fabric pots Can you see the similarity in material used? I think the non woven poly is the fabric they use for re-usable shopping bags. Here's non woven polypropylene . Seems like it would work too but the majority seem to use the material above
  19. What are the best available fabric pots on the local market? I don't think you'll find much difference between all the fabric pots available locally, or abroad for that matter. If they can hold up and are UV resistant then they'll do the job. I'm looking at the geotextile as that what seems to be commonly used.
  20. Does anyone know where you can find geotextile material like they use to make fabric pots? The method of making them is relatively easy, finding the right material is proving difficult. I got some felt from a local material wholesaler and seems alright for the job, it just isn't as stiff and durable as the material on my store bought fabric pots.
  21. Have been feeding about every 3-4 days, waiting for the pots to get dryish. Always have done that in the beginning stages and then upped the tempo in the latter. Now that they're in their new pots it's every 2 days. I've never seen the need to go more frequently. A mate of mine has pointed out this dude to me lately. His name is Don Juan Matus. The guy feeds 6 times a day with no runoff, its crazy but the reasoning behind it makes plenty sense. Here's his thread on icmag https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=300255 Definitely gonna give this method a try with 1 or 2 plants later on
  22. Hope you guys are enjoying your Saturday so far! We've just updated our logo. Hope you guys like the new look If you're still seeing the old logo press Ctrl + F5 or clear your browser cache
  23. Right now the organic plants are way ahead. If you compare the hydro P.O and organic P.O's there's a big difference in growth. To be honest that's not what I expected, as the common perception is that hydro is a quicker grower but that's not the case here.Yes, the hydro P.O is a different pheno but I can just tell with the overall health of the plants as well. The leaves on the organic feel and look healthier...with that being said I do feel that I've been a bit infrequent with the hydro feedings and am going to be feeding more frequently now. I think once we pass week 3 or 4 of flower I think we can re-assess things. My humic is the Growguru humic mix in liquid form. First time using it. It's also available from Organics matter in granular form. Below is a pic of the plants taken this evening. Hydross settling well into their new pots Top row(left to right): Purple Orange #3 Hydro, Amherst Sour Diesel Hydro, Blue Kush Bottom row(left to right): Purple Orange #2 Soil, Purple Orange #1 Soil Have a top weekend!
