  1. What extraction fan are you using? Is there no way to turn the fan speed down a bit. If not I'd suggest using more passive intakes or even having a small intake fan. Are there no available holes for more intakes? The tent being sucked in is a good sign because it means you've got good positive pressure going. Mine does the same but nothing excessive
  2. So things are going well so far with my soil mix This is one plant in the soil now. I transplanted her into a 20L fabric pot with my soil mix about 2 weeks ago and growth has exploded. It's a Vision seeds La Blanca Gold So far no bottled nutrients or fertilizers have been used, the only thing that has come from a bottle is coconut water which the plant seems to love. I've started a cover crop with alfalfa and top dressed with worm castings. Prior to the transplant I used just plain water, compost teas and alfalfa teas. I'm spraying her with neem oil once a week to keep pests away I have another seedling(Barneys Farm Cookies Kush - freebie seed) that has been having a real tough time. I've just transplanted her into the soil mix as well and she's looking better already. Must be genetic cos she's been on the exact same regime as the la blanca Of course flower is when the real test comes. Will keep you updated

  9. The laws are still how they've always been until the con court confirms the new law change. If a cop finds you in your home smoking weed they will arrest you If you're going to risk growing and you get busted, remember to not plea anything, pay no admission of guilt fines or kak like that, explain to the magistrate that you were using it in your own private home, apparently your case will then be thrown out, or stayed till the law change, not too sure on that...
  10. Having ventilation isn't just about controlling temp. Besides from controlling humidity, it's also about bringing fresh air in all the time to ensure the plants get as much co2 as possible. If you have no fresh air coming in, the co2 in the air trapped in the cab, will slowly become depleted.
  11. It's a start bud and it can work. Have you thought about ventilation? What light you gonna use? I reckon you should lie it along the length of your cab, should get a bit more spread that way
  12. Hi guys just a quick question. I believe neem oil can be used to control gnat populations with an IPM. Is it then suggested that you spray the top of the soil with neem oil?

  16. 420SA's going to have a new extension added to the website in the nearby future in the form of a online News/Magazine site. It will be linked to this forum and members will be able to comment on articles and some members will be able to write articles themselves. Which brings me to ask if anyone would be keen on voluntarily writing articles for our new mag section? It could be a news article or any topic you have knowledge on or feel strongly about. It could be a tutorial as well. You'll still be posting under the same anonymous Nick that you have on this forum. Each article will go through me for approval and a quick proof read after which your article will be published live. Let me know if you'd be keen :thumbups
  17. With that budget you can sort yourself out quite nicely. I reckon a tent is much better than that cupboard. You can fold up and pack a tent away, plus a tent is more versatile and has the right holes for ducting. Maybe look at the 120/70/165 tent at gthydro. Use a 6" fan with scrubber and you might be able to keep the heat down with that. I'm not sure if a 600W bulb will get too hot in there, its hard to say. What side of the country are you from? Winter is approaching which is a good thing for indoor growers and heat.

  21. A simple straight forward way make to make cannabis infused coconut oil
  22. Shrimp meal is a great fertilizer for a living soil. It's rich in nitrogen, phosphorous and calcium. Plus it contains chitin. This post sums up chitin pretty well http://www.rollitup.org/t/chitin-chitoson-and-chitinase.604708/ have a read The only problem is that we don't get shrimp or crustacean meal in SA.... no problem though cause it's actually really easy to make at home. You just have to get hold of some prawn shells or crab shells, bake them and then ground them up. Before I go further, let me just warn that you better be prepared for the stench of baking prawn shell to linger in your house a bit... So what I did was use some prawn shells left over from a meal. I had 15 queen prawn shells to work with and my goal was to get at least a cup of shrimp meal I first rinsed off the shells under a warm tap to wash off most of the oils, sauces and and any extra flesh that was left on the shells. I then soaked them in hot water for an hour, drained the water and let them sit for a while I then pre-heated the oven to 200. Put the prawns into an oven dish And baked the shells in the oven for 1h30min Some baked prawn shell anyone? The shells are now very light and crumble very easily and are ready to be ground up into a "meal". I put the shells in a blender and ground them up for about 10 minutes. In the attempt that I made on this post I used a shitty blender which is why my end product didn't come out as finely ground as I would have liked but apparently shrimp meal breaks down rapidly so I should be alright. I'd suggest you use a coffee grinder or something to that effect. Here's what I ended up with, about 3/5 of a cup of shrimp meal. Not what I was gunning for but I got some at least Sprinkle it onto your soil mix and mix it in thoroughly There we go... hopefully as time goes by we can refine this method if it needs it. Try your luck with your local seafood restaurant, they might do you a solid one and keep their prawn or crab shells for you. As you can see you need a lot of shells. I would say at least 30 average sized prawns if possible. If you can get crab shell you might be able to make up the required quantity easier. Give it a go, would love to see someone else's results.
  23. Where do you find glacial dust SS? I can only find basalt(turbo grow) here in SA
