Its been 8 days since I took the clones. I reckon they must be rooted now as they're looking very lively and I found them fully upright this morning inside a very dry dome which I believe is a sign that they have rooted? As I say this is my first time cloning so any advice is needed. When should I transfer them to medium and should I start feeding them while still in the jiffy pellet?

Wallis I'm speaking purely from my experience here and I'm not saying this may be the case with others but I find that Hortishop's promix(which hydroponic.co.za sells) comes preloaded with something, perhaps it's a lot of cal mag (I welcome corrections) Anyways so it burnt the hell out of my seedlings from a previous grow. I'd recommend a thorough flush before using their promix just to make sure. Where do you stay? If in cpt, shoot down to hortishop in Kenilworth and get their PH testing kit and follow the instructions. Other option is to buy a PH pen if you're willing to spend 700 bucks and upwards. RO water basically contains no nutrients in it at all. Where tap water contains a bit of calcium and other substances, RO water has all of those removed. I started using RO water and one thing you have to watch out for is a magnesium or calcium deficiency so you need to supplement the water with epsom salts or horti's cal mag. I believe peat moss also helps. In the end you may as well just stick to tap water if a RO water dispenser isn't around the corner from you. If there's an OASIS waters factory shop near you they sell RO water at a rand a litre! As for nutes. What nutes are you gonna use?

Hi Folks It's day 43 today of veg and a lot has changed since my last update. Did it a little bit of cloning on the weekend so the plants are looking rather torn up since the last update lol main reason for the cloning is purely for learning purposes. Nevertheless they will recover! Topped and cloned the TBH, AMS and the B2B. I quite like how the B2B is bushing out, which is needed seeing as it's displaying a definite sativa dominance. Also re potted the B2B and the TBH since the last update. The AMS was a great looking plant until it started to show a mag deficiency last week which hurt her a bit, so after the topping she's looking really bare, mainly due to the fact that the fan leaves died from the mag def... The Kings Kush really is a hopeless plant that I really should chuck but haven't got the guts to, hanging onto my last hopes with her which is why I've added another 2 seeds to this grow as you can see on the left. A Jack Herer and a Bubba Kush, both fem Oh yea one more thing, I've also switched back to a 400w MH for the vegging. I may hold off on the updates for a bit while the plants recover properly and get back into some proper growth. Till then Apologies for the poor photo quality this time!

This is by no means advertising for both parties involved, it's purely out of interest I found out through FB that Holy Smoke Seeds are selling their strains through GSR. I'm currently growing one of their strains and been doing some reading up on them, turns out they're quite well reputed and have won a few awards. Some of you may know that Holy Smoke originally started in SA and then moved over to Europe. Any thoughts on this new addition to GSR's range? Seeing as Holy Smoke has granted this operation would you be more inclined to buy those genetics from GSR?

That's actually what I do now. Soak the seeds in a shot glass for 24 hours then transfer them to the cotton wool. The cotton wool may not even be necessary sometimes.

Gave it some really deep thought GarethL, considering that you seem like a really good grower and all, so we finally came to the conclusion that we can definitely NOT take your word that your plants look amazing perhaps next time, but probably not

Nope didn't flip them. My metal Halide started developing this really odd looking build up in the filament. Kinda like a greenish substance... so I stopped using the MH. This HPS is a Sunmaster Dual Spec which can be used for Flowering and Vegging, apparently.

Update at day 33 I've arrived home to some wonderful looking ladies! except the KK which has always been been a troubled child however she is showing signs of improvement :thumbups Many thanks to my mate who has rather fortunately (for his sake) looked after the plants really well!
