  1. Yes, I'm using a 650w PC PSU Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  2. Here we go, cobs in place, but still needs to be mounted. Had to dismantle my first prototype, using the COBs on this newly made cooler. Wattage upped to 750w with the addition of 220v 50w cob. Breakdown as folkows: 4 x 100w 220v 5 x 50w 12v 2 x 50w 220v Ive left enough space between the back fins to add more if needed, but hopefully the current fins will be enough. That's it for the morning, will probably finish it off this evening. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  3. Progress, should have made it 300 x 760, would have given slightly better coverage, but it would have looked a lot better. Nevertheless, I'll let it dry nicely and start marking the COB locations Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  4. So just a little update, ran out of materials, so will need to go shopping just now.... Would look pretty damn good if the right tools were used... So far so good Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah, you can place more than one order, but their 2 for 1 is apparently not running anymore Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  6. I see they don't have the square chips, but they are running a 2 for 1 special at the moment. I just ordered myself a few round ones as well :) https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F162819481232 Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  7. Builders warehouse :) alu angle... Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  8. The ones I'm using I bought off ebay, just check ratings. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  9. Yes, straight 220v Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  10. Having grown and smoked the very same strain before, yes, yes I can. In my case it was the real deal. I lost the strain when I moved, so was very happy to get the same thing from a local distributor. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  11. I think there is some miss communication here, or whoever did it got some skewed info. HBO is sometimes referred to as honey. There is absolutely no reason to put normal honey on anything you are planning to smoke. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  12. Shipping is generally free... I started a new thread on the light I'm busy building which includes the costs, check it out. https://www.420sa.co.za/topic/2519-700w-12v220v-led-cob-combo/?tab=comments#comment-28314 Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  13. All the talking about this project gave me an itch to start. Discovered that I will need quite a bit more alu than expected, so frame which is also the heatsink will probably cost around R550 by the time I'm done. Cost of 100w COBs: R120 x 4 Cost of 50 12v COBs: R45 x 6 Cost of frame: R550 Cost of 12v fans: R40 x 2 Will post pics as I make progress, but light will be finished and hanging over the weekend. Frame size is 600mm x 300mm 12v fans wil be connected for active cooling. As always, input is welcomed. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  14. Yes, however, those will need drivers. The ones I have been buying have built in drivers, unless you're going 12v, which also won't need drivers, but obviously you'll needs a pretty strong psu This pic is of a 220v 50w with built in driver Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  15. I can't really give you an exact amount ie g/w, but coming from many years of growing under HID, the results are quite compatible. I find the COBs produce denser buds than the HID did. Big selling point on LEDs for me was the reduction in ambient temperature. I had to run AC with HID, where with LED I almost had to introduce a heater but avoided this by adding more COBs :) Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  16. Maybe something worth mentioning is that I intend on building my own heatsink for the most part anyway using angled and flat alu strips. Experimental, so i will be monitoring the temperature closely for the first few hours. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  17. Perhaps a future phase :), for now I'm just trying to get to my targets of 700w for vegging and 2000w for flowering. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  18. I think Charlotte's web was one of the first in this space, a lot of other CBD strains derive from Charlotte's web. Nirvana seeds also have a CBD strain that can contend here, again, derived from the CW strain. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  19. Cool tube reflectors work well for heat extraction, I mean, that's the point. I would rather, if funds allow, get a normal hood with extraction, cool tubes don't reflect as well as a normal reflector. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  20. I'm using crypto Miner coolers, which are too expensive if you don't have faulty miners lying around. Using 100w 22v cobs, I have 10 of them at the moment and got myself quite a few 50w cobs to allow extra coverage. 700w will be for my vegging tent. Here are a few pics of the ones already built, but I want to cover a larger area with a single unit. You can always use a cpu cooler for a single chip, just remember the light spread with cobs are minimal. Results with 4 x 100w cobs. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=https://www.420sa.co.za/topic/1802-c99-germination-date-08-jan-2019/&share_tid=1802&share_fid=155892&share_type=t Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  21. Give it time, I'm sure it's coming, unless of course, they are paying the right bribes to the right individuals... Speaking of which, anyone know if Haze (ex-420 Cafe) is still operating? If they are, I'm sure their prices must've been adjusted by now. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  22. Most of my cobs are off ebay, takes 6 - 10 weeks to get here, but time was going to pass regardless of ordering or not, right? Planning a 700w (220v/12v mix) prototype build this weekend, will post some pics when I'm done. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  23. Very well ventilated area, like outside if possible. Just watch out for bugs and dust Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  24. Spot on, especially after the industry boom. Referring to@Oolong83's earlier post, when you buy an outdoor strain, ie lemon skunk, the seeds in that baggie has some lemon skunk origin perhaps, but more than likely 50% the seeds produced is a poorly grown Swazi from the neighbours' first grow, thinking his growing poison but its a male. Don't get me wrong, I've grown out some very nice bagseed, but it certainly wasn't the strain I bought in that 'bankie' Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
  25. I am interested to see some information to substantiate this claim. Isopropyl is practically pure alcohol, toxic when accidentally ingested in large quantities sure, much like whiskey or brandy or any other 43% forms of alcohol, sold over the counter at your NBS, you would just need to ingest a lot more due to most isos being 90%+ alcohol, more than double what's available over the counter in a liquor store. Iso is by no means toxic for extraction, perhaps not as effective as ethanol, but still a very clean method of extraction. Butane on the other hand is a different story, personally I'm not a fan of BHO for this very reason. Butane extractions can be 'cleaned' using iso, and made purer using ethanol as a third step, but now we're talking some seriously pure extract, too expensive for most DIYers.
