Exodus Cheese, Training Day & Kaas - Indoor Organic Soil Grow
ajcapetown replied to ajcapetown's topic in Grow Diaries
Week 7 update... I can feel my fingers itching to harvest! Some of the Kaas will come down at 56 days depending on how they look under the microscope but I'd say they are almost ready. The others I think I may leave to about 9 weeks. Unfortunately you can't see it in the pics but the plants are as yellow as bananas.. probably because the last watering was just a fresh water flush. They smell amazing though and I'm happy with the buds! Will post some final pics once I harvest. -
why u should always filter an intake
ajcapetown replied to Green Leaf Organics's topic in Indoor Growing
Thanks for sharing Reaf! I use a stocking over my intake ducts... should probably get something more like what you have there as fine dust can still penetrate a stocking. -
Hey Guys I potted up to the 4 litre pots on the 29th of March. Well within 2 weeks they had exploded and I felt it was time to pot up again. This time to 12 litre pots. As always I used mycorrhizal fungi on the roots and worm castings. Jamie's garden shop supplied more soil and off I went. I also put rooibos mulch on the top, an even covering over the surface. This was kind of an experiment I tried but I'm glad I did. It prevents messing when I water and it smells really great! ( I love rooibos tea though ) It also has a bunch of other benefits and it's really cheap. The mycorrhizal fungi actually only has to be applied to roots once as it attaches itself and then grows on the roots but it does no harm so I use it every time I pot up. At this point the I had not given 1 nutrient.. plain water at ph6.2. The living soil was more than enough to keep them healthy and happy! Once they were potted up I moved them into my tent under the blackstar 240 LED. Some more pics..

Thanks Bert! Going to be making one shortly, reckon I can put it together in an hour!

Sorry to see that 420, so disappointing when it happens. I agree with all the comments here, I have had one disappointment after another with GHS, from failed germinations to plants that have just been sick and weak to Hermies.. When I had some heat issues recently it was my GHS seeds plants that bombed out the fastest whereas some of the other plants handled the heat with absolutely no problem whatsoever. I have got 2 plants on the go that are actually really healthy from GHS and they are Super Lemon Haze. Whether they will stay strong and not hermie through flowering is yet to be seen. Agreed that USA are starting to come to the party, my Barney's stuff and Humboldt Blue Dream that I'm growing at the moment are probably the strongest most healthy plants I have ever grown.

Thanks Guys Yes this grow is going completely organic. Here's some more pics of how they grew. On the 29th of March they had outgrown their little pots so I moved them into white 4 litre pots. When I potted up I added some Mycorhizzal fungi into the hole to make contact with the roots. This beneficial fungi then attaches itself to the roots as they grow through. I also sprinkled some worm castings into the holes and they were put into an organic living soil created by Jamie's Garden Shop.

Wow, neat work and plenty of planning went into that. Looking forward to seeing it in action? When do you plan to start growing? Will you grow from clone?

Hey Guys I've had this grow going for a couple months now and have been putting pics together etc but decided I would only start logging it when flowering starts. I have another group of girls flowering as many of you have seen by another grow log I'm doing. I had planned to only flower this bunch after the other lot finished but due to their size I had to start. I'm going to do it bit by bit over the next few days, starting from the beginning and getting to where I am now. STRAINS: Barney's Farm - Critical Kush x2 Greenhouse Seed Co - Super Lemon Haze x 2 Humboldt Seed Organization - Blue Dream x 1 Kaas - Started from clone x1 Training Day - Started from Clone x1 I also had an Exodus Cheese clone taken off a mother I grew from seed but due to my continually disappointing results from it I put her outside and she's currently flowering.. getting watered when I remember. I started the seeds off in cotton pads, nothing fancy.. didn't even use my heating mat for them. Within a couple of days I had tap roots. At that point I made up a mix of potting soil / mushroom compost / perlite. The mushroom compost and potting soil I just bought at the nursery. I grow my vegetables in that mix and it works wonders so though why not try with my cannabis. The plants broke through and grew beautifully. I had them under an LED light in the beginning. The first cotyledons broke through on the 6th of March. By 12 March they were all threw the soil and growing. Here's some pics...

Thanks for the input guys. Bubble cloner it is then! Should put an end to the problem once and for all. Do you guys build your own bubble cloners or buy ready made ones? If so where are you buying from? Cheers Adam

Hi guys I often get this problem with my clones, they usually always pull through but it's annoying and delays their growth. It always starts around day 7/8. Could it be a n deficiency? I've always thought that nutes shouldn't be given to clones until they root so I don't give them anything until close to 14 days.. This time I have actually given them a bit of bio grow to see if that works but I'm on day 11 now and they are still wilting. Mostly new growth and they don't all do it. I gave the nutes yesterday which may have been a bit late if it is a deficiency. Could it be that the medium is too wet? Too much light? I have them under HID but at a distance of close to a meter so I don't think it's that. I used jiffy pellets and rockwool cubes but they seem to be both doing it. Any advice from the expert cloners?? When do you start giving your clones nutes? I ph'd the rock wool to 5.5 and the jiffy to 6.5. As I said I know they will survive because this has happened many times before and they come right once they get into soil but it would be nice to know what I'm doing wrong.

Have you managed to get a PH reader yet friend? I'd highly suggest getting one, if your PH is wrong you could be locking out certain minerals.

Exodus Cheese, Training Day & Kaas - Indoor Organic Soil Grow
ajcapetown replied to ajcapetown's topic in Grow Diaries
Hey Guys Week 6 ended on Friday and all is well. Hoping to harvest a couple of the girls in 2 weeks but will keep an eye on them. I took Green Leaf's advice and pushed the Bio Bloom ratio up while keeping the grow the same. This stuff is really good, not the cheapest but it never burns. Looks like I should get a decent yield, not quite as big as I hoped due to the heat stress they suffered early on, the buds haven't gotten as big as they could have and I don't think they are as sticky as they could be for these strains but perhaps they will surprise me in the next 2 weeks. -
I brought my own LED light in from Gotham Hydro in the States... a Blackstar 240 watt. Set me back about R4000 with shipping etc. So far it's been a great little light, great for clones and has done well vegging a space of about 90cmx60cm. I've had it running almost permanently for a year now.. not a single problem. I've never used it for flowering although I have got it in a tent now combined with a 600 HID. Hoping to start flowering in there by the next week Friday and will see how it goes. I must be honest I don't think it would have the penetration to flower anything over about 50cm in height as the light only has power for a short distance. I should really do a test with it one of these days and see what it can do for flowering. Here's a pic with it next to my HID. You can see by the last pic how far it got the plants without the HID.. I think it did really well. Once I added the HID the growth sped up though obviously!

Looking good Basil.. why the name change? Didn't you want people to know your real name... which is Burt?? Interested to see how these plants do!

Hey Guys Most of my grow has been harvested now. I got about 300 grams of good quality bud which I have been using, cooking with etc. The one plant alone produced about 450 grams of dried bud, could cry when I think about how good it would have been without seeds! The rest of the really seeded crap I have put aside and will be hashing it in the next week or so. I have a friend who does dry sift so we are going to make some melt with it. I still have one plant standing, this girl has got the odd seed but I managed to pull the hermie before too much damage was done. She's really doing well, nice sticky buds.. many of them don't have seeds at all. She will probably come down in about 3 weeks, with the rain last night I woke up to her being almost pushed right over due to the weight this morning. I'll pop home at lunch time and if she's still down a lot I'll have to tie her up some more. I'd estimate I'm going to get about 500-600 grams off her. Here's a few pics

Thanks guys! Reaf, funny you should say that... it's all I've been using. Has worked well for me in organic soil. At the moment I'm using 2ml Bio grow per Liter and 1ml Bio Bloom per Liter. Going to push it up to 2.5ml grow and 1.5ml bloom p/liter when I water tomorrow. Gareth A.K.A Basil of Bothasig.. see you soon bud haha! -

Hey guys Week 5 into the grow and things are picking up, I've noticed a big improvement in bud size over the last week and the aroma is getting really potent now. My wife keeps moaning at me cos I come out of my grow room smelling like a plant every evening. I wait until 8pm and go in literally as lights come on haha! Plants are still yellowing quite a bit so I have pushed up the nitrogen more, I'll need to start flushing in the next week or 2 so but going to push the nitrogen up one more time until flushing starts. So far no burning at all, I do use organic nutes only though. Cheers for now! -
Wow man, Stellar grow! Those buds look mighty tasty! Looking forward to seeing your next one!
-
Wow that is crazy, and we have HolySmoke right here in our presence on 420SA!! Feel like we have a celebrity here Excellent stuff!

Hey bud I did eventually yes. Got hold of the supplier who sent me a wiring diagram. Had to wire up a seperate switch... Doesn't look pretty at all but at least it's working. I can dim with 2 options now, either 300 watts or full power at 600 watts.

I'll go check them out, could probably just leave them on 24/7 then hey? Would the hid light charge them?
-
Guys I know Admin had a post up recently about load shedding, or it was a poll asking whether it's affecting your grows. At the time I actually clicked that it wasn't much of a problem for me... however a lot has changed since then. We are getting a minimum of 1 cut a day of around 2.5 hours. On bad days they are cutting us twice to 3 times a day which means my vegging girls can go for as much as 5 - 7 hours without light. If I see on the schedule it's during the day I am trying to move my plants outside so that they can be in the sun but I've missed it countless times. To make matters worse I now see power cuts have been happening while I'm sleeping, last night we had 11pm - 1am. Are you guys doing anything to combat these issues? I'm considering just leaving my lights on 24/7 so that when there are cuts they still get enough light hours but I am sure they are still going to get as confused as shit because the dark periods will be at all different times. My flowering room is better as lights are on from 8pm - 8am but last night it would have only gotten around 10 hours of light. and a broken light period as well. Any tips?? Could HID lighting be run off some sort of battery/solar system? What would it cost to set something up? I watched Nico Escondido's "Grow like a pro" and was quite interested to see a grow setup than ran entirely off solar panels which charged massive batteries... have no idea what it must cost though??
