  1. Anybody here have some knowledge on cost effective battery powered system that could power 20w cfl bulb? Perhaps a usb fan as well Also wonder how it can kick into gear if the power goes off, is there a way to automate? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  2. Any chance of hermie from that kind of stress? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  3. Was wondering what everyone is estimating their power spend at on a monthly basis for growing indoor? Whats your setup and how do you geuss your consumption? I am due to run a 600w HPS soon, and wonder what it will do to my pocket LED 360w has been very forgiving, dont really notice it that much through the month. Maybe 150 a month extra.. 4. Just be careful to shock them - I would move them personally. Do you know how many weeks into flowering? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  5. Haha, lights are mounted. o it was a quick fix - I have a 30 and 65 watt CFL in there, seems to do the babies good without to much of a heat issue! I got the tray at Benbel. Can't remember the damage - think it was about a 100max Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  6. Hey good2grow. Best bet is to let that lady finish her flowering and enjoy the little yield it will bring - then start fresh - new setup and new clones. It is possible to reVeg plants, but not worth the effort in this case. Only when you have a rare pheno that you dont have a clone of - is it worth it. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  7. Here is how I have been hiding them from the heat. Was 32 in my garage yesterday but managed to keep it a mellow 26 in there. Cabinet in the cabinet! Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  8. Update on the girls - All 4 have stuck their heads out (along with 6 others who will get new home a bit later) Happy to say that all 10-seeds I germinated came out and are looking good. 7 Jacks and 3 Criticals. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  9. Thank you, second build. The idea is to Scrog with the Cab, but got my hands on autos, so I thought looking to squeeze a last grow in for the year. As requested: Grow area - 1100mm height (1400mm with chamber) 1006mm wide 440mm deep Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  10. I normally do run at night, but haven't used the 600w setup yet due to the power issue. My previous 360w led works just fine and doesnt pump up the heat, so might still have to revert back when the current ladies are big enough to be potted. I have been avoiding the heat by putting my little veg cabinet in my previous flower cabinet which has an extraction fan. In addition, I sit the tray with seeds on an open bucket which has water in. If the temps are to high, I put a ice pack in the bucket, which cools things down and helps boost humidity along with the water. It was 32 in my garage yesterday and managed to keep my cabinet at 25.5 - :D Here is a view of the girls in there cooled environment. 7 x Jack herer 3 x Critical Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  11. Getting someone to come round this weekend to sort it out. Then I will be good to go. On another topic - Is this heatwave giving anybody in the western cape temp problems? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  12. Whats your feel on having a new dedicated breaker being added to the mix? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks, will look to make a hole through sometime soon. I am using a 3 prong socket. I hooked the light up to every plug in the house, and it tripped - not the plugs, but the earth leakage. Spoke to an electrcian last night and he said it can (looking at the DB) be that the switches are way to old. They tend to get word after time - especially if the power trips for some reason. Had this issue when to many appliances were on at the sometime as well. So will be getting a new switch added, and extra dedicated circuit for the grow. Battle of the elements going om at the moment! First the temps and now the power.. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  14. I will have to do some DIY sometime soon. First having a power issue currently - 600 is tripping the earth leage. As for making a hole in the wall - what is a good way of getting through drywall neatly? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  15. Some great advice. The governing bodies are just quite full of shit, so I would have to do something that I could easily remove. One major issue would be the wind. Where I live we get some the heaviest winds in the cape. Looking to get my own place in the near future. Any ideas on how to maybe do something from the inside?? There is also a garage door that isnt air tight, along with air pockets between pillars that support the roof. So lets the hot or cold in and/or out. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  16. Quick update - most of the tap roots are showing! Tomorrow the seeds will be Jiffyd and go into a little veg cabinet (95w CFL - 65w +30w) till they get potted. Question - If the tap root is peaking out, how long can the seeds still be left in the cotton ball? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  17. Circumstances don't allow. Renting - small space (biggest problem), family of 4, some time constraints etc. Aiming to get a tent soon, but will have to be for a different location. Might have an opportunity to help a friend grow some meds. Keen to see how the law unfolds and how many plants one could legally have growing at one given time. That should maybe help me decide to get another setup - which would then be a tent. Will get a designated grow room when the stars align. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  18. yes, on my way - Got a diary up in the grow diaries thread! Keen to learn and grow with everyone! Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  19. So, I have build a new cabinet. The motivation behind it was: -I like building stuff, despite not being the most handy person -I was having issues with my previous setup (light leaks, smells and mainly noise!) - gives me a reson to hide in the garage from the mrs and kids. I have completed building the cabinet. Picture below. To get a grow out as fast as possible, along with wanting to try something new - I have chosen to go with autoflowers - 2 jack herer auto and 2 critical autos. -Growing in fabric pots - 2l I think, with freedom farm soil. -Running a 360w LED in the cab. The light is quite powerful, so will have to keep the grow low, as I cant adjust the high any further. - 6 inch fan out to a 4inch carbon filter, that is inside a wooden box (chamber) to help control smell and noise. - additional pc fans x 2, used for some circulation. The seeds are currently germinating - cotton ball style - start time yesterday at 18h00. So lets see if all the girls come to say hello! - will update once there has been some movement. For now - any thoughts on how to tackle this one? - considerations for keeping it low? (Scrog or Lst?) - expected time of harvest? Enough from me or now! Time to fill up the medicaine cabinet again. (The cabinet has an intake that was added since that photo. I am to lazy to get up and take a new photo!) Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  20. Looks like the one I have - got it from takealot a while ago - but I can second your statement - only lasts a grow or 2. Takealot wasnt cheap, I recall paying 600 for the meter - which for its use, seems like a ripoff. I have been using the color ph test liquid. Does the trick - but takes away the precision. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  21. A grow room for me seems like the ultimate. Modern living doesnt give one much space - and getting a sizey place that fits the budget isnt all that easy. I would love to have a girl or two out in the sun as well, but not plausible currently. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks for this - will have to make a hole in something I guess! Outside might not be an option, but into another room is on the cards perhaps. I assume the would do the trick, as long as the hot air doesnt have a way to find its self back in? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  23. Wow, great tip! Some old school advise. Would however be a bit awkward seeing as I live in a complex [emoji14] Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  24. Considering being stealthy could be less of a concern in the future (depending on the limit we have on growing our meds) - what is your take on switching from cabinet/cupboard to grow tent? Anyone that has made the switch? Keen to get some alternative views on this. As I see the cabinet and cupboard section is a bit dated on the forum (unless taking a toke earlier has obscured my reality a bit) ... perhaps I am one of few left that lives by the cabinet.. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  25. Hi everyone, Being a stealth grower has mainly kept me to using everything but a grow tent to grow some meds. I have gone through a few different setups in the last 2 years, ranging from a desktop pc, to a small wooden cabinet and a steel cabinet amongts others. There is one problem I seem to struggle with the most -depending on the time of year - is temperature regulation. The lack of funding to buy technological advancements of the modern day - like an air conditioner or cooling unit, leaves me open to a fair amount of risk on those days when the weather pushes the extremes. I am looking for a easy way and cost effective way to help bring down the temps on those days when the it hit around 28 C and up. My setup is in a garage that has a sheet metal roof (not the best for insulation) which seems to intensive the problem. Some Grow-(in)fo: -600w air cooled hood with 6 inch fan, currently extracting and circulating in the same room (not possible to exhaust out or pull air in) -100x100x180 grow space -grow area mimics outside temperature when hot (the cold isnt a problem -yet) Let me know your thoughts and ideas! Loosing sleep over this one! Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
