    Hermies

a topic near to my heart, have some amazing genetics locked up inside beans made by a fem plant sprouting more nuts than a thai brothel. they behave well(really well) until about week 10, by week 11 its a sausage fest. also worth mentioning, the above scenario is almost guaranteed to result in hermies due to the fem seed production process using stress to induce male parts with female chromosomes ,cuts breeding potential down substantially and introduces a dominant stress response "trait" or as totemic put it somewhat better, genetic hardwiring .

    Lights from Amazon

i ordered one of those from wish a while back, not bad actually, mounted in a spotlight housing for testing, should actually stick it in a micro cab and see what it does ran pretty hot to be honest(on a sync, no fan)
  3. recently was directed there, was told they are reliable, have seen a lot of ethos popping up on local ig so i would say yes, legit. and honestly, as scary as the price tag is, considering seed pack size and 2 freebies, you are looking at about 190 a seed pre shipping
  4. ah, hence the massive discounts, thought it may be too good to be true
  5. my own fault, badly stored, lessons learnt. grow isnt doing too badly, topping starting to shoot up new points now. Still plagued by calmag issues slwoing me down, ladies will probably get an epsom foliar tonight. time is short, flower approaches
  6. quick update, seedlings are a no show, that makes it a full failure on all old beans tried. out they go, no use hoarding dead seeds. kills me as its lost breeding projects that are dead in the water now.
  7. i fear we may be hijacking the OP's post, but will say this, and this is not directed at anyone, private or seedbank. i played with basic breeding a few years back, ran aground when my outdoor F2 selection plots were decimated by birds and other furry woodland mofo's . its not difficult to make a seed, and it is quite possible to pass F1 crosses off as the real deal to the general unknowing public due to f1's inherent vigour and stability. if you think about it F1's are good for business, they sprout if looked at twice and genetically should be a stable version of each parent, with any diversity being covered in a "phenotype variation". the real skill and work comes in from F2 when all manner of recessive traits show themselves and suddenly grand gradad's red hair everyone forgot about is back. large scale selection is hard work, and nailing down the traits you want is nothing short of a passion. however i notice the trend internationally is moving away from the dutch model of back crossing and feminization for "stable" seed, with commercial guys working on clone only, selecting the winner pheno and running mom clone scenarios indefinitely, spreading by clone or cell cloning. pushing closer to the limited run small batch craft cannabis scene over the massive international seedbank mentality
  8. Lol, thats my current clone setup, was at plastic warehouse but only found catering trays that were too big, so still on the hunt. I see no mention of bubble cloners, seems to be my best results to date to be honest, but i may be a tad outdated
  9. seconded, stuffed around with all manner of puny fans, i added a 6" extractor on a filter and all my temp issues went away
  10. lol, need to clean my glasses, i didnt even notice those were fan leaves not that my cloning success rate is all that great, i think i need some cake in my life
  11. great to see actual breeding, not just "locally stabilised dutch genetics" meaning pollen chuck and crap shoot
  12. looking good bud, nice write up, will be following along. those secret jardins really do look like s step up from your run of the mill tent
  13. crikey, those clones look like they were a snail buffet. how many hours of direct light is she getting. where are they growing, need to do pest control . seedlings stretched like that is light , a windowsill would suffice if chosen correctly
  14. as far as i know they are in progress of registering them for sale in SA, full range excluding the kelp product
  15. lol, i feel your pain, cleaned out the garage,it was like a nute graveyard, general hydro, nutriplex, sooo much nutriplex, ph up and down, calibration fluids etc
  16. no doubt, cant wait to get my hands on topmax ,root juice and bio heaven
  17. Monday update. Plants looking happy. Fresh buckets of water bubbling away for upcoming feed.
  18. has been fluctuating to be fair, average is about 25. bare in mind lights are off between 11am - 5pm tried a smaller extractor with led panel and that pushed it up to 29/30 but with the hps and 6" i dont worry too mch about temps
  19. Greetings 420sa Long time lurker , thought i would post my latest grow. 4 plant perpetual Environment: 80x60cm micro cabs x 2 - Early veg\Clone 1x1m Tent - Veg 2x1m Cab - Flower Genetics: 3x Dutchpassion Jorges Diamonds no1 1X Dinafem Remo Chemo Medium Organic soil, own mix based on rev 2.0 base mix Coco coir Perlite Worm castings Compost Potting soil dolomite lime Bone Meal mycoroot This was mixed let sit, then watered with a compost tea and let sit for another month or so, not pushing for full nute free grow, rather a slightly fortified light soil. Nutes: Biobizz fishmix in veg, grow bloom for flower Kelpak foliar Epsom foliar Compost teas, humic fulvic amino etc Lighting: 5x20w cool white cfl - seedling\early veg Micro 3x20w mixed - Clone Micro '360w' apollo 8 spot led - veg(currently in for repairs on my desk hence hps) 2x 400w HPS - flower Ventilation: Micros, 12v pc fans various Veg ,6" extractor, no filter - to move to flower once flower cab is completed flower, 6" extractor with 150mm-500mm carbon filter The Jorges came to me from another grower in rockwool prisons, i nervously hacked them free and transplanted to soil at i would guess 3 weeks from seed judging by nodes and development. they battled initially with transplant shock and root damage causing some cal/mag issues early on, once transplanted to 10l bags the offset of soil to rockwool seems to have balanced ph better and are now starting to take off nicely. Transplanted to 10l Moved to veg tent Still looked quite pissed off with me at this point and where we stand today Remo was a clone gifted to me, sadly came with signs of mites so she went into quarantine and pyrol torture for a week or two. she has recovered nicely and is starting to show some good growth. Below pic on arrival after first pyrol treatment Remo a substantially happier plant
  20. agreed, fishmix for veg, i flip over to grow bloom for flower
  21. i actually experienced exactly these symptoms after a rather rough and traumatic series of transplants between rockwool blocks and organic soil, once the roots settled and pH stabilised it seems to have come right, will still add some epsom to the next feed just to bump up mg and hence help ca uptake
  22. What are your cab Temps and how far is your light from your canopy. Looks like light burn to me. Alternatively I have seen root damage cause sporadic damage like that.
