  1. Joe, I'm no expert (far from it) but just do your research before spraying neem oil on your flowering plant as I have read there can be 'side effects'... but yeah, no way of knowing until you try it yourself I suppose
  2. I have stashed the Jack Herer in the outside bathroom, will let her out tomorrow morning, I boarded up the windows so its pitch black, hope she will go into flower, will monitor...
  3. Good to know, looking forward to test them all!
  4. Hey guys, 3 weeks since my last update, quite allot has happened. Let's start from the top, spoiler I have a new addition to the family Jack Herer, sitting with a little problem here as she is getting fantastically big and bushy and feel like I should trigger her to flower, but I have to many others still in veg, so I was thinking of taking her out of my grow room every evening at 8PM and stash her in the outside bathroom until the next morning at 8AM just before I go to work, will be a bit of work but could work, right? A few pictures, keeping in mind I trimmed her a few days ago to get rid of some of the bigger fan leaves. View from the bottom, low stress training worked a charm. Next the Northern Lights Auto, its mid flower and looking okay, buds can plump up a bit more but looking okay considering she was outside in bad potting soil for most of her vegging stage. Would say she has a few weeks left still, what do you guys think, 3 to 4 weeks? Close up, say cheese... Glueberry is next, they are 5 weeks into my first attempt at mainlining. I must say it's quite a nerve racking ordeal as every time the plant seems to start taking off you trim quite hard. The lady I started creating the mainline base early (2 week) is doing very well, the other one I gave a bit more veg time and only started at week 3 but due to the big amount of plant material I had to remove she went into stress, she going okay but the other one is doing well. Before the last stage of forming the mainline base: After forming the last stage of the mainline base, from here I will leave her alone and let the 8 colas that was created grow. And lastly, the new addition to the family, a Blue Cheese Auto, she is only 10 days old now:
  5. I'm not fully convinced that different strains have different highs, a topic that comes up regularly when my wife and I chill out for a bit, I'm of the opinion that different strains are like wines from different cultivars, tasting the banana and spice or chocolate is all a matter of personal opinion, struggling to describe it but you get my idea... Not just the taste but also the high, I mean THC is THC right? In my mission to prove myself wrong I have a few strains going (Jack Herer, Northern Lights, Blue Cheese and Glueberry). Anyway, not the point... I like to roll a joint, bongs feel to harsh and vaporizing I'm not to sure of, have a Vapir NO2 that I used a few times... That is good to know, I'm looking forward to compare.

    Hi

Hey guy, lekker community this with competitions you can actually win, happy growing and hoping to see some pictures!
  8. Hey man. I have used the below organic pesticide when my one auto had some red spider mites and worked wonders. Not so sure about when in flowering as I see it contains canola oil, also I presume it's much the same as the Ludwig's pesticide you mentioned, but worth a try maybe... https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/margaret-roberts-organic-insecticide/?attribute_pa_size=500ml&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4fHkBRDcARIsACV58_GF_OL149SezUe595LgZ3Ch4u2USozFuN4OGZjTCn0bfsGaTNMcX2MaAmL2EALw_wcB
  9. Good day admin, getting thus error when trying to reply to my own thread, tried to log and an in but same error:
  10. Hey guys. Update time. Jack Herer doing very well, I modified the Future Farm Freedom pot a bit by adding eyelids to the rim of the material pot and tying down the branches with wire and hooks, I call it the Titan Tying Technique (T.T.T), inspired by Attack on Titan Glueberry now on week two, also looking good (left hand side, right is Jack Herer from top): Also decided on putting the pots on plastic crates, holes in the bottom mean air get to the bottom of the material pots also. Not sure if it is allowed to post a link but 'The proper way to water a potted plant' thread on 420 Magazine was really a eye opener, I watered basically every second evening but now wait until the pots are basically feather light, feels wrong but as the thread states building a root ball is important in veg phase... wait rather just read it yourself, its brilliant: https://www.420magazine.com/community/threads/the-proper-way-to-water-a-potted-plant.266274/
  11. Have a few beans that I bought from Seedsman.com, currently growing the Jack Herer and Vision NL Auto. I stuffed up the Diesel Auto (did not germinate)... Got two Glueberry beans from a friend that is a week into the grow. List:
  12. Hey guys, Almost two weeks since my last post. Things are going quite good, the family has grown, I germinated two Glueberry seeds the other day. Jack Herer the trainee is doing okay, grown quite allot, but some leaves are starting to curl on the sides, see picture. I subsequently moved the light a bit higher, but read it could also be temperature and humidity, the last couple of days was brutal and the little zink room was on 40 degrees with 20% humidity at one point, this morning it was on 21 degrees with 85% humidity. As you can see it fluctuates tremendously. Days are getting colder so hoping my temp issue will go away. Little Vision Auto also grown allot, decided to not bother her to much so only stretched her arms a bit so the side colas get a little more light. I see there is a bit of nute burn on the tips... oops... Right pictures: Jack Herer with curling leaves, training method is a bad example of manifolding, basically just keeping her horizontal: New additions, Glueberry: Vision Auto, going strong, bit of nute burn on tips.
  13. Today is a nightmare, hottest it's been in a while. I like the idea of wetting the floor, will give that a go, for humidity surface area not the amount of water is key, we see that in small scale in the egg incubator also. Thanx for the replies guys, appreciate.
  14. Right, up the humidity, will add some water in a bucket next to the plants, should do the job.
  15. Keeping in mind it was quite hot today and the room has no ceiling and a zink roof the readings are as follows, this is with light on: In other words 30 degrees and 42% humidity. Not sure if it's good, bad or okay...?
  16. Right so I did a bit more reading and went with the following training technique (followed the diagram posted in previous thread): Side: Above: Probably not perfect but bent the main stem horizontal and tried to tie the side branches out from under the main stem to the side and back exposing the branches to light from above. Let's see what she does when the lights go on again, load shedding from 12:00 to 14:30 today
  17. Not sure... have a temp meter lying around here that the wife uses for egg incubation, will check...
  18. Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. The light bracket is currently attached via ratchets: Was just easier to put a crate under the tray to lift the ladies, but obviously using the ratchets for what they are meant for is also a good idea Yeah okay so I stuffed up the training part a bit... was going for something like this (see pic below) but sort of did it half way... and wrong... (Not my diagrams / pictures so not taking any credit for it) Did a bit of Googling and found cool ideas of making a standing Scrog net with PVC piping, will try that next time, this grow I will just try keeping them ladies alive... with a little training... Schedule now on 18/6, light off from 12 to 6 in the morning meaning 6 hours of complete darkness.
  19. Light is currently on ratchets, crate was just the easiest at the moment... Odd... right... let me Google Low Stress Training again
  20. Wow okay, that is quite expensive... less expensive making friends and borrowing a sensor
  21. Thanx man, yeah I know, I like to fiddle... to much... I'm with you on the ph meter, will rather get one of those. Maybe if I get to know a few people here I can borrow one for a day or two as the PAR meter would really just be a once off...
  22. Okay, so where do one get a PAR meter, they seem to be quite difficult to find...?
  23. Right, so raised the ladies a bit closer to the light by resting the drip tray on a crate, worked very well. I also started with some basic Low Stress Training by bending the lowest branches with some U shape wire (see pic), wanted to attempt Scrog but not quite sure how I will fasten the netting above the ladies, so went with what I thought would work okay'ish.... Will check efficiency of the lights by running them 100% for few days then lowering to about 80%... Do not know what to expect as I never used indoor lights, so bit of experimentation needed... Might even invest in a PAR meter, but those light meters are quite expensive so it's on the wishlist. Low Stress Training attempt:
  24. No no please continue the chat, some valuable information that might seem obvious that I have picked up. So I will raise the ladies a bit closer to the lights tonight, check. Will change my light schedule to 18/6 and see how it goes, check... Now you guys mention not running your lights at 100%?? Last night I started out at minimal light but before I left the room I cranked it to 100% and stumbled in the dark to the house, those lights are tough on the eyes... why not 100%, has it something to do with the electricity vs effectiveness of the lights at 80% or does the ladies enjoy the 80% more than full power?
  25. Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. @CG420za, not sure, read somewhere it is the way to go, more light means more growth... yes? Why would one go 18/6 instead of 20/4? I set my timer to switch of between 1 and 4 giving the plants total darkness over that 4hour period.
