  1. Isolating a strain from what's effectively ''bagseed'' is a long term story with no guarantee of success. If the strain has been interbred with itself over a period of time your chances may improve. You will need space and time and lots of patience. Planting as many beans as you can manage properly, isolating good females and males depending on what your criteria is for the strain. Interbreeding them, then planting the resulting f1 beans and sifting through the offspring looking for keepers. It can take years on a small scale level to stabilize a strain.
  2. I've run into a couple of duds - multiple plants, same strain, same breeder - all different in growth and terpene profiles - one hermied in flower for no reason. Will never buy from them again. Schoolfees. If the genetics are weak or the breeder messed up somewhere, the grower can try his best and still end up with shite. But I must also add, some growers have greener fingers than others....and some should rather stay away from plants.

    2nd run

Thanks Google ''scale insects''. Suspect they are the ''armoured scale'' variety. Can be tough buggers to get rid of.
  4. Good stuff, it looks lekker. AACT has many beneficial uses for your plants. Just use your nose.... if it smells fresh ,musty, mushroomy or earthy you're good. Any off, sour, rotten, putrid smells proceed with caution or dump it to be safe.
  5. One of the ladies in my stable. Beans were gifted by a local indoor grower. Pineapple Express pollinated by a Purple Haze male. Pheno hunted a bit through the selection and this lady and her fruity boyfriend caught the eye. Smoke report is good-(my new favorite). Very smooth and tasty smoke with a funky 'chemberry' tang. Clear, strong and energetic with typical sativa cerebral effect.
  6. She looks gooood!!! @Dank Proverbial Kid in a candy store....
  7. Don't mind putting in the effort and time to find a nice DP strain. Enjoy hunting good stuff.
  8. Aweh @TheUltimateNoob Would be interested in that. A bit more background would be nice and any pics if possible of the female and the male that did the pollination.
  9. Awesome level of stealth. Congrats on finishing as well, must have been tough.
  10. Good on you for cathing them early, makes a huge difference. Margaret Roberts also does a good organic spray- it's a bacterial innoculant that disrupts the worms digestive system.
  11. I dont think soil as the ''easiest'' medium by a long shot, but you have to learn and get to know your medium- whichever one you choose, its part of the learning curve. Some growers struggle with soil, if you dont respect the parameters of your medium you can get it wrong quite easily. To make a good soil is quite a process and a number of ''retailers'' offer some good options for ''buy in bag'' which is a easy starting point for new growers. I like to know what I'm working with and I enjoy mixing my own soil. On the surface it may look straightforward, but the rabbit hole goes much deeper than you think.
  12. Aweh gromies, Decided to do some ''up potting'' today. 1-2. The Purple Stilton and Lemoncello Haze ladies got new 75lt homes with some fresh soil. (1st of the summer prep with added aged/composted manure and EWC) They allready pushing pomoms so did a real carefull transplant with the least amount of root disturbance. 3-5. Chocolate Gorilla girl is pushing hard, hope she builds some monster colas. Only did a single ''mains'' topping, so she's got 6 main colas. (cloned the top and shared with another local indoor grower- she vegging well) 6-8. This Swazi lady is looking better by the day. Very thirsty/hungry girl as well, first one to show dehydration. Maybe she could do with a new home too. 9. Smoke report on the Purple Pineapple is very good, even with only 2 weeks curing she is smooth as silk, some very funky berry flavours, but beware....she kicks in very fast. Suspect that the lack of green chlorophil may be assisting the curing process. Can't wait for the 4 week tester.
  13. FF has its amendments, should provide enough nourishment with a weak seagrow solution. They look pretty hapy and healthy. Lekker.
  14. Contradicting opinions coming trough on this subject hahaha. In the end it's all up to the (New) grower, but they have to do some research (and there is a lot you can read up on the subject) about the different nutes, mediums and equipment required and obviously what the budget allows. Then decide which way they want to go.
  15. Hey bro- Pics or it didn't happen. Hahaha. I only feed from week 3 onwards, what medium you using? At 1 week they still very small.
  16. Still a lot of clear trichs and some cloudy, a few ambers dotted around. Depending on the effect you require. Too many clear trichomes will induce a energetic rushy high with a dash of paranoia. Personally I'd give her another week (for more cloudy trichs) and check again. It's all up to what the grower wants from his bud.
  17. Looks like a hot soil issue. If you mix a bunch of stuff together like that it should ''cook'' for 2 to 3 months before you plant in it. It's a clever idea marketing wise etc...they just forgot/ or didnt know to tell their clients about how long it takes to prep the soil.
  18. @SkunkPharmThink its a good idea, believe many new growers would benefit from such a thread. Easy and manageble way to start your journey down the cannabis growing rabbit hole. An inexpensive way to get their toes wet, without the complexities and technical equipment of dwc and coco. They can grow their first plants and there after decide where they want to take it- soil, dwc or coco.
  19. Used to use ''orange'' fruit net bags, stockings also worked well. Moved away from the ''teabag'' method now. I add the ''teabag'' ingredients to a bucket add water and mix/steep and then strain. Then add the strained ''tea'' water to my brewer, but thats only because I prefer to use an aquarium water pump for agitation. Don't want any solids/pieces in my mix. Principals are the same with different method.
  20. They are quite striking hey. Have a few buds curing quitely....but believe curiosity may warrant an early taste test...hahaha.
  21. Will grow a selection of the F1 gen of the Purple Pines to check germing rates and vigour. The first beans germed on the plant due to wet rainy weather. They still very fresh - will dry/cure the beans for a 2/3 weeks to negate the effect of the blocking enzymes. Don't mind sharing a selected amount of beans to interested forum members. The name was just too long..... the shorter version has a nice ring to it.
  22. Aweh fellow Greenfingers. Our winter outdoor grow is going well, ladies are short but the terpenes are sweet. 1-3. ''Chololate Gorilla'' lady doing her thing. 5. Swazi gold bagseed starting to fill out nicely. 6. Purple Stilton showing some pom poms. 7. Lemonchello also starting with flower. 8-9. Pregnant Purple haze x Pineapple express dubbed ''Purple pineapple'' lady. Her awesome colours inspired some pollination. Harvested about a 100 beans so far and probably 100 more to go. 10. 1st of the Purple Pineapple progeny. 11. Got gifted a bag of beautifull EWC from @420sake and his missus on our recent visit. Putting it to good use. Got some Yellow maize germing on my media player for SST for the flowering girls. Acquired a drum of molasses from the farmers co-op, R120/25kg(not paying 40 bucks for 500ml anymore.) Soil is cooking in the corner for the summer grow. Cheers.
  23. Looks very similar to wind damage. That indoor plant spent any time outside perhaps?
  24. Beautifull. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  25. Seedsman Purple Bud. Backpain is gone and we have no insomniacs in the house anymore. Hahaha.[emoji3] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
