for my general outdoor plants and shrubs on my balcony, i do like Seagro! the plants love it as well... and i also have some Biobizz grow that i alternate with for my plants in a soil medium. and then spot fixes with half strength salts if i see anything unhappy. my dad has a nice compost heap that i have been chucking some used coco into to try make the compost a bit lighter - i hadnt really thought about the salts in the coco as that coco i dont wash. although the coco amounts for like 1% of the heap, i dont fear im in trouble... but when i can afford coco in a bad already buffered... then the compost heap will be getting loads more coco rapidly and then i may sit with some shit thanks man and thanks @Marzcanna for a sweet debate - shot man, i like when emotions get involved and you see everyones passion shine through.

i must note that i do battle with the reused coco for a week or 2 before its 100% sharp again because of the cation sites in coco... getting the Ca and Mg ratio correct and actually buffering the meduim can be tricky... under buffering or over buffering is a mess. last buffer was only calcuim and no mg and so far so good Only do this if you really cant afford new coco... i just dump used soil back into the compost and so begins the process again this recent wash i did seems the best so far... happy plants straight from day 1

so what about the not so noob growers? i can sorta see your angle and where you are coming from. But at my company we have a motto "First time right" , so while i agree with you it may be benificial for noobs, it would be better if these peeps researched a bit more on all kinds of grow techniques, and the importance of not over feeding, rather than flushing. another note, if flushing is to remove excess nutes in the meduim, then there is zero saving in a flush as you are washing unused nutes down the drain... as opposed to just leaving them there. another thing is outdoor plants... i have grown the most beautiful weed, with the most delightful terps and aromas ...and obviously didnt flush because they were in the ground. so maybe a point to the amazing terp profile from the organic outdoor - but a big question remains, is flushing nesseccary if you dont need to flush outdoor plants

alright - a much more elaborate explanation - which i agree with... i was more trying to get at the point that once organic material is broken down and is now available for the plant to uptake... it doesnt make the elements that the plant uses any different to the synthetic nutes. weather they are absorbed like you said, or via the backstage, its still the same element that has been absorbed. plant health is an important factor...if you are feeding your plant correctly, you will not have a huge build up of salts in your meduim, but if you are feeding wrong, you get your toxicities.... and regardless weather its organic or synthetic...if you are burning your plants, they gonna taste like shit, but if you have healthy happy plants, you are unlikely to have a build up of synthetic nutes in the buds
-
And yes, you can Chelate nutrients to be more available to the plants root zone, but the plant can still only take up elements and not compounds
-
i dono man... the plants uptake synthetic nutes in the exact same way organic nutes are taken up... the plant doesnt see organic nutes and be all like ...mmmm theres mollases in this, or mmmm great banana peel!! the plant can ONLY absorb elements in their base form... synthetic potassium, or organic potassium is identical... so no... we are not smoking the salts... because thats just not how a plant absorbs nutes from its meduim....

i use my large totes for the rinse, these totes have holes drilled into the bottom for drainage. now, with the coco, if i add water slowly, it runns out the holes, but if i fill up a 20l bucket and dump it on the coco fairly fast, i have then noticed that the bulk of the coco floats, and the small fine bits sink to the bottom and like... plug the holes so that no runoff comes out... i then churn the coco a fuck load and manage to get more roots out, and makes it light and fluffy again. then i pick one side of the tote up and all the fine silt runs out and tghen all the water comes out in one fast flow...the amount of times iv nearly flooded my place like this hahahaha. so i basically end up with a less dense coco after my wash as none of the finer particles remain.

it is actually a pain in the ass...and i am only doing it currently because i am broke ass and laying down 200l+ per run is not on my budget lol first i break up the dry coco and roots and pick out only the largest clumps of roots - then i put it in my shower and run water through it till the runoff ec is 0.1, then i fill up a bucket with 10% nute mix and run that through the coco. oh! also noting the ph runoff so i can adjust the ph before adding the below. after that i add a few amendments, Calcium, humates, mycos, rock dust, and mix it in all by hand - let the coco sit for a while or use it right away, both seem fine
-
i used to flush... but then i stopped because it honestly never made a difference to me or the buds. i have been reusing my coco for very long. sure you dont want to be a chop and harvest and then put new plants in the unwashed coco - you would destroy everything like that. rinse the coco from what ever EC it is at harvest and rinse the coco down to 0.1 EC and add calcuim and a 10% nute mix boom, presto! i have fresh coco again... takes a bit of practice, but it can be done without failure or detriment to your future crops

feel that there is too much pressure on having to choose one or the other as best... i have grown organically - but have never had an organic run where i didnt add salt nutes to fix a deficiency, and in the same breath, i have never run a synthetic grow, without adding some sort of organic additive. where most soils fail is the fact that they are not loose enough for the accelerated growth of weed... sure they may have all the nutes and amendments, but lacks oxygen. i really feel the reason the premuim soils are so much better than common soils, is the amount of coco and or perlite added to loosen up the meduim and allow more oxygen to the root zone. for a comprehensive test, one would need to be able to produce excellent harvests with both coco and soil and hydro actually... and have a stable environment year round - and then give it horns as to which is the best. i feel a synergy between synthetic and organic nutes should be involved to produce the best of the best

Ash and coal in the mountain area (Cape Town)
CreX replied to Stefan's topic in Organic Growing - Growing in soil
yea i wanted to say just that as well... so laying a bed of ash isnt the best way either, definitely mix it into the soil you wanna use -
is this that plant that didnt make pistols? looks really interesting hahaha. best would be a loupe or something like the boys said... gotta get all the grow tools eventually! so why not start with odds and ends for your grow? starting with a loupe hahaha

ooooo makes me eager for my OG Kush to finish up flowering!! that dark lady looks superb!

@Dookie69, if you can dim your mars lights down a bit you will likely also reach a 10 degree lower temp. straight up, the mars lights are outshining the comet by a decent amount... the comet looks a bit dim in comparison.

it was actually a decent interview and factory walk through, so thanks for that. even after all of that, i am still not convinced i should be spending the amount they ask for for a fitting. other than the price tag, it looks like a decent setup. another thing i noted is that they are not using meanwell drivers @Dookie69, at least not in the light fittings they showcased ,the drivers used might be made locally as well.

very nice man! beautiful flowers!

heeeeeey!! this looks like my grow style!! large totes with multiple plants, and a hand made scrog net!! lol for a second i thought this was my grow hahaha
