i agree with the boys here, UV for PM sanitation is probably the least effective method to combat PM. Like @PsyCLown mentioned, you have to get pretty close and keep the light there for an extended period of time... you couldn't use it like a wand and wave it over your plants, it would not be efficient. and if you had more than one plant, it would take a really long time...and you would likely fry your plant, because UVC is dangerous to literally anything organic... so this would be the equivalent of using a flamethrower on a spidermite (singular)... the spider mite and the plant will suffer extreme damage. rather just buy a plethera of PM treatments with the cash you have to buy that thing. copper soap sulphur burner biosulphor milk/water mix AQSF and many many more

Unfortunately, science says that LEDs do not emit UV-B radiation which is beneficial to plants and most living things in moderation, and only output moderate UV-A light which isnt as useful to plants, and absolutely zero UV-C which is the dangerous UV spectrum. UV is best supplied using additional supplemental flourecent tubes designed to output UV-B. so the UV diodes are a small waste as technology isnt there yet. and the IR is useful for flowering plants who use large amounts of red light to grow... the red also increases vertical growth which can be good or it can be bad if you arent aware of this fact. all in all, its better to have them than not have them - but you dont neeeeeed them

perhaps for an experienced grower who doesnt need to worry about his plants so much, then fancy upgrades like wifi switching are on the table but for a new grower, worrying about if your lights are on or off when they are supposed to be on or off shouldnt be on the forfront of your problem list. also, even if the power comes back on and the switch goes into its last state or an on state, while its supposed to be lights off, the plants will have the lights on for a good few seconds, depending on your router it could be a few more seconds. the one thing i learned very early on is the light cycle should never be disturbed at all costs - and to me, those few seconds of potential overlap is more than enough for me to stay away from wifi switching for my core program and stick to a mechanical digital timer with built in battery backup

yo @Pants nice work on the ducting!! i must try encourage you to make it a bit more freeflow. those holes likely block more than 90% of the ventilation

fresh aggressive growth on weed most often has hollow stems, which become filled and hard over time as the plants grow. slow growth normally skips the hollow stem stage and grows solid from the get go... you want to aim for the first example
-
Thanks man, i generally do exactly that, down to sitting in water and using 6 year old dynaroot LOL, i find the hollow stems of the tops often lead to the stem going soggy from some bacterial infection or something, so i add a few drops of h2o2 to my cup of water that they sit in for a few min... that seems to make a good difference, but its not fool proof.

Me too friend - its one of those plants that will forever live in my memory

the very first plant i grew, complete bag seed... but it would have changed the world if i took cuttings i enjoy weed to take the edge of traffic and stupid people in cars... and 99% of all the weed i have smoked chills me out and i can relax and not get pissed off with the 77th taxi cutting in the traffic. anyways, this first plant i grew, was next level Sativa, it was so intense it did the opposite to my road chills... it made me wanna drive fast, made me wanna get home and do all my chores, finish them, look for more work, not find any, then go visit your neighbor to help them with their chores LOL it gave me energy like 10 redbulls. to date, i have never smoked anything like it, and never felt those intense creative and energetic feels again from any weed. so i definitely believe that there are strains out there that could be considered illicit substances LOL, but also believe strains react differently to each smoker and effects may vary a lot.

what tips do you have for cloning the freshest growth? i would like to call myself adept at cloning... but i still battle endlessly with turning tops into cuttings
