Everyone has a different way of doing their defol, I literally strip my plants bare before I flip. Remove anything from node 3 and below and put them straight into flower. Then around week 2 or 3 into flower, after a lot of the stretch has happened they're bushes again and another defol is required to open the canopy and allow the light to penetrate and shine on the buds. Doing this helps prevent fluff and skits, if you want the fluff and skits then keep a few more nodes when doing the defol.

Synthetics - Mycorrhizae Killer
PsyCLown replied to Marzcanna's topic in Organic Growing - Growing in soil
Trichoderma is a very fast colonizing and aggressive fungus, however it can often be purhcased as a wettable powder which also contains mycorrhizal fungi. Biocult make this particular product: There are multiple trichoderma strains, not sure how much they vary and if all are as aggressive etc. Perhaps some can be used in harmony? -
Hmm, rather curious to try it myself but not sure my freeze is frost-free and taking it out each day for an hour is serious missions and not something I can commit to.

Synthetics - Mycorrhizae Killer
PsyCLown replied to Marzcanna's topic in Organic Growing - Growing in soil
@Marzcanna Great info, do you have a link to the source perhaps? However there will still be those who read this and believe synthetic nutes are the devil. Each to their own though As long as we're all growing good cannabis, who cares? No reason one cannot do a mix as well, does not need to be an organic grow in order to make use of fungi, microbes, bacteria etc. I personally use a mix of stuff with my grow, along with my GHE nutes and plants respond exceptionally well to it. -
@The_StonedTrooper Christaan Loffler is awesome! Up there with Stimming IMO. One of the newer sessions Stimming has on YouTube. I recall watching this and thinking it was pretty cool and interesting. The way he puts it all together and what he uses for sounds etc. is what stood out for me. Then Stephan Bodzin also has some amazing stuff, loved his "Power of Ten" album.

@Autoflow3r I think you need to find a way to differentiate what you are offering from what is already available. Every grow is different, some have aircon some do not. Some have dehumidifiers, others do not. Aircons and dehumidifiers, you set to a specific temp or RH and it will run until it reaches that temp or RH and then try and maintain that. No automation required there really. To get something to integrate into these "dumb" devices may be a challenge as there are soo many different makes and models of aircons and dehumidifiers. If you are talking about extraction fans, well, AC Infinity have fans with nice controllers which will adjust the fan speed according to the temp or RH and can even give alarms. I know they have one controller with more functionality, not sure if this controller allows one to do so remotely though. Lots of home automation devices out there, like the Sonoff devices and others which can monitor the temp and RH and allow you to view it world wide and add triggers to turn items on / off if a certain situation is met. ie. If temperature is over 28C, then turn on Fan #1. Majority of these home automation devices will keep logs for you as well, I think on average upto 3 months and most tie into other systems and devices and one can even take it a step further and add cameras with facial recognition and door and window triggers and all sorts of other cool stuff. If you are driving your car, when you get to the garage it must open the garage door. If the wife is driving your car, it must not open the garage door - but this is going deep into home automation now and a little off topic. So, there are already products out there which do this, however there can still be a bit of separation at times. AC Infinity fan does not speak to the sonoff temp & RH device for example - but does it need to? A simpler fan might make more sense, allow it to be turned on / off based on temperatures however most have their extraction running 24/7 anyways. The other issue is cost, how much is it going to cost and how much benefit will growers get from it? Why should they use what you are offering over other products? Perhaps why use it at all? What would be cool is when we start talking full on automation, having a system which will mix nutes for you (you can tell it which chart to base it on) and PH accordingly, adjust height of lights as required as well as the dimming of them... But then there are certain requirements which would need to be in place first, such as water intake for the res to be filled automatically. I believe there are systems out there which can do this, but the price is the issue and the average home grower can generally manage by doing it themselves. I think such a system becomes more of a want or need when you are talking big grow, like commercial scale to help run the facility with fewer staff. Not trying to be negative, just giving some info to think about and maybe take a look into. I am one of the more fortunate growers, I have an AC and a dehumidifier so climate is pretty spot on consistently. My AC Infinity fan, I do not even use the feature to adjust the fan speed based on temp and RH, however I do like the fact that there are 10 speed settings and I use those to help balance intake and exhaust air flow rates but I set it manually. I plan on adding a sonoff type of device to the room so I can remotely monitor the RH and temperatures, although it is more just because I can and the devices are cheap. I am moving over to sonoff POW R2 switches to replace my digital timers as they are around the same price but allow me to turn the lights on / off remotely and view the power usage and do so over a period of a few days / weeks / months and easily adjust the light cycle remotely and not have to mission to get a ladder to get to the timer on top of my tent (where I keep mine and my power supplies). I have an automatic watering system which uses a water pump and airpump which run 24/7, so if I need to go away I just top up the res and that will last a few days without me needing to do anything and I can remotely ensure my lights are on via the POW R2. I think for most watering on time would be the issue, but is easily achieved with an automatic watering system. In a situation like mine, I am not seeing much appeal for a product which you are describing. Even thinking about some of my friends who do not have an AC or dehumidifier, very similar situation and they'd likely go for an automatic watering system before monitoring the temps. Changing temps without a heater or aircon isn't always achievable. You can move as much air as you like, if the air you are bringing is in 26C, you won't get the temps below 26C, same for RH. Welcome to the forum though and please stick around!

You can reach out to the guys that sell Quantum Boards, not sure whether any of them would be willing to sell you loose QB's though. Otherwise you can import from China, but can take a bit of time and there is customs and other things to consider as well. I am not aware of anyone selling loose QB288's locally, unless they're used. I have been toying with the idea of selling some of my QB288's to try get uniform lights in my tent (not all are the same Kelvin or have additional diodes etc.). I think the above options are your best bet though.

Quite exciting indeed, we continue to wait for now.

@Twix Aphen I stumbled upon the same info when doing my research, there is the umbrella effect when watering and with the root ball etc. They can often hide underneath the root ball where the pesticide may not get to them, hence I think multiple continuous application may be required to ensure they are all completely gone. Alternatively, at least try keep them at bay and away from the veg area and dispose of the medium after flower and try ensure the veg area is clean and root aphid free. I really do not want to cull my plants, however I am really not keen on using neonicotinoid's like imidacloprid or organophosphate like Acephate / Orthene. The most common pesticide for aphids seems to be imidacloprid though - perfectly fine for ornamental plants in and around the house, however for crops which one consumes I feel it may be best to avoid using. However so far so good it seems, not seeing them crawling around and the cuttings seem to be doing well and did not see any live ones remaining on the cuttings. Will do another application of Bio-Insek & Bio-Neem this week. I think I must do the same and only use a smaller amount of liquid as a "soil drench" with the pesticides to help reduce costs and to be able to continue to do it on a regular basis. Perhaps 1L per 20L pot.

So general consensus is that there are certainly some worthy of keeping but not all are hits - which is understandable. Everyone is looking for different things in a strain, nobody wants the same as it gets boring. There is the risk that someone has sprayed / fed the cuttings some serious systemic pesticides to help keep them pest and pathogen free. Then there is the other side, someone has spent time and money breeding a specific strain to be able to sell those seeds and make money from those seeds. These guys selling clones, they're the ones making money off of it and are in essence potentially taking money away from the breeders. However it is very convenient for us growers, as we can spend a fraction of the price (average In House Genetics strain is around high R3k / low R4k for a pack of seeds) and then one still needs to do a bit of pheno hunting. Some other breeders like Ethos you generally need a few packs, so while their seed packs are cheaper you typically need to go through more seeds to find a keeper pheno. When buying cuttings, they are sold at a fraction of the price of a pack of seeds and the pheno hunting has apparently been done already. Value for money, it is extremely appealing. Instead of dropping R4k to get a single strain, one can spend a lot less or get a looot more for your R4k. Makes certain strains and cuts accessible to some growers who would otherwise never be able to grow out some of these strains. It is sort of like piracy, but for strains. This does however make certain strains a lot more common and takes away from them and good phenos being "special". If everyone gets given a Lambo when they turn 18, it is no longer special and doesn't have the same allure. @Totemic You being a breeder yourself, how do you feel about this?

Silica / Organic / Synthetic (Discussion)
PsyCLown replied to The_StonedTrooper's question in General Questions & Answers
So what type of Silica is everyone using? Potassium Silicate (K2SiO3) seems to be the most common, I suspect due to pricing. However I believe Silicic acid / Orthosilicic acid ( Si(OH)4 ) is perhaps a beter form to be feeding to ones plants. -
Anyone have any experience with Hortimix powder
PsyCLown replied to Grow for the love's topic in Indoor Growing
Honestly, not sure Ripen is worth it. Very similar to just Bloom and I never noticed any difference with it. If one is not feeding a bloom nute, then sure it will make a difference. If you are, I doubt you'd notice much if any difference. -
Those are pistils, you'll sometimes see them on plants in veg if they're mature. Having them in flower likely helped push the plants to show pistils. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Hey all, So I am sure most of you have seen a few places pop up and more companies starting to offer clones. I must admit, I am in 2 minds about companies doing this, that is besdies the point the. I am curious to find out from those who have purchased clones, what did you get and have you grown it out? How was it? Was the pheno any good? Was it what you expected? Better? Were you a bit disappointed perhaps? If you guys have photos of the clones in flower, would be amazing! Just trying to get a general feel for how you guys feel about it and the quality of the phenos which you ended up with.

Silica / Organic / Synthetic (Discussion)
PsyCLown replied to The_StonedTrooper's question in General Questions & Answers
@Jimmy-z What do you use to drop the PH if not PH down? Do you find mixing the silicone first, then nutes then adjusting PH helped at all? -
Nutes are nutes, can be used in soil, coco, hydro - whatever really. GHE has a chart for soil and then a separate one for coco / hydro. You'd just follow the soil chart which is lower strength in comparison as soils have some nutrients in there already, unlike coco and hydro. As for chemicals, well, I get where you are coming from but avoiding them altogether is near impossible. Chemicals... Does not mean they are bad either. They save lives, they help reduce famine. Artificial is not a bad thing either, sometimes artificial is better for nature and the environment even. The plants are the ones processing the nutes, not you and your body and the plants are very happy with the nutes too. Upto you, if you don't want to use nutes then don't I'd let the plants get a bit bigger before flipping to flower.

The issue is, I will then need multiple bottles of the Eco Insect Control to make enough as a soil drench for my plants as I give my plants the same amount as if it is a normal feed for them to ensure the coco gets fully drenched. Anyways, I did apply the BioNeem, BioInsek and some other stuff to help the fungus and plants out last night as a soil drench. I just hope it works, may place another order for more Bio Insek too and do another drench next week... Perhaps get another bottle or 2 of the Eco Insect Control and do another drench at higher strength - perhaps go for less L per pot this time around as the BioNeem won't last for another soil drench as I did last night. I did check the cuttings though and there seemed to be fewer root aphids on the roots from what I could see and tell and the cuttings looked a lot happier (root wise).
