  1. You could probably make the room work, but a tent is going to be easier. You want to forcefully push air out of the window, so ideally have ducting running to the window with an exhaust fan - it will obviously look suspicious if anyone is able to view that particular window. Also it won't be 100% light proof, at least it will be difficult to achieve this. In terms of RH, you will never be able to drop the RH below the ambient RH - so whatever the RH is outside, is the lowest you will be able to get it in your grow room without a dehumidifier or similar as the fresh air being pulled into the grow room will be of the ambient RH. If you went for a 2.4 x 1.2 tent (2.88 sqm) then 4x 240W QB's would be optimal in terms of PPFD. For a 1.5 x 1.5 tent then 3x 240W QB's would be optimal in terms of PPFD. If you are at home / wherever the grow is just about all the time, when load shedding hits you can also simply dim down the lights a bit to reduce the load on the generator and allow you to run other electronics during load shedding. This will keep your plants cycle in place. Going back to the room, you will need to figure out a way to hang the lights from the ceiling or something. Might be another challenge which is once again made easier by using a grow tent. I hope this helps, but ultimately the choice is yours as to whether you want to try make the room work or whether you can justify buying a tent and using that, regardless I am sure members on this forum will continue to assist and guide you
  2. Welcome! We have a few vendors on the forum, some have really good pricing on lights. They're tried and tested and reputable companies. Quantum Boards vs LED strips, I have used both but I personally prefer the Quantum Boards due to their form factor and density of diodes. Both are great options, provided you get some good diodes - The Samsung LM301B/H diodes are fantastic and offer exceptional value for money as well as performance and efficiency. There is a reason they are some of the most popular diodes used for growing cannabis. A few retailers sell lights which can be dimmed, this is a nice to have feature but I know not every cares for dimming their lights but it can help save electricity in the long run. If you like the idea of being able to dim your lights, I feel it is a good idea to be able to monitor the watts you are dimming your lights to otherwise its a lot of guess work. I have not seen many retailers who offer a way for you to check the power going to the lights, in fact only one retailer that I know of who offer this - but if you have no desire to dim your lights it is a waste. As for the grow area, well, a concern I have is whether the room itself is light proof? When the lights go off for the dark cycle, since the grow area will be partitioned with plywood upto 1m high, it can allow leak to shine through from a window or the rest of the room depending on what else you plan on using the room for. Also 1m is a bit short IMO, I'd suggest 1.6m tall with mylar or white paint. Taller could work well too. Keep in mind you also need to make provision for air circulation in the room (normal fans are sufficient for this) and then you will want to extract air out of the air and ensure fresh air can get into the room. Plants consume CO2 and you want to ensure the air in the room is being replenished with fresh air and this will also help keep the humidity and temperatures under control. 1.5m x 2.0m is 3sqm which is a decent sized space. Optimally you would want around 1200W of LED lighting for this area, however you can get away with less if budget is an issue. Later on you can simply add more lights as funds become available.
  3. This is hard to say as I feel everyone looks for different things when growing a plant or looking at strains. What I may want in a plant may be something you do not care about or even the opposite to what you're looking. I have yet to find a breeder who just has fire strains. So there are some keeper strains, but at the same time they are not all keepers IMO. You may still need to sift through a few strains or do some research before buying strains to ensure you try get what you really want. However some of the breeders where I have grown out some of their strains previously which I quite enjoyed would be: In House Genetics Worlds Strongest Strains Dark Horse Genetics Swamp boys Seeds Irish Dabs (Pat Keller) Ethos (a lot of what I grew was not as advertised and left me wanting more, however I have seen a few strains which appear nice) EDIT: I must admit, I have grown a lot of, in my opinion at least, average strains and even some really shit ones. I am at the point where I am kinda over growing new strains with each grow I do and want to try find some keepers and stick to growing those alone and perhaps on the odd occasion add a new strain to the mix and see whether she is a keeper or not. The uncertainty when growing the same strain from seed is already something to consider, it is even worse when trying new strains or new breeders. A lot of inconsistencies with your grows and what to expect. The SO has kakked me out a few times due to the type of stuff we have had to smoke. There was actually a batch of Ethos Mandarin Cookies which we just could not smoke. I gave it away to someone who had no bud at all. If you want consistency with your grows, you need to make a plan to sift through various strains, find the plants you like and keep them and take cuttings from them. Just because some breeders sell expensive seeds, does not mean you will always get something good. I have said this many times before. In House Genetics is the perfect example, well known for putting out some frosty strains and amongst some of the more expensive seeds our local seed banks stock, but not all their stuff is good.
  4. Unlikely, I also run QB's but mine are 3000k (so more red, less blue) and I do not have issues with auto's going into flower early. It comes down to the strain and genetics as to when the auto will go into flower. Some do start to flower sooner than others, not ideal if you want a decent harvest as the plants tend to be quite small then.
  5. Ripper have some decent stuff. I guess it is more a blanket statement. There likely are better and more cost effective options out there. If funds are tight, form a group and split a pack of some expensive seeds if you want to try it out - makes it more affordable. Share the best pheno amongst the group. I'm not saying all expensive seeds are good, I know for a fact this is not true. I'm not saying all cheap seeds are crap, I know for a fact this is not true. European genetics wouldn't be something I'll willingly spend a lot of money on at this point in time. Many are attracted to them for the wide range of strains and often are a bit more affordable, however if price is your issue then looking local may be a good option. I don't think all local breeders are putting out top quality strains either though, so pick wisely. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  6. I have experienced seedlings being top heavy at times, support them for a little bit until the stem is strong enough to support the rest of the plant. I'd say add your fan to the tent to at least create a breeze and some air circulation, this can help strengthen the plants stems as well.
  7. Not all plants show sex in veg and some require more time to show their sex in veg than others.
  8. It is not really ethical, but it happens and we know it happens. In this case it is the same picture for two different strains... Who really knows what you are actually buying though. This is my personal opinion, the best advice I can give you, stop buying cheap european seeds. All these common dutch brands, try avoid them - fork out a little more if you have to and go with some US genetics instead OR some quality local stuff if you are on a tight budget... I know not everyone is going to agree with me on this, you don't have to. End of the day, you're the one smoking your weed and who has to live with your harvest. I will be smoking my home grown stuff with a big smile. Barneys farms, nirvana seeds, dutch passion, seedsman and the many more out there. If you are really on a tight budget, purchase some quality local genetics like what @Totemic is putting out. I assure you, you will be far happier with what you grow from Totemic than what you may get from the breeders I have mentioned above and last time I took a look Totemic's range is far cheaper too and you're supporting local. Win win win if you are on a tight budget, it's really a no brainer. I am not saying all dutch breeders are but they seem to like to sell jut. You may get lucky and find a gem, however this is likely to be far and few. If people stop buying them, companies will stop stocking them. You are putting all this money and effort into growing, why skimp on genetics and settle for subpar genetics? The genetics make the biggest difference when it comes to a grow, probably followed by your lighting and then nutrients next.
  9. I agree with @CreX Load shedding could potentially affect the plants and cause them to flower depending on your load shedding and plants. However it is common for plants to show sex in veg and have a few pistils appear. The pistil location and amount of pistils is normal and consistent with what a vegging plant looks like when it shows its sex. If it is flowering, you get a lot more pistils and at the bud sites.
  10. @Green looks good, you can wait to do more defol I feel.
  11. @Ill_Evan how is your auto looking?
  12. So I had a bit of a fuck up, due to the height of the plants and the weight of the colas... some plants fell down at the back of the tent and then some move fell over onto the other plants which pushed more plants over... a lot of plants had colas falling over so I had to get in there and try hang the colas up to keep them up until harvest which is not that long from now for some of the strains as some are very quick strains I believe. If I could get to the back of the tent, I could post pics of some other strains but you guys will have to wait a while. French Cookies, not sure I will grow this again: Frosted Apricots (I really really like this strain so far, hopefully the yield is good and smoke is good too): Exodus Cheese - big buds but lacking frost... This strain needs no introduction, the frost tells you what it is... Sugar cane: Blunicorn:
  13. A quick update, not much happening though. I did a slight defol after taking these pics. LSD 25: Gelato: OG Kush: Pluto Cut: Brooklyn Sunrise: Zam x cdls:
  14. @Criptoe how is the seedling doing now? Managed to pull through?

Very neat build, love the black! Far better than the plain silver.
  16. @Dr. Green Thumb never heard of it, not sure whether its organic or not. Got a link perhaps? Mixing nute lines is possible, but you should at least have a rough idea as to what you are doing.
  17. Looking good! You will likely need to defol again in 2 or 3 weeks.
  18. STS (Silver Thiosulphate Solution) is probably the most common way to get feminized seeds. Colloidal Silver is also rather popular, however finding it in the correct PPM strength locally can be a bit of a challenge. I have heard that gibberellic acid can be used as well, never really looked into it though. I have personally used STS with great success.
  19. Hahaha, sounds good to me. You're by the ocean too, right? Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  20. I get cravings, for junk... sweet shit.
  21. I thought it was, hmm, not sure what the right word is... I want to say cool or amusing but they could be misunderstood. Basically I see the humour in this, the eyes indicating you are clearly blazed. It is a cannabis forum, I think most members on this forum smoke. I do not think there was any ill intent behind this nor do I think it was meant to cause any harm. This does lead me to another topic where I feel a lot of people now a days, perhaps the youth in particular, seem overly sensitive. A lot of things being referred to as racist or insensitive where that was certainly not the initial intention... but that is a completely different topic altogether now and not really related to this. @Chris Jay sometimes trying to help others is simply not worth it, you end up worse off for trying and ultimately that person does not want help. You can lead a horse to water, but cannot force it to drink.
  22. Geez man, this kinda goes beyond trolling online. Perhaps it is more jealousy than anything else, mixed with people having issues with themselves. Quite crazy that you have to deal with this shit. Can't comment fully though as I was not there and am not sure of any prior history and such.
  23. Very nice @Totemic Very quick flower time indeed though
