Very cool, I like what you have built. Which breeder is the Wedding Cake from?

Do you bud wash? I always wash my bud, after seeing how dirty bud can be I prefer to wash it. I use a bucket with a mix of Lemon Juice and Bicarb of Soda and then I use another bucket or two of plain tap water. Curious to see if others also wash their bud and what their reasons are for washing or not washing their bud.

The Grandaddy Banner, Bruce Banner and GSC all have dense, hard buds and are full of trichomes and have some nice colour coming through during flower. I personally prefer the BB and GSC the most out of the 3 and I have smoked the GSC the most, although it was one of my lowest yielding plants actually.

So a bit of an update, the Charlottes Angel plant died... May she RIP and smoke well. lol It my fault, I'd have liked for her to go a bit longer as the trichomes were not mature. What caused her to die exactly, I am not 100% sure although I have the following theories: The AQ SF spray and milk, when I mixed the last bottle I did not dilute the milk which ended up leaving a very thick layer / coating on the leaves and I suspect this caused issues with transpiration and probably photosynthesis and I suspect this is the main reason for her death. I have been quite busy and with some waterings very late, by a few days - although the other plants in the tent managed to survive, so I think the more likely reason is #1 Anyways,I chopped her down this morning and did a bud wash and she is going to be drying now. I will then harvest the seeds and give the bud a try. Not sure how much CBD there will be due to the trichomes being immature and majority of them are clear. However I am still not convinced this is actually Charlottes Angel. I have since purchased new CBD seeds (Dr Seedsman, it's upto 20%+ CBD and under 1% THC). Very cheap seeds in comparison to the Charlottes Angel so I may actually just grow those out next and may even gift some of these "Charlottes Angel" seeds... Will see once the bud has dried and I can sample it. Most of this bud will probably be turned into dab and then used to make edibles and oils and so forth. I doubt I will keep much, if any, in flower form.... provided it seems to be Charlottes Angel. The way I will be judging will be whether I get high or not when smoking the bud.

So last night I finally got around to pollinating the Grape Diamonds with some Grape Diamonds pollen and hosed her down this morning - a bit gentler this time so she does not need any additional support for now. All plants looking good, the Inzane is coming along nicely with the seeds forming. Man Cookies #1 looking hella frosty! I wish my phone was better at taking pics of bud. The Man Cookies #2 has stretched a looot, a lot more than I anticipated as well so I had to bend some of the branches and tie them down to try and even out the canopy a bit. Before any additional training on the Man Cookies #2 One branch done: All the branches done: I must admit I have been neglecting this grow a bit due to life, however so far the results still appear to be decent. I have started giving 2 of the plants ripening nutes and will probably start flushing the Man Cookies #1 in a week or so and will be using some Florakleen to flush.

Very very nice! The Bruce Banner is a beautiful plant! The GSC as well, mine did not yield very well but the effects make up for it!

Don't you need specialized equipment to pack the carbon properly otherwise its not as effective?

How do you prevent light leaks with that pc fan? Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Well, aircon are great but they also need an exhaust which blows the hot-air out the window (portable aircon). Also your electricity will increase for sure. A carbon filter will probably be needed regardless and will get rid of the smell. Cheaper option may be a carbon filter and fan exhausting air out through the window. Later on perhaps consider an aircon? Or aircon and carbon filter together if you're feeling like a baller. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Based on your picture, by the end of Dec it's only around 7 or 8 weeks which is a bit short for a sativa strain. I'd Def push it for a bit longer in flower, although as you have said you have issues with pm and bud rot. It's not a bad thing, I see it as a good thing as it means you could most likely get far better yields and better quality bud. I typed out my previous message last night and forgot to hit send. Only sent it a few hours later and then didn't see the replies in between. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Perhaps just a fan blowing out the window? Although that'll force fresh air in, possibly from outside through a window or your front door or something. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Ahh ok, makes a bit more sense and you are by the coast so naturally the RH is higher. With that being said, if you trimmed and trained your plants a bit more and had a fan blowing over them (directly) I feel it could make a positive difference. Regarding the Charlottes Angel, yes, it's high CBD and almost no thc (less than 1%). As for why? To see what it's like and the effects and see if it will be helpful to people... I'm hoping so! Have you ever let this plant flower for longer? Harvested according to the Trichome Colour? Looking at the picture, and pictures can be deceiving, it still looks as if the bud could swell some more and cover / hide more of the pistils. Although I'm sure this could change a bit between strains. Perhaps consider giving it a try, or perhaps on just some of the plant - so harvest most when you normally would and leave some there to mature a bit more. I haven't tried this myself but have heard of others doing this with success. I'm sure a larger harvest will be appreciated too :D Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Looking good. What's in your grow? Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Yeah, decent LED's for R1k isn't likely to happen. I use 3000k LED's for veg and flower, although nothing wrong with using 3500k as well. I wouldn't mix like you said, unless you have full control over each spectrum and feel it may be useful. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Firstly let's start off by stating that not all LED's are equal. The par differs quite significantly and just because its bright and has a lot of lumen output does not mean it will work well for growing cannabis. 1. It's not advisable, 6500k is getting quite blue and more red light during flower is beneficial for cannabis. 2. Disco lights? Never heard of anyone using disco lights to grow, not sure how they differ but I imagine lights with just red LED's or just blue LED's - once again it goes back to the par of the light. How much of the light can the plants actually use / absorb. 3. No, not quite how it works. If you take tap water and add Orange food colouring, it does not become Oros. Its not necessarily the colour of light we as humans see, but the wavelength of the light. Majority of LED's now a days used for growing are full spectrum and to us humans appear to be white, or perhaps white with a slight yellow tint if it's a lower Kelvin (like 3000k), although it's outputting light in a rather broad spectrum and not just in the red light spectrum or blue light spectrum etc. So although the light to us does not appear as red or blue, there are high amounts of red and blue which the light outputs. 4. Not sure on the cheapest, there are a few options. HIDs can be purchased for a low price and I know@CreX was selling one and I think@Mambawana too - maybe reach out to them via PM. 5. Most use tents indoors in which case it has reflective mylar which works well. I've used a room and painted the walls white and it works well too. With a mirror I don't feel the light will be scattered and feel it may concentrate the light too much in a single spot and may even cause issues. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

A tent can't magically lower RH, at best without a dehumidifier your RH inside your grow area will only reach the RH which is outside the grow area. So for example if it's 70% RH outside, regardless of how great your airflow is the RH inside your veg area won't be lower than 70% It's possible I haven't noticed as much of an issue as in general I imagine my RH to be lower overall as Gauteng is drier than by the coast so even if it were to increase slightly its not really a concern. I agree with @Dr. Green my one Secret Jardin is a DS (Dark Street) and I absolutely love the light baffles and the space saver is pretty awesome too - but you can always make your own make-do space saver with some aluminium. I have not had any issues with the plastic corners, majority of tents seem to come with plastic corners - Mammoth tents too. I have only seen the cheaper chinese tents come with metal corners, as mentioned previously this was poorly welded and lead to my friend losing a tent and his entire grow. His 2nd cheap chinese tent has some cracks in his metal corner connector pieces although is still up and function for now - he will most likely replace it with a Secret Jardin or Mammoth next year. My 2nd Secret Jardin tent is a Hydro Shoot tent, I went with it over the Dark Street as the DS had the same sized tent with 16mm poles where the HS has 19mm poles and since it is a larger tent I prefer the idea of the 19mm poles. This being said I have purchased the light baffles separably and will be using them for passive air intake as I love the design and thought behind it. The Dark Street series are far more customizable and I wish Secret Jardin made all their other tents in the same way - brilliant idea and concept and it works well! I also got my Secret Jardin tents from GroHydro, they also have the light baffles and other accessories.

If I were in his situation, I would rather someone be honest and upfront with me than not say anything and later on I struggle and have issues. Together with all the posts, I think he has some good info and now has the option to either use the Culterra for chillies and get other soil for his cannabis or to try and make it work - so now it is ultimately up to him. I can see that if you had ended up with Culterra soil, you'd try and use it and make it work. I on the other hand would scrap it and get something else, nothing wrong with either approach. As long as we both get cannabis in the end I actually had some Culterra germination mix, I tried it but disliked it and gave it away. Was more like river sand. I have received rooted cuttings in Culterra soil and they went light green very quickly even with usual feeding and once I repotted into the OM soil I had at the time they were nice and dark green within 2 or 3 days. Soil makes quite a big difference. I think it was either you or perhaps @trichomechaser who created a thread or posts about which soils to avoid and the bark etc? That Culterra soil is like R34 for 30L from Builders, not too expensive and if he can repurpose it for chillies and save himself from possible issues later down the line, it sounds like a better plan to me. Freedom Farm soil also has Fungus Gnats. I have struggled to get rid of them in my grow. They're super annoying. Organics Matter soil has worms, which is a good thing. I have seen worms in my OM soil on multiple occasions.

As long as the extraction fan is running 24/7 and there is enough passive air intake, I do not think humidity will be an issue when lights are off. I have not experienced that at least, all my fans run 24/7. obviously the humidity in the room which the air is being sucked in from will play a massive role in the humidity inside your tent. Without an aircon or dehumidifier, the humidity inside your tent will never drop below the humidity outside your tent. -
I do not recommend you use that soil, keep it for the garden or give it away. In terms of nutrients, never tried that before either and have not heard of anyone using that before either - I know some have used Seagro with decent success for veg, although I would suggest getting something a bit more tried and tested in terms of soil and nutrients - unfortunately for the most part they tend to not be as cheap as the stuff one would find at a nursery / builders / checkers. For soil I would recommend Freedom Farms (around R180 for 30L) or Organics Matter (Around R160 for 30L). For nutrients there are lots of choices, BioBizz is a popular choice for those who want to try and do a more organic grow. You won't need an EC / PPM pen to use Biobizz nutes, just a PH pen. BioBizz Grow or Fish mix to use during veg and then BioBizz Bloom when they are flowering. I personally prefer BioBizz Fish Mix for veg if you are going with BioBizz. For the other nute ranges, it would be preferably to have an EC or PPM pen as the guides are not always very accurate.

Not that I grow hydro, however I love the idea of having the res elevator off the ground. Should make it much easier to drop the res and change it or inspect the roots etc.

A quick update pic, need to do some defoliation. I pollinated the Inzane on Tuesday night, after hosing her down before putting her back in the tent she got a bit top heavy. I will need to get some steaks to support her. Tried to take a few more pictures but was struggling and was in a hurry so left it. EDIT: A quick update on how far along the plants are. Man Cookies #1: 41 days into flower (around 3 - 4 weeks left) Inzane in the Membrane: 34 days into flower (around 5 weeks left) Grape Diamonds: 30 days into flower (around 5 weeks left) Man Cookies #2: 16 days into flower (around 7 weeks left) I will not be flowering the Early Lemon Berry, these will most likely be going to @CreX and he can do a grow diary for them if he so desires. The Grape Diamonds will be pollinated within the next few days, the pollen sacs appear to be almost ready. The Man Cookies #2 will still be a while before she gets pollinated.
