The GSC came in at 47g dry... The lowest yielding plant so far - still got the Chocolope... A quick summary of the dry weights so far. Bb - 90g Gdp - 70g Cbd critical mass - 67g Tropicana - 52g Gsc - 47g This brings me to a total of 326g dry so far and I am expecting at least 50g dry from the Chocolope, if so that'll bring me to around 370 - 380g dry from my tent and that leads to over 1g per watt at the max power I was giving the plants (360w) and I feel as if that was excessive and I could get away with less power. Had I grown 6x BB plants yield would be insane! Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Further updates! The Charlottes Angel surrogate is looking good, quite a tall plant due to the unplanned additional veg time. Kinda farked her up due to trying to keep her small - topped her too many times which I feel will negatively impact yield but that's alright for now. The Charlottes Angel next to my Chocolope plant which will be harvested later this week. The donor Charlottes Angel is also looking tall and finally some balls are starting to show!! Hopefully I'll have pollen by next week and then can cull the donor and put other plants into flower! Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Please let us know what you decide regarding the rosin press. I'd love to get one, but they are a bit pricey...

I believe there is a company around Fourways, Johannesburg which can do tests on your bud - I think is was R500 they wanted to charge. Never used them, so do so at your own risk - provide feedback if you do decide to give it a go. http://www.chromspec.co.za

Plant Showoff - Some of your best plants
PsyCLown replied to PsyCLown's question in General Questions & Answers
I need to get more lenses in general, although been wanting to get a macro lens and then a 50mm lens for a while. Never worked with any macro lenses though and lighting could be an issue, I know those ring flashes are quite popular for macro though. Some very nice pics! -
Very nice! Enjoy the QB's @Ill_Evan and let us know how it goes and compares to your HPS. Running my QB's at 130 to 140w in veg and some plants are further away from the LED's compared to your setup. It fits your tent really well too. Eager to see the outcome on this grow!

Plant Showoff - Some of your best plants
PsyCLown replied to PsyCLown's question in General Questions & Answers
Some nice pics, are they all from your phone or some from a DSLR? If so, what lens you using? -
Hydroponic tunnels? Not greenhouse tunnels. I wonder how the 420 cafe in Sandton is still open? Were they also acting under a traditional healer license?

I too would love to find a cheap solution for purging, although haven't yet. Also no cheap, decent solution for rosin. Quite frustrating. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

They could have started flowering due to them being autoflowers or they were not getting enough hours of light and therefore went into flower. If a plant gets 12 or less hours of light it will flower. If its an autoflower then they start to flower in 3 to 6 weeks generally - autoflowers flower based on time and not the duration of light they receive. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Growing Commercially Sold Genetics Vs Bagseed
PsyCLown replied to Ill_Evan's topic in Cannabis Genetics
I'd love to grow some, although finding some which are good is the problem. I don't know where to look and then just how good are they? As you said, legality is still an issue and affects breeding a fair bit. -

When you say local, are you referring to the land races? -

I agree, even if you do not want to grow a lot of different strains - purchase one or two good ones and just keep growing those. I personally do not find it worth while waiting 5 months or so to get bud which is disappointing to save a few hundred rands. Seeds can be a once off purchase if you just keep cloning. I grew a bagseed plant, it turned out pretty good and impressive looking fortunately. Although a grow is only as good as the weakest link really, if you have the best of everything but shit genetics you are going to still get shit. I like to use bodybuilders as an example to compare against cannabis as it can be easy to relate to and understand. In order for a bodybuilder to perform their best, they require certain things - they need to eat right, get enough sleep, train hard and need to have good genetics. Without training and getting all the other stuff dialed in, they will not reach their full potential. Now compare the bodybuilder to an average joe, with sub-par genetics. No matter how much they train and work on trying to be the best if their genetics are shit they will not get as big as the other guys and their performance will not be on the same level. In animal terms, you cannot take an Jack Russell and turn it into a Labrador. The genetics are what they are and end of the day can be a limiting factor. -
Well, the drying process will probably take 3 - 5 days, as I doubt they will be perfect. Then it is best to throw the bud into a jar with a boveda pack to regulate the humidity and let it cure or a bit, most recommend at least 3 weeks but you could start smoking it after it has dried - but wait if you are able to.
-
Yes, the bud would dry too quickly as the biltong dryer has a fan which pulls air directly over the biltong if I am not mistaken? If it dries too quickly, there is not enough time for the enzymes to breakdown what they need to (I think it is the sugars and chlorophyll) and this can lead to a harsh smoke.

A seed? Hmm, post a picture perhaps.

I scrape the frost off and use it like butter! Mmmm -
Well, if you want to smoke the bud then you would still need to dry it. You could use the fresh bud to make bubble hash though I believe, have not done this myself. A hermie is a plant which has both male and female parts, so the plant will pollinate itself. Once a plant has become pollinated / seeded, it spend more energy on forming the seeds and the quality of the bud tends to decrease... Plus smoking seeded bud is frustrating and more of a hassle.
-
When drying you want to try and prolong the drying, keep the temps down and try keep the humidity around 55 - 65% If the RH is too high you have a higher chance of getting mold, if it's too low it may dry out too quickly. If the temps are too high, the terpenes can end up affected in a negative way and you can end up with bud which does not taste great. You also want to dry in a dark place as light can negatively affect the bud. Regarding THC from the drying bud, I do not think so. The highest risk is when you smoke it, if she is around - the 2nd hand smoke could possibly lead to positive test results.
-
Nice! As long as you have room to raise it. It looked as if it was already at the top of the tent.
-
No if the plant was pollinated or not wouldn't affect the plant re-vegging. Also others in your area may have had males which spread pollen to your plants. So even if you have no male plants, your plants can still become pollinated unfortunately. The risk is a bit higher outdoors compared to indoors, but it is possible for this to happen with an indoor grow if you do not have filters to remove the pollen - I do not many (if any) of us have filters which will catch and trap the pollen.

Limit to hours it gets light to 12, needs to be pure darkness with no light leaks. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

I suspect the plant may be revegging due to the increase in hours of light. The other plant may follow suit as well. Unless you step in and force the plants to flower, they will only go into flower next year, I think around Feb / March.
