  1. Looking good! Keen to see the scrog net full with buds in a few weeks time. Looking at the pictures, it appears as if height is a bit of an issue for you. The HID seems rather close to the scrog net.
  2. You're back again!? Haha Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  3. Hahaha, this is very true. Gotta limit yourself at times too. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  4. I must be honest, I wonder whether we are able to notice the difference between say 24% THC and 28% THC on the same strain. As soon as you go for a different strain, the dominance in terms of Sativa / Indica I find plays a larger role in how you find the strain. So what I am saying is that someone may find an Indica dominant strain with say 20% THC more potent than a Sativa dominant strain with say 24% THC. I cannot confirm whether this is actually the case, although having smoked some bud which had been tested in a lab and came back with basically 26% THC and trying to compare it to the other stuff I have grown and some of my friends have grown ... it's rather difficult. Although I do still prefer going for a strain with higher THC percentage and some of the stuff I have grown def does not feel as strong to me compared to the strains which are listed as higher THC percentages. For example the Bruce Banner #3 is known to have been tested above 30% THC on a regular basis and my GDP is crossed with the same BB#3 that I grew out and both are decent in terms of potency when compared to my Daquari Lime auto - not sure what THC percent the plant is rated at but since it is an auto I am going to assume around 20% and then when comparing it to my CBD Critical Mass - which is meant to only be 6 - 8% THC and then 6 - 8% CBD, I do find I need to smoke quite a little more of it to get a similar buzz going but the way the buzz comes on and affects me makes me think the CBD strain could actually be quite a bit higher in THC. Then when comparing that 26% strain which was tested to a strain which is rated 12 - 19% THC, the difference was hard to tell. The 12 - 19% strain was a heavier indica though and the 26% strain a hybrid. Although, when I smoked cheap outdoor bud which is seeded I literally needed like 3 bowls to get a buzz going. I'd love to be able to have more bud tested for THC Potency, although based on my limited experience I am guessing that the difference is not as noticeable unless the THC % jump is quite significant. With that being said, I can certainly still notice a difference in potency between some strains. In terms of terpene profiles, eh, it's part of the experience but I do not smoke for the terpene profiles. I smoke for the effects. I have some weed which is just plain boring and tastes like cardboard but it's the exception among what I have grown. Ironically my CBD strain stands out the most in terms of terpene profile. The smell and taste are extremely unique, to me at least.
  5. Man there is a lot: Always PH your water, even if it's an organic grow Don't waste your time with lemon juice and bicab, use proper PH up and PH down (it won't really affect the microbes) Do not waste your money on a cheap PH pen, get a good one outright Don't waste your money on a humidity dome - not needed for seedlings or cuttings There are great, cheap nutrients out there - BioBizz isn't necessarily the best and certainly not the most cost effective Good genetics are worth the money, the US has some top shelf genetics. Look there for good shit, over the Netherlands Watering is a PITA - get an automated watering system sooner than later Fork out money for good lights!! Organic grows are not really "better" than grows which do not make use of soil and/or organic nutrients
  6. The medium you decide to use would also determine which direction you should look in with regards to nutrients. If you plan on using coco and perlite as opposed to soil, I would not advise using BioBizz. I feel you would be better off using something like Hortimix which is really cheap from Hydroponic.co.za If you decide to go the soil route, you can use BioBizz but are not limited to using BioBizz - once again Hortimix seems to work well. With time, start to play around and see what happens and go from there. I like to start feeding nutes a bit earlier than others, but at the same time you do not want to burn the plants - even with soil I started giving nutes fairly early on. Biobizz nutes seem to be on the weaker side in the sense that when using it according to their recommendation, you generally won't burn your plants or stunt them... It takes time for the organic stuff to be broken down and be made fully available to the plant, where the synethetic nutes are available immediately to the plant. If you want to automate watering, I would not use BioBizz. Leaving that sitting in a res, I feel it will become nasty pretty quickly.
  7. Mind blowing, no urgency with regards to this matter. This could easily be seen as a larger "dealer", probably one of the easiest to take down as well. They have multiple stores across the country. It's basically being handed to them on a silver platter. Walk in and you will find weed, you can even make a controller purchase yourself without any difficulty. Yet they have "busted" people growing in their homes, old ladies, people making oil and these guys are still free to do their own thing...
  8. Auto's are not something I have spent a lot of time researching into really, which breeders have strains which consistently hit 25% or higher THC in terms of autos? On Photoperiods it's becoming common to get 28% and higher now. I like the idea of running some autos in my veg area now and then while waiting for some photoperiods to flower.
  9. The cocoforcannabis site has tons of great info for growing in general! If you go for soil, the main appeal is to have microbes which break down the organic matter to provide nutrients to the plants, but I was still giving nutes when growing in soil along with doing teas and microbe inoculations - it's actually a bit of a mission after doing it for a while. I am now trying synethetic nutes in soil, however feel I can get better results with synethetic nutes in coco & perlite so looking at making the change. Synthetic nutes are dirt cheap, coco and perlite are dirt cheap. You will save money by using synethetic nutes and coco & perlite. A coco brick can be purchased for R55 which expands to 60L give or take, Perlite is like around R220 for 100L - compare this to R160 - R180 per bag of soil (30L). Synethetic nutes can be purchased was stupid prices, Hortimix and Haifa are what I am currently using - well I have the Haifa but have yet to try it. Compared to the BioBizz nutes I was using before it's stupid the price difference. With Coco & Perlite and fertigation, you can have your grow setup so that you literally just check the plants and refill the res - super simple and effortless, at least that is what I am hoping for. I don't see what possible issue could creep up really. I see people stating that the growth which can be achieved in coco & perlite in 4 weeks would generally take around 6 - 8 weeks in soil. How true this is, I am not sure as I am still in the process of moving over to coco but if that is true it will be phenomenal! Especially when growing autoflowers, since they start to flower automatically based on time and their veg period is very important and you want them to grow as quickly as possible before flowering so you can get a bigger plant and therefore a larger yield. Shoter veg times = electrical cost savings. Since you are running HID lights the cost savings will be quite a bit more than someone like me running LED's... You combine it with the medium cost savings and the nute cost savings, over a year it makes a massive difference. Especially if you are growing a larger amount of plants and leads to faster harvests. It's a decision you really need to make yourself. Both are great ways to grow and they both have their own pros and cons.
  10. So people seem to think coco & perlite have a steeper learning curve, although right now you're going to be learning a lot anyways. So you can out the time and effort into soil or coco. I'm busy trying out coco and am coming from organic living soils, I prefer Organic Matters soil over Freedom Farms soil personally. You can use synthetic nutes in soil as well, probably better / easier if you want an automatic watering system. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  11. Well, if you go for coco and perlite, it's more comparable to a hydro setup and it's rather pointless using organic nutes as there isn't any organic matter for microbes to break down. Growth could be much quicker in coco / perlite though. You can use soil and organic nutes if you'd like, although the organic nutes I wouldn't want sitting in a res for very long and it could cause build up and blockages. 12. @AcidAlice have you run any of the Mephisto strains? He seems to have a decent following with his autos and a few autos with higher THC which has piques my interest a bit. I have heard from some that his strains are not always the most stable with quite a few mutations popping up at time .
  13. Quite the franken build, I like the idea of driverless - makes life far easier. Although as I have mentioned before, with LED lighting it is all about the diodes, not all diodes are equal. While I am sure it will output some decent light and I am sure you could grow some cannabis under it, you can even use a flood light LED to grow cannabis - although I wouldn't recommend using it for flowering - I wonder how efficient it is compared to diodes commonly used for the horticulture industry. How much of the output the plants can actually make use of - the PPFD basically. For clones and seedling I think it would be great, for flowering - I guess you will try it out and let us know? Keen to see a grow diary. Regarding the shipping from AliExpress, what did you use in terms of shipping? The couriers are often super expensive and the other options are terribly slow and unreliable as they go through SAPO. Eager to see some more DIY stuff coming from you and welcome to the forum! Enjoy your stay
  14. Congrats man! So two strains, how many of each plant in total? What medium do you plan on growing in? I assume coco or soil since you want to look into automatic watering systems. I was looking at setting up a dripper system, but was having issues with leaks or lack of pressure for the Pressure Compensated valves so trashed the idea and am going to be giving the Blumat Tropf system a go. I still have my arrow drippers which I could sell to you, along with some piping. It will probably be the cheaper automatic watering system, compared to a Blumat setup.
  15. Nice, with the super low THC do you get any buzz when smoking the Charlottes Angel? Also how long do you find she normally taken to flower?
  16. Nice, looking good. You're going to be using Seagro as nutrients going forward? Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  17. @SkunkPharm is this your first time running Charlottes Angel and how many weeks into flower is she? I put mine into flower around 3 or 4 weeks ago.
  18. I use a tent to dry in, in JHB has been super dry. I have had my humidity creep up to 80% after the first day where outside was in the 30's You could even go a step further and get a controller which monitors RH and then connect it to a humidifier and/or extraction fan to keep the RH on point. I will be doing that next time.
  19. Welcome and I am sure you will enjoy your stay! As @420SA mentioned, start a grow diary and if you get stuck ask for help. Killing your plants won't be nearly as easy to achieve then. Good equipment is not cheap, but it's money well spent generally. Good genetics also aren't cheap, but it certainly makes a difference - TH Seeds are well priced and pretty good and I see one of the Vendors on the forum @Cannabist stock them and currently have a special running too. Worlds Strongest Strains are awesome, although regular seeds and not terrible in terms of pricing. Since you get regular seeds, you can always easily breed for more seeds if you'd like. Biltong n Budz stock WSS.
  20. Nah, should be good not filled to the top. I wouldn't worry about it. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  21. Haha, now that you mention it, it actually does. Very dense bud! The dry weight yielded from the plant blew me away for its size! Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  22. So I snapped a quick pic this morning of the surrogate (to be) Charlottes Angel plant. Around week 3 of flower I think, cannot remember exactly. Need a bit more defoliation when I get a chance.
  23. Hmm, interesting. A friend has a Pax 3 and comapred to my cheap chinese herb vape it seems far more powerful and the larger chamber in the PAX 3 is awesome! I like the idea of having a portable vape, don't feel the need for a desktop vape at the moment and the decent vapes are not cheap. I like that the ArGo uses 18650 batteries, easy to source and you can carry many and swap out the battery as needed - don't need to plug it in to recharge when flat. Although we're getting off topic now. Perhaps this needs a new thread, or just a more private conversation.
