Advice needed about my 1000W LED Full spectrum light
PsyCLown replied to BeerBottle's topic in LED Lighting
The type of diodes make a world's difference when it comes to growing with LED's. Also LED's are seldom run at their max power handling as their efficiency drops, you get diminished returns after a certain point. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk -
Advice needed about my 1000W LED Full spectrum light

You have not been ripped off per say, a 1000w light will cost way more and in a small area will probably burn your plants or not even fit. For that price, stick to what you have and save up for some better quality LED's, your current ones will work fine for your grow I'm sure. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk -
So you're going to find every one has their own preferred methods. I've tried to germinate in paper towel and in rapid rooters, I prefer paper towel. Firstly I've never scrubbed / sanded my seeds. I only soak for around 24 hours and have yet to see taproots during that period. I then put them into some Woolworths paper towels (no bleach) and into a zip lock bag to seal in the moisture. I then wait for the taproot to be around 1-2cm long (sometimes they're longer), I then use tweezers and stick them into soil with the leaves / shell exposed above the soil. So far I've only had 1 seed not germinate. I prefer paper towel over rapid rooters as I find it germinates a little quicker, roots take easier and quicker when in soil. I like that you can see whether a seed has a taproot yet in paper towel too. I planted a seed into soil once and covered it and it germinated but then was growing sideways and I had to redirect it and risk damaging it. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Extremely unlikely it's 1000w. Best would be to hook up a multimeter to it and check the volts & amps and calculate the wattage that way. If I had to guess I'd say it draws between 120-250W I'd probably keep it around 30-60cm above the. Canopy depending on the power and the type of LED's used. Day 79 / Day 27 of Flower A quick update of some pics, will do a more detailed update in a few days. These pics were taken last night. Flowering is going well, buds are forming nicely and they're filling out. I must admit, the bagseed is actually the best looking and smelling plant currently. I may need to give it a name and keep it. I have pics of the three at the back and what they are and then all 6 together. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

This is something I have been wondering about as well since the changes in the US were made. How would they accurately test to see whether you are / were under the influence? I wonder if they are able to tell how much currently "active" THC is in your blood vs how much "dormant" THC is there? Also what about medical patients who have built up a tolerance to it.

With lights there is always a play off, unless you are able to afford some decent grow lights once off. I personally feel it is worth finding the cash to get good quality LED grow lights. Will save you a lot of money in the long run! Not just because you do not need to purchase better lights later on, but you will be saving on electricity too!

So seems the pollen took for the Daquari Lime as there are some orange / brown / burnt pistils on the plants. I am starting to wonder whether the Charlottes Angel seed were mixed up and that I received some photoperiod seeds as opposed to autoflower seeds as the plants are 2 months old and still no signs of sex, let alone any signs of flowering. I may take some cuttings and see what happens, I would not mind at all if they were photoperiod instead, I'd actually prefer it!

That's correct, I think they have an hour or two to take you to have your blood drawn for the court case. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

Those strips use the LM301B diodes, correct? Same as my Quantum Boards, I love them! 3000K I find works really well, even for veg. I assume you will be using alu strips to mount them to?

Well now you making me think... This is my 1st grow, so not sure how big she'll grow lol! I believe outdoor plants only start to flower in Jan - March, properly from march. So you still have a few months of veg time with her if you're doing it outdoors. You could cut it short by only giving her light for 12 hours and then bringing her inside for 12 hours and making sure she gets no light for those 12 hours. Then you can flower whenever you want to. 20L should be sufficient then.
-
No, end goal is to keep her in pot... Next grow will be in the ground fully outdoor. Oh ok, but you will be flowering her outside? So still a long time until she starts to flower so she is going to get BIIIG. I do not think 20L will suffice, you will need to go bigger I think, although you can use 20L for now.

I agree with @Smelly Joe anything below the scrog net I would clean up, so remove the smaller branches and leaves etc. Look at what my plants looked like after I cleaned them up: Looking back at those pics, they have actually grow a looot since then too!
-
Ahh ok, so the end goal is to put it into the ground? Yeah, 20L should be fine then and then afterwards put it into the ground. Even 10L may suffice for now, just until the weather improved a bit.

I prefer softer stems, generally where I take my cuttings from the stems are softer and smaller anyways.

So some pics, below is the plant last night after spreading some pollen on her: Then this morning I hosed the plant down to try get rid of any lose pollen, no change in colour yet on the pistils / stigma. Will see tonight, I believe it happens within 24 hours. I moved the plant back into my grow area after hosing her down.
-
Looking good, I don't think you need to do any trimming yet. Up to you though. You will be flowering outside too? Will you be putting the plant into the ground or keeping it in pots? It will need a larger pot soon.

So when you take cuttings again, give this a try - even if it is only on some and not all of them. Put the cuttings straight into some tap water, leave it for 12 - 24 hours (not longer) and then put your cloning powder / gel on and then into the eazy plugs / jiffies / soil / bubble cloner etc. DO NOT cover them with a humidity dome but keep them in your veg area. You will not have to baby them, they will not flop down and will root pretty easily. I am now using a bubble cloner, I much prefer it over jiffy pellets and rapid rooters and soil. I like that I can watch and see when there are roots and it's super easy, no maintenance required at all. Just put them in and leave them until roots have formed then plant them. I created a thread where I built my bubble cloner, it's really easy and not all that expensive. My success rate has been super high. So far the only cuttings I had to throw away were the 4 corners on in my bubble cloner - when I tested it I realized there were not enough bubbles getting to the corners and then 1 cutting I took from a plant which was very unhappy. I did not take good care of the cutting either so it was tossed. The rest have all taken or are still alive. That is over 36 cuttings so far.

Welcome, I guess we shall receive a link once you are signed up as a vendor? -
I have my cuttings in my veg tent, I find it is the easiest as the RH is higher so it helps. I don't use a dome anymore, just makes the cuttings "weak" and they rely on you babying them then. My cuttings are on an 18/6 cycle, no issues. I doubt 24/0 makes them root faster.

So upon further inspection, I noticed that some pollen sacs had cracked open... inside my veg area which is where I am keeping my auto's. I did not have time to move them to the new tent yet, so fuck it. Took them both outside, picked off a few other cracked pollen sacs and sprinkled the pollen onto the pistils of my female plant and wiped down my grow area a bit as best as I could. Both plants will sleep outside tonight, tomorrow morning I want to try hose down the pollinated plant and leave her outside to dry and then she can go back inside the flowering area. I did get my new lights up and running, have them in my veg area and have taken the QB out - so that is ready for the new tent at least. I really hope no pollen has gotten and is going to get onto my flowering plants, an indoor grow with seeds is extremely annoying! Such a waste. The next STS spray will be on Wednesday evening, although I may give it a skip until I start seeing pistils on the Charlottes Angel.

@Trailblazer420 what do you mean by 3rd generation on the Cinderella 99?
-
I have some 12v PC fans, so may hook one up inside the tent for some circulation... I will have to monitor and see.
