I got Francis and Brandon this weekend, both will defend their titles

Flower tent update. The ZxP below are about a week and a bit into flower. Looking healthy and happy. I have since switched on the reservoirs for the AutoPots and tonight I also switched on the air domes for them. I have also setup the stretch nets for the tent in preparation for maximum nugs. Below are the Gorilla Zkittlez that went in a week ago. They are already developing their preflowers, mmm I haven't switched on the air domes yet but the reservoir was switched on yesterday.

Sounds like a new dealer that got a bit excited at how much people were willing to pay for bud

Ain't that the worst I've been there too.

That'd probably be advantages in case it's a bit humid in the mornings when your current season starts going into flower closer to the colder months. Do you have an idea when your Blue Dreamsicle should begin to flower this year?
-
I am busy harvesting the ripe ZxP that have been ripening up for the last week where I have also cut off the water supply for the last 7 days. The buds are looking real good. I am about half way through the chop and I am on a break. Here are a few pics of the preharvest:

I tried a 24k Strawberry once, it was a difficult grow outside and I definitely didn't do it justice

No need to censor anything, I wanted to give @rdc420 a chance to see where it went. You never know what you might learn. I think everyone's given their 2c's on the strain debate and the topic of semi-auto, so let's agree to disagree. At the end of the day it's a grow diary and we would really like to see your growing progress @rdc420 keep up the updates my dude.

Nice neat setup, lots of different things going on. Cool to see a video diary imma just watch and type comments as I go I'm keen to see how your Jungle Boys plants come along, especially that Blue Dreamsicle. Purpsicle neh? That sounds dangerous. Cool to see the Cannaclones coming along well. The clone industry is interesting to me. I wasn't aware GSR were also doing clones. I see you do a mix of synthetic and organic nutes, do you separate the two beds or just gooi alas? I'm keen to check up on the diary updates my man

Might also help with that deficiency too What happened

Veg tent update. I've come to a realisation and have acted upon it. I don't believe I will get a chance to go back to certain strains that are in my stable for a long while and it is eating at my resources a bit to keep preserving them in the small space that I currently have. I am happy though with all the cloning I had to do in order to preserve the mothers so at least my cloning game got an upgrade...or so I thought. So we remain with; Zkittlez x Purple Punch - Ripper Seeds (ZxP) KmintZ - Ripper Seeds (KM) Gorilla Zkittlez - Barneys Farm (GZ) Wedding Cake - 1000 Hills Nursery (WC) The four KmintZ seedlings are doing really well, although I have noticed a small deficiency developing and gave them a healthy dose of nutrients. In general I try not to max out the nutes right away and try work my way up slowly so maybe I started a bit too light. The leaves are looking nice and chonky, fat indica vibes, but as you can see there is some hints of yellow developing on the edges and centre points of the leaves. I saw @CreX mention having similar issues with potassium deficiency and the leaves looking something like this, so I'm keeping that in mind. The coco is not reused. The ZxP clones are coming on nicely. Although they take much longer to root than I had initially planned for. These clones rooted only after like close to a month. Bananas. You can imagine what utter delight it was to finally see roots pop out. As far as I understand I do everything correctly; 45 degree cuts near or on the nodes, double dip (gel + powder), trim the leaves, soaked Jiffys in warm water, vents closed for first three days, vents open until roots appear, spray only leaves from top once a day, if Jiffys get too dry I dip the bottoms of the Jiffys in extremely weak pH'd nutrient feed. I mean they look pretty healthy for sitting in a propagator with no supposed roots for more than 3 weeks so I'm not sure what's not triggering the root growth sooner. My initial thoughts are maybe that the Jiffys are too wet in the beginning, so the clones are waterlogged. On the next run I am going to gently squeeze out a little of the water out the Jiffys before planting the clones. I'm also thinking I need to take some bigger clones.

I gotta say, I'm not even 100% sure what's happening here with early flowering photoperiods/autos due to environmental conditions vs genetics. My gut feeling it's a mixed answer where certain plants with certain genetic triggers are influenced by certain environmental factors. In a way you could call all photoperiods "semi-auto" using this reasoning. However maybe the Lebanese strain is simply very sensitive to environmental changes that genetically trigger its flowering period, more sensitive than the traditional photoperiod, and maybe this is because of the environment the strain has had to adapt to, which at first thought doesn't immediately spring to mind "ideal" conditions, "especially adapted for outdoor growing in hot and arid climates, showing excellent resistance against drought and high temperatures". I rate @Naughty.Psychonaut is correct in his assessments then, and I also appreciate the effort you went through to dig out grow diaries to help prove your arguments. Yes, maybe redundantly it all boils down to environmental conditions which trigger the plants to react, but they gotta have that genetic trait, which is what I think @rdc420 is saying. I also think @rdc420 is going on genuine information that they retrieved themselves and from others close to them so let's give them the benefit of the doubt, it's starting to become quite an interesting debate that I for one am actually interested to find the answer to. If we can keep it lekker and civil I think we could come up with something good here. Keep it up.

That's a crazy amount of bark in the first few pictures. Usually bark can make the soil too acidic for cannabis. What's that top dressing in the pots at the moment? Some kind of mulch?

By that time the plant is growing vigorously so there is less of a chance of stunting the plant out from stress. Before this point the plant is focusing more on developing roots and sometimes it appears as though the seedling has stunted, then all of a sudden there is easily observed daily growth. It is at this point that topping is a great idea because you know you have the roots geared to pump your plant into its next stage of growth.

@Righteoussower if you're tempted to truly go down this path of mainlining/manifolding (advanced topping) then I would recommend that you start with just 8 main stems and get used to growing and training a plant to obtain that kinda shape. What you want is to first obtain this kind of shape, this is a plant I did early on when I first got into growing: You obtain this by first letting your seedling get like a solid 5/6 nodes above the cotyledons. You will then top above the third node from the bottom and you will end up with something like this: You will then train the branches to grow flat horizontally using ties, preferably soft ties so you don't cut into the branches. You will grow these branches until they each have grown 4 nodes. You will then top each branch after the third node again, and also remove the 2nd pair of branches each. You will only keep the first and third nodes of each branch. This is because the 1st and 3rd nodes will grow horizontally and not vertically like the 2nd node. Then you just keep training until you get something like the first picture above. Then from there you can decide when to flip. You will then end up with something like this: You can literally take this technique and shape your plant however you want. Extreme versions are like what @Naughty.Psychonaut has posted above. There are guys who can fill entire rooms doing this with only a few plants. Just know that it will take much longer to veg your plant to first obtain the shape, and then you will need to really ace your flower period. You don't want to put all that time into growing such a complex structure only for thrips or a deficiency to just chop you at the knees, so go into it with confidence. Good luck Padawan. Extra sauce
