I started out with DWC and am now slowly moving away from it, mainly because I want to start getting into doing SCRoG nets and doing that with a standard DWC setup is balls to change the reservoirs. DWC was definitely super cheap to start out; literally just needed to buy the nutes, air pump and airstones. Cool thing is when I move away from DWC I can repurpose the airpumps for maybe a AACT system, or if I ever decide to go Autopots I can run the airpumps into the pots for some extra bang. Ironically, soil can be either even cheaper, or one of the most expensive options. Cheap if you pop the seeds outdoor, expensive if you go indoor with proper pots, bagged soil and Biobizz nutes, plus all the other equipment. But expense aside, I am having a blast using Freedom Farms Premium (Green Bag) with Biobizz. Some of the most hastle-free growing I've had yet, but I attribute that to all the mistakes I made while doing hydro. The great thing about hydro is that if there's a problem, you can immediately flush, throw out the reservoir and make your amendments. With soil, I feel like you really gotta know what's wrong before making a fix because from what I have seen, there's about a 3-4 day delay to actually seeing a result to a fix. Although, given all the buffers provided with going with soil, in order to have gotten into a really bad problem is a feat of it's own (at least nutrient wise). So I think I'll say, yes a beginner can begin with soil. Should they though? I think what a beginner should definitely do is buy the right soil. The biggest issue I see with beginners and soil is they either try to pop the seeds or transfer seedlings into soil that's way too hot, or the soil is entirely terrible. With hydro, unless you're using pool water, or live in an area with poor water quality, everything else is pretty much in your control and in a way, less can go wrong due to naivety. Jissis I've literally gone back and forth in my head with whether to vote yes/no I'm going to take the question literally; should a beginner start with soil? I'm going to say no. I think a beginner should learn the ropes with hydro so they can attend to deficiencies/toxicity immediately and also learn the subtle art of 'less-is-more'.

Looking good, some solid advise so far. Keen to watch the grow

I honestly went with Fastbuds because of you

Assuming you will be doing the same strain. I'm not sure how to tell in advance if a strain is hardy or can take hot soil unless it's a popular strain with many grow diaries. I suppose if it weren't an auto flower you could pump through it but alas. Got my first autos recently so I'm learning from everyone's issues as much as possible I know my one Dinafem - Deep Sweet Grapefruit would have loved some hot soil cause I could never get it to show stress at all from nute strength.

Whoooo I'm too n00b with soil mixes, gonna have to bring in the soil boys. @CreX @ORGANinc. @Totemic @PsyCLown any thoughts on this one?

Fascinating concept, but I wonder if one would maybe rather use yeast do generate CO2 in their grow room. There's a ridiculously over-priced product that does this kinda thing: Link I bet one could make a DIY CO2 generator of this kind at a fraction of the price.

I've gotten this before with my seedlings when I overfed nutrients too soon. What soil and nutrients are you using?

Just make sure you're ordering from https://www.cannabisseeds.co.za/ and not https://www.cannabisseed.co.za/ The missing 's' in the last link stands for 'scam'.

Great advise. I've ordered from Overgrow before and they seem legit.

Definitely gonna watch this one

Hey Raf, I rate as long as the strain is a majority/pure indica with a late harvest then it should be great for pain and insomnia. The reason for the late harvest being a prerequisite is that the later the harvest, the more THC is converted to CBN which is fantastic for pain and insomnia. The reason for indica is that sativas usually have less CBD. You would want the CBD to help counteract and level out the affects because you're using it to help you sleep.

Been a while since the last update, still building on the initial flower production. Things have been pretty breezy so far. I didn't quite get the flat canopy between the two bigger plants that I wanted but ey The Outdoor Single Fat Ladies Skinny Chicks Potted Babies Le Overview 16 Fingered Groot @StickyD420

Should probably do an update tonight

If I knew when I first bought what I know now I probably could have saved quite a bit, but then I wouldn't have gotten to use a few different things here and there

Thought that was a real bug man

..yes Edit: Although I'll probably have to rework it a bit to fit the current Bill, but I'll wait until it's official before I put the work in

0.25 grams of concentrate is equal to 1 gram of dried cannabis. So if you are allowed 1.2kg of dried cannabis, and you produce 1.5kg in your yield, and then take 0.5kg and turn it into concentrate, your theoretical stash amount is equal to 1kg (dried cannabis) + x of concentrate as long as the concentrate isn't more than 50g. 50g concentrate = 200g dried cannabis That time where you have the extra 300g over the 1.2kg limit will be like breaking the speed limit. If you wanted to play it safe I'd put that 0.5kg of dried cannabis into a container and label it "For Concentrate". Edit: Or if you wanted to play it even safer just gift the extra 300g dried cannabis to a mate or three and make the hash/concentrate at their place. Edit edit: You have to be given the opportunity to dry your harvest and measure your yield before you know how much you have so you can't be faulted for accidentally going over the limit, but do note that 1.5kg of dried cannabis is considered a trafficable amount of cannabis, so as soon as that is realised, the sooner it is rectified the better. Like with breaking the speed limit, if you notice you are speeding, and you slow down to the limit, no harm done, you're not instantly fined or arrested.

I'm not sure it's even on the radar. There is already a legal avenue for the big guys with lots of capital to setup shop for export. So whenever we start hearing about anything to do with local commercial sales will be when that is addressed, and if it's anything like what is happening in Canada, the small guys would be left behind. So I foresee a lot of work still to be done.

Law degree really helps Sure you can, just don't call it a transaction. You're allowed to gift 100g of dry herb, 30 seeds/seedlings, and one flowering plant. There's also a section where you can calculate amount of concentrate you can have/gift. It is simply two giftings happening one after the other Don't worry. If anything gets you "in trouble" you're really only left with the inconvenience of dealing with the police as long as you are indeed within the scope of the law. This is why we must remain vigilant and make noise if the time comes. I also have no doubt we would be given direction by Fields of Green and Schindlers Attorneys in this regard as well.

I felt the same, hence I may have come across harshly. I also apologise for the abrasiveness. It would be awesome if you stuck around and continued to contribute to the forum.

The constitutional court said they have to have the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act amended by the end of this September, so unless they grant an extension it should all come together by then. You can donate up to 100g at a time to another adult according to this Bill. Also remember, that a "Private Dagga Club" is meant to be a non-profit organisation, so any funds accrued by the club needs to go straight back into the club for maybe like events, electricity or paying the gardener to look after the plants for the club. You don't need to worry about GMP or ISO because this is a private club and the product isn't available for public consumption. The consumer isn't paying for the product. The consumer is paying the club for access to the premises where the cannabis is then donated. I would also suggest to said club to do as much outreach as possible and also educate your members on all things cannabis. It's a good look, especially as we try to establish our legal cannabis community.
