More Asem, Welcome to the community bud. Looking forward to your input. Enjoy your stay
  3. Thanks Trailblazer, good to see another grow using various light options. Im keen to see how your grow goes with the lighting you've mentioned. Im using a similar light configuration currently. Keep us posted
  4. Thanks bud, I haven't mentioned in this thread my set up. I have a fairly basic setup. My tent size is 1.2mX1.8mX.07m. My medium is organic (own mix) and my lighting is 400w digital ballast HID with air-cooled hood + a 180w LED multi spectrum as supplementary light. 1 x 30cm box fan and 1x 6"/15cm extraction fan with a passive intake. Im running lights on during the night and off during the day.
  5. If you really want it, you will bru. Shot!
  6. Thanks bru. At this point I wouldnt draw any conclusions on light types as yet. There are various factors that could influence the growth pattern of the various strains Im growing. On the right side indica dominant with a shorter flower time vs the left sativa dominant with a longer flower time will highly likely display different phenotypes. Not forgetting the quality of the LED. I am using the LED to supplement the HPS.
  7. Morning folks, Update - Flower Day 20. Have been feeding Biobizz, amino - and fulvic acids. Did a couple of rounds of Pyrol to keep them clean. So far so good, reduced the light to 10.5 hrs on, 13.5 hrs off. I did some heavy defoliation, maybe remove 25% leaves where all the bud spots are developing and also cleaned out at the bottom. Much better airflow as my circulating fan is at the bottom of the net angled upwards. Some good trichome action happening too. Some picture below.
  8. Welcome BestBuds, enjoy your stay. Im sure will learn alot here. Good luck
  9. The bins are open at the bottom. Its composting bin. Add you organic matter, carbon & nitrogen and some minerals to get a good balanced compost. The more you stir the quicker the composting happens. Personally I wont add the worms as you might hurt them in the stirring process. I would use the newly created compost and process it further in the worm farm.
  10. @kimcarsons yeah I know what you mean. I have started conservatively with defoliation and cleaning out under the net. Gradually getting more aggressive as the situation dictates. @ajcapetown, thanks bud. Im following the schedule. Weeks 1-2 11on, 13off Weeks 3-4 10.5on, 13.5off Weeks 5-6 10on, 14off Weeks 7-8 9.5on, 14off last few weeks 9on, 15off
  11. Thanks TrailBlazer, I try. I will start feeding them from next week onwards.
  12. Hi Guys, I thought Ill share this with you guys. There is a great initiative from the City of Cape Town. They distributing composting units free of charge. All units have been snatched up within 2 days. 5000 allocation. There will be another roll out in June 2016. Watch the press and their website for more info. I received my unit yesterday. yay
  13. Hi Guys, Update time. Flower day 10. I have been tucking and weaving daily. Started selective defoliating and slowly but surely cleaning out under the net. So far so good. Detected a few leaves with signs of mites. I will pyrol their asses over the next couple of days. Added an addition LED grow light to supplement the HID, will change over to HPS by the weekend. Some pictures below.
  14. Thanks TrailBlazer, from what I'm reading, it makes sense. I'll definitely try it out on my next hartvest.

    Hi

Hi TrailBlazer, welcome to the community bud, enjoy your stay
  16. Thanks AJ, I posted up some details of how I made my soil in the previous post. Yeah you right they gonna be a bit much in flower. I wasnt expecting this dense growth so soon. Ill thin out when cleaning under the net.
  17. Thanks admin. Nothing out of the ordinary. All info was sourced here on 420SA. I used a combination of Totemic's and GLO's recipes and added additional coco peat & perlite. I let it cook for about 9 months. My outdoor grow last summer was a big fail because I was over complicating things. Adding all kinds of stuff to the soil that just stressed the plants to much. This grow's approach, keep it simple and less is more approach. I will only react when the plants tell me to. So far so good, no bugs and pests (knock on wood).
  18. Hi Guys, I thought Ill share an interesting read, exploring the other side of the coin wrt Cannabis use. Article here
  19. Hey workhorse, welcome to the community bud. Enjoy your stay
  20. Happy 420 y'all, dont forget to have a toke at 16:20 today
  21. yeah 10 weeks from cutting. I might give the next grow a go on the hydro side. I work with numbers all day everyday. Just thinking of the PPM & EC readings I need to take puts me off it. Thats why I love organics so much. Put all the effort in the soil before hand and just grow.
  22. Another 10 days later. Going excellent IMO. No feeding as yet just dechlorinated water. Planning to flip at month end (Sunday) - It will be 10 weeks from clone. Im really happy with this lighting technique. Some pictures below.
  23. Hi Guys, There is a Cape Town Cannabis legalisation walk happening on the 7th May 2016 at 10am Here are more details on the event.
