Trimming for Humidity levels Gauteng/ Johannesburg
1000Hills Nursery replied to Greg's topic in Harvesting,Drying & Curing
@Greg The Sun is very bad for your harvested plants. For one it makes the buds brown and ugly. Ruins smell and taste. Then there are the chemical processes that don't take place... Get them out of the Sun and dry it in your house. Preferably complete darkness- 2 replies

Lockdown and Cannabis - You Be The Judge
1000Hills Nursery replied to Ill_Evan's topic in General Discussion
My prayers go out to those that have no more money to buy food to feed their families and no way of earning any income atm. The real worrying part of this lockdown for me is the amount of people that are 'not' on lockdown. I'm seeing lots of people still doing their own thing and not respecting social distancing at all. All this that we sacrificing, let's hope it's not for nothing. @Totemic I like the suggestion on planting some vegetables. -
@Zah Wk bru. You from durbs right, with the grow cupboard on your balcony. Well done on your 1st grow... Looks like you sorted for the extended lockdown. You got 2 choices from here. Harvest her now before any more sugar leaves turn yellow and ruin bag appeal or Try and take her a little longer so she ripens and hardens up a bit more excepting the yellow sugar leaves as part of the package. Both choices and you will be fine.

@Graham Welcome... You too late in the season for an outdoor grow. Unless you purchased some autos then you could possibly squeeze one to finish in winter location dependant. Indoors is a good option but costly even for a simple setup. If you can afford an indoor setup then you in the right place and we can help you with a shopping list.

@Dank Yeah the pool filter sand works like a bomb against gnats... the gnats are clever thou and start using the drainage holes for access. One issue with it is as the rootball starts to hold the medium in the pot all together the silica sand starts falling down the sides between the pot and the medium.

@Dank Good move with the flush. Looks like the Ph of the medium is off. Probably too acidic.

@Cyclone Welcome Many guys here successfully flower in tents with LEDs and will definitely be able to assist you. If you can dedicate a room to growing then with that budget you could build a small veg and flower garden all in one in one room.

Really slow flowering
1000Hills Nursery replied to Martyhouse's topic in Organic Growing - Growing in soil
You can flower outdoors year round in durbs. All you need is a little indoor 24hr veg area to spit them out and they flip regardless of time of the year. Autos are cool on the side. DM me when lockdown is lifted I'll hook you up with a few plants. Only condition would be a grow diary... a durban winter finish would be awesome -

Sup Bos Unfortunately I don't have a place to contain the breeding anymore, it's been used as an additional veg space for copies. I'm currently in the middle of harvest and should have everything chopped in about a week. Then it's clean up, sanitize and reset. Add another week to that before the plants flip. That would give me sufficient time to carry out the pollination and get rid of the male without compromising my sensi. -

1000Hills Nursery Project 2/2020 Pineapple Skunk x Safety Meeting 1 of the best plants from my current indoor run is a Pineapple skunk. So while I have a small window between reset and initiation I decided to carryout a quick breeding project. Here I have a small clone of the chosen pineapple skunk pheno and my watermelon male. I'm going smaller this time as I've found that one single cola produces 100s of seeds. These plants were vegged indoors under 24 hours light and then moved outdoors. Both have started flowering with the male leading the way. I have them seperated and will bring them together to do their thing just before the indoor gals start flowering. I'm excited to see how my boy packs on those clusters over the next few weeks as he was culled early in the last project and will get an extra few more weeks this time round. -

Update time... Gals are done doing their thing... bracts have dried and seeds literally falling out. Time for the chop. Slow outdoor dry. All in all I'm pretty pleased with the end results. I have some of the progeny in veg currently, will flip them in a few weeks and see what that Watermelon has passed down... -
I wait upto a week. Some sort of warmth does assist. Be patient with it and don't let the seed dry out. Whenever you do a few seeds in future it's better to include the paper towel method to your method. It helps the little taproot grow out it's shell and gets it ready to pop the surface once planted. All the best

I feel for all the stoners out there that need to do emergency stock up. To all those that are generally stocked, now's the time to share a little. With regards to lockdown... As a home grower, I'm use to being on lockdown and I'm use to self isolation already. I wish all on this forum and other fellow south africans all the best for the weeks to come. My prayers are with this country and for everyone to have a roof over their head and a plate of food to eat everyday. God speed... -

I'm very impressed with how well seeded these ladies are. Kept the best 60 of each. Temporarily stored the seeds with some rice. I'm gonna drop these beans in a few days. I would like to have 10 of each pop but we will take what we get. -

1000HILLS Nursery 2020 Project 1
1000Hills Nursery replied to 1000Hills Nursery's topic in Breeders's Forum
Okay back to the breeding... Let's start with a little more history. When it came to pollinating my amnesia and wedding cake cuts and trying to make sure nothing else gets seeded I decided to flip my male indoors and moved him outdoors to the opposite end of my property once flowering was initiated. I kept him around for a short while till he had lotsa clusters of pollen sacks all over. I then took the 2 ladies to him. Cut off his branches 1 at a time and gave them a nice spanking. Long story short because of this I have no idea how well seeded my ladies are besides the obvious visible seeds popping out of the calyxs. So today I stole a little top from each of the ladies to see how well seeded they are and how far along are the seeds. Left: Amnesia x Safety Meeting Right: Wedding Cake x Safety Meeting Safety Meeting: Electric Watermelon x 9lb Hammer -

@Ill_Evan Hey you back... Looking forward to seeing dwc in action again. Yeah scrog and dwc is tricky. That's why there's rdwc... that must be your next conversion. Having 1 small common reservoir outside your tent cuts the work load big time. Looking forward to seeing you knock this one out the park.- 135 replies

They did take some strain... But once the rain stopped and with a little bit of my help all was fine again. Just need tomorrow to be nice and sunny so things can dry up. Last thing I would want is buds rotting more especially my seeded gals.
