the ONLY BENEFIT that comes with using synthetics is mass production. (emphesis on the word BENEFIT) food farms upscaling to feed the masses however the world is over populated, so feeding the masses creates an even bigger problem.... so you're creating a problem by trying to solve a problem and it leaves the whole world with an even bigger problem? if, like Dr. Bruce stated, there is no difference in organics vs synthetics, perhaps it's cause he is too focussed on the fine detail to see the bigger picture. AND IF there is no difference, why support and promote the one with the more negative environmental impact and that encourages an even bigger global problem? do I need to go on??? -

lol, oh stop it another cool thing about organics is the longer you're into it the cheaper and easier it becomes till the point where the only input to your grow is the cost of electricity. and as we all know, solar power is the only reasonable future for us here in SA so we should be thinking about that anyway, for the whole house not just the grow. -

when you say airpots? you mean those black ones with the weird spikes?? bro have you noticed how theres a shit ton of material pots flooding the market right now??? those air pots are not the way to go brother...... what's pushing you away from the material pots and how did you land on airpots? those are gona give you more trouble than the autopots nute shcedules are not meant to be followed to a T, if you followed the Biobizz schedule your plant might catch fire, they call for waaaaaayyyy too many nutes. I look at nute schedules only for teetsy bits of guidance, very very minimal, when I think about what feed to give and how much, then I look at the plant. it helps to know the strength of the stuff you use, that's why I use biobizz. it's well reputed and straight forward to use. -

does this dude grow himself or he just works there? here's a little short story on how synthetic nutrients came into play I threw my synthetic nutes in the bin, only place for that stuff! I am not a commercial grower and I am not in it to cut corners, I am in it to grow good weed for myself. I don't have 1000 plants to look at all at the same time, so I can really focus on the needs of each individual plant. took me a while to realise the difference, but there's benefits in all aspects of growing organics, not only the end result. soooooo many benefits, but let me not keep singing songs about organics cause I know how offended people get when you don't allow them to figure it out by themselves. let's see how long it takes you to move over to organics with hand watering just because a pot with living soil and hand watering has been done since before christ it's seen as old and not cool and people are detered thinking "there must be better, easier ways to do this", but for real those egyptians figured it out man. reports of hydro/aquaponics go back thousands of years too, but when you look at the big picture every grower of every caliber has there "modern phase" where they dabble with all the cool new things, but sooner than you'd think they all turn back to the oldschool ways and all the modern equipment and other kak is just tossed to the side. or like me, it all hits the bin and you save the next person some time and school fees. even with commercial farming in the year 2022 where it's all modern you'll find a bigger number of organic farmers right now than you would've 10 years ago when synthetics was the conventional way. too many people have realised the difference that's why theres this universal shift happening at the moment. synthetics becoming a thing of the past. it was cool, but it wasn't better... synthetic nutes is the gimmick of cannabis growing, it's all marketing and attention grabbing. something new, something different, something cool, but that's about it. it has it's place in commercial farming, but even then it also has major downsides and a much more negative impact on the environment if you working on commercial scale you should be the first person to think about environmental impact... oh man.... there I go, singing songs of organics again! -

Hey bud, material pots with hand watering for indoor home growers are the way to go. autopots are like niche things. it's something different, it's something new with a group of ride-or-die followers, but nothing will ever beat the old school normal pot with hand water method. you'll be doing autopots for a while and soon find yourself running back to the grow shop for material pots to minimize the headaches. I've seen all kinds of questions surrounding autopots that make me ask, "but why?" so many componenets you never really know where the problem lies. the new aquavalves for organic feeding is nice, but I don't think organic nutrients itself should be mixed and left for more than 24hrs, otherwise you risk cultivating pathogens and unwanted bacteria. also organic nutrients interact with eachother and if left for too long and conditions allow it, you'll be brewing up some unwanted organic chemical reactions aswell causing PH/PPM swings just like with synthetics, since you got a reservoir feeding the autopots, the nutes go into water and not directly into the soil where it would have been buffered down to the right PH, what you got now is a organic situation that you have to measure ph and ppm with, so it's a cool concept, just not practical especially if you going after it to make less work for yourself. instead you'll be making more work for yourself. autopots work best with synthetic nutrients and even then you get build up. I ran synthetics through a big irrigation system. and I mean big.... 9 hectares of irrigation... after a year you cut open pipes and find salt build up. I don't even wana know what the pipes would have looked like if we ran organics. remember there's gona be times where the liquid inside the pipes aren't there, and that doesn't leave you with clean pipes, the residuals stay behind and dries up. this is where build up happens. with all irrigation systems. it's just much worse with organics than with synthetics. -
HOW. THE. FAQ. This has to be some sort of record man, I am thoroughly impressed, not that that means much, but seriously well done man!!

woah!!! also very excited to see what you been doing with those grow lights!!! -
Welcome @DesignatedDave I use KHCO3 too, love it, but for a long time Neem kept me safe. always good to spray more than one product over long periods of time so the PM in your area don't get time to build immunity to what it is you spraying. stick with spraying only the KHNO3 for long enough you'll have the same problem. for indoor growers maintaining low RH with adequate FAE and constant air movement also helps a lot with PM. if you work with plants or in a garden a lot, also good to change clothes or even take a shower before visiting the tent. a lot of stuff present in our indoor gardens is stuff we bring there ourselves. Excited to see what you do!!

If you want I can make it available at a local clone bank, they distribute cuts far and wide, this way many many more people get to give it a grow. It sounds like something the clone bank would be interrested in. You know of DaggaFarmacy? I wouldn't mind growing her out myself, but I got a shit load on my plate right now. good thing about connecting with a clone bank, you always know where to go get that same clone. -
cold weather can really slow things down hey, plants taking much longer to suck the soil dry so probably very little root activity going on right now.

Slowly but surely things are creeping in the cold, not much growth, but some changes I have decided to drop the Frosted Apricot, only exciting thing about my pheno is the way it looks. maybe I should try a different pheno, but since I got a heap of genetics to test out I grabbed the "next in line" trying to get 3 or 4 keepers out the bunch and drop the rest to make space for some seed batch pheno hunting. swopped the FA out with a Pineapple Chunk

a good way to explain why good terpenes are just as important as good resin production is the "entourage effect" when you smoke weed you're doing thousands of things, you're experiencing smells and those smells cause chemical reactions in your brain. when you out smelling perfume or flowers with the lady, there will be certain smells that excite you certain smells that make you wana throw up, certain smells that make you think of your gran, certain smells that make you think of a time when you where a child... all these are highs that we experience from the terpene profiles that perfumes have and when we smell it, it stimulates your senses. everything has a terpene profile, "terpenes" are fancy lingo for "smells" when you get a weed that stimulates your sense of smell, taste, visual and all that fancy stuff, then you get higher off it than the dude next to you who doesn't get stimulated off those same things. and it's never just one thing. it's like a million things. to find the right one for you is the fun of it all.

Well, you don't want the most potent weed that taste like You got good advice there, Prom will provide you with truth, the man got all the cheat codes for this game with this discussion we can look at the whole indoor VS outdoor thing. Outdoors = You got the clouds sometimes blocking the sun, you got birds flying through the air and potentially your plants, you got higher presense of all living things, you got all kinds of dust and shit covering your plant, some days you got strong winds other days no wind.... a bunch of minor things all contributing to a generally inconsistenct growing environment. Indoors = No clouds, no birds, less insect life, less dust, wind stays the same all season through, grower gets to easily manipulate environment to suit the plants needs. This directly translates to the difference in overall quality. the reason I put the "overall" there it doesn't mean increase in potency. sometimes you can make a fuckup and end up with something more potent, tastes or looks like shit, but has higher resin production than a plant grown in favourable conditions. to understand this, you need to know why a cannabis plant produces resin in the first place. they do it as a form of protection, this is why you can see the correlation between stronger lights = better resin production and vice versa, weak lights = weak resin production. let's look at torture test, when breeding and you finally got your new strain you wana stabilise, you gona start selfing that plant to lock in desired traits and everytime you get offspring you wana find the strongest, most prolific, pest and disease resistent plant amongst the new generation so you can carry those traits through, how do you find these traits? you grow the batch in unfavourable conditions. strong winds, never IPM and leave in a high RH area to check if it catches anything unwanted, too much light intensity and then too little light, all that shit you can do to stress the plant without killing it. through this kinda experiment you'll find a plant can produce more resin when stressed just the right way, but obviously not always and more ofthen than not you fuck up the plant in many other ways. so it's like I said, you don't want the most potent that taste like shit. you want everything environmentally to be perfect so you can get the full expression of the plants potential. you want the plant to express its terpenes to its fullest, this will make your weed way more enjoyable than just focussing on the potency.

in the same breath, how many of us has had incredible looking weed taste like nothing or worse, taste like plastic or just not a pleasant smoke at all? I've had quite a few, not sure if the growers fuck it up, but for example, I bought into the slurricane hype when it just popped up, thought I would smoke some before growing it.... I never grew it, smoked maybe 5 different slurricanes. now I know the hype couldn't be based only on looks... cause that's all I got from it. my mind tells me out of a batch of 100 seeds you gona find between 1 and 10 favourable phenos depending on how stable the strain is. the rest is poopoo even though it still got the looks. and unfortunately that's what most of us end up with... otherwise "phenohunting" wouldn't be such a big thing.

I remember buying weed from a friend he would always have a good laugh at me trying to pack all my buds nicely in the jars without damaging them, he would say "you gona smoke them before anyone gets to see them" then proceed to snap the biggest buds in small pieces and shoves it all in without care. so I just got more jars, fuck that irritated me sooo much these days it's out of the question, I got little time to waste and it's true, I smoke all my weed quicker than I can show it off or compare with friends and looks really mean so little when you start growing. I had a Sour Lemon OG by Emerald triangle, no bag appeal at all, very sativa-like looking, airy buds with a lot more sugar leaf than calyxes, not the frostiest... but for damn sure one of my more favourable smokes. got about 20g left and I am savouring it like I'll never get it again.
