I under stand were you are coming from. I only use rain water. Reuse my soil. Never had any issues.

This is the thing, when using rain water it's something specific to your situation. the vast majority of growers, especially new growers, get their water from the tap. with a small amount of those people using 3phase filters, if that. some people bubble their tap water. still not the same as rain water. If you wana make a point of how things work for you, you have to state the things that you do, that can literally flip the whole show on it's head.

anyhow, have a blessed sunday! 🍀

  2. well, there you go guys, to all the new growers, you don't need to buy probes, just let your plants stress then play guessing games and hope for the best 😅

personally I want to help others, not make them feel helpless cause they can't guess the right stuff.

if you know for yourself it took time for you to learn how to spot these things, why not just cut the loss of time off by using tools?

I'll respectfully stop giving advice as I can see there is no point. everyone should just have years of experience from day one. that makes more sense doesn't it.

    😉

    have a lekker sunday 🍀

  3. @SkunkPharm  that's pretty cool 😁

hope you don't run into the same issue as StonedTrooper in the future!

when talking organics, ph it's much less of an issue than ppm, though both can still swing.

if you keep using water with a ph of 1 or 10 (something way out) it's unlikely that any soil will maintain ph neutrality over long period of time. especially if you reusing soil. tap water here where I am comes out at 9 sometimes 10 and I have seen my living soil climb till about 8 ph and the plants did not like that. could've avoided it.

it's a good thing that you have a couple years of growing behind you. good to know the products you use and what product does what and all that stuff.... but the best of all is having the probes on hand, because not everyone has years of growing behind them and they don't know all the science on day one and having the probes makes it much easier to understand than just "taking someones word for it".

when studying this at universities the professor will give you probes to get accurate readings for the main purpose of "not having to take someones word for it" and to not play guessing games. hyrdo / organic. there's no harm in wanting to get the stuff right from day one instead of stressing a bunch of plants just to learn from that anyway. if a professor points to a plant and sais "that's what's going on in there, just take my word for it", I wouldn't go to that class anymore.

I've seen quite a few cases on the forum similar to my learning experience where probes would've saved these peoples grows in a jiff.

once they know what all the signs look like with no second guessing they can use the probes for their pools too! great device to have! 🤘

  4. the idea that people say don't test ppm or ph when you grow organic is redundant.

why would you "watch" and what would you "watch" for? you'll be looking for signs of things not being right. signs of stress in form of too much or too little PPM, right? or signs of stress from PH being out of whack..... sooooooo why would I wait to see signs on the plant if I can just test with a device that gives me the correct information with just a press of a button? and fix the problem before seeing the signs and before the plant has stressed at all?

    5 hours ago, Prom said:

If you grow, you need to know the plants lockout signs, which you learn by time.

if you have a good, accurate device it will help you not waste so much time and school fees.

first problem you run into you test and from there you golden. no guessing games. cause let's be honest, the sole fact that you said "which you learn by time" means you know no one will know the signs on day one. if you have a device you will. 😁

  5. yeah, I got the bluelabs toolbox long long ago finished the grow I was busy with at the time then moved over to organics most people will say that's stupid 🤦‍♂️ for a while I was bitter with having made the purchase, cause it wasn't cheap and hearing the majority of organic growers aks me why I would even need to test for PH or PPM, cause it's organic... right...? only to realise later on that they just showed me their level of understanding of the whole thing without thinking it through all the way, or they just haven't been doing it long enough to encounter all that can to wrong, in which case I am glad for them, but not everyone gets that lucky. Clearly there are going to be situations where even organic growers wana take the guessing out the game and test for both PH and PPM.

it's just safer to have access to these tools.

I have to advise against buying any kinda tech equipment and stuff that can "do everything in one" and rather go with tech equipment that's one thing made to do or test one specific thing. this will ensure better accuracy. This is just my :-2cents but tech things that can do it all tend to be more gimmick-like and don't stand the test of time. In the long run it's cheaper to buy more expensive stuff 💪

  6. Update

New batch moving into flower effortlessly, makes me think the fuckup with my previous batch was all due to the timing of topdressing. nothing else done differently and the fact that they moving into flower much much quicker than the previous batch tells me it's not environment related either.

  7. Update here, just finished off the Blueberry and Sugarcane outdoor ladies. I'm aware I posted photos of the Blueberry in another thread, but they belong on this thread and I know from my days of lurking these threads don't make no sense if you don't follow the conversations. so here they are, again,

  9. without a doubt that is the best advice to give a new grower, don't overlook this!

biggest mistake people make as new gardeners is thinking there will be only one product to do it all. if that was the case we would all be raving about this one product and when we have it we're successful gardeners and it's easy like that. if the world was made of cadbury.

gardening is one of those crafts where you literally never stop learning no matter who you are you never stop changing and adapting to overcome different things. even the most clued up guys with years and years and years of growing behind them are all still constantly researching different and better ways to do these things and how to keep up with current changes and what not. that's why they stay in the game so long. change, adapt, overcome.

avoid looking for and choosing one thing to carry you through it all, rather get the right mindset from the start and tell yourself you'll do research or run over to the forum here and ask for advice whenever a new situation presents itself.

like they say, I can talk till I am blue in the face, that doesn't mean you'll be drifting around tight corners on day one. at least not without getting a few fender benders. so be prepared. 😉

How long did you keep the inddor BHP in flower ?

this indoor flower cycle kicked off kinda wack, I top dressed the soil with elemental blend right when I flipped them to 12/12, within a few days they showed a very positive reaction and started stretching and didn't wana stop untill very late. the BBHP took 13 week, the outdoor one was much quicker with only 9 weeks, but it was also a much smaller plant.

the Sugarcane inside the tent only started making pistils during week 6 of 12/12, not sure if it was the elemental blend, still scratching my head on this one a bit. checked for light leaks and all that, everything is fine... only thing I could point out was how they just never stopped stretching, I think that was the nutrients 🤷‍♂️

Fantastic stuff! That Blueberry HP does look mighty fine :investigating

will be honest, she looks quite a bit better than the rest of the experience. she stank as a plant, had quite a sour under-ripe fruite smell with hidden notes of already processed hash but now that she's harvested the smell is very faint...

I hope she just needs a to spend some time curing to reveal her true beauty 🤓

Exactly the type of input I need sensei  🙂
I  feel like I may now remove my white belt and replace it a yellow belt  and i'm now worthy of proper seeds.

On a serious note thanks for the input, it makes encouragement and what you said makes totally sense.

Any recommendation on some seeds ? Being the zombie apocalypse type of guy I prefer to buy regular seeds with the possibility of getting a male which can be used to pollinate to make more.

just wana mention if you grow a clone it is the replica of the plant it came from, so people typically go for clones over seeds to guarentee a good phenotype.

with seeds there are greater chances of ending up with something you don't like, even if you grow a batch of seeds from a strain you like. in this case you buy a bunch of the seeds, enough to do something called a "pheno hunt". this is where you work your way through all the seeds and find the best one and go from there.

if you buy a pack of regulars and plan to breed, buy a pack of 10 or more seeds and be sure to find the best male and best female before crossing all willy nilly and making more work for yourself than anything else. if you birth a batch of 300 to 500 seeds and it's all just from the first male and female you could find, you gona spend a lot of time being dissapointed growing out 300 seeds just to find out none of it was worth the time or effort.

rather work on getting your hands on a female you like through finding the right clone, then get your hands on some regulars of something you also like and find the best male in the pack, then cross those two.

you can spend quite some time "pheno hunting" the batch of seeds from this breed. they'll be regular seeds again as you knocked up a female with a male.

if you wana make feminised seed you have to reverse a female.

If you just looking to have some fun and make some seeds then you can go on any of the local seed banks and get anything that sounds and looks nice to you. I see a lot of support for Trophy seeds. Look at Inhouse Genetics or Ethos Genetics stuff, but honestly there's a bunch and every second breeder has something crazy good.

    So Here's an update.

From the previous photo's you can see I planted 4, one of which was a male. Out of the 3 that was left one of them got overshadowed by these massive fan leafs and got stunted. Pulled her out and gave it to a friend. Not sure if its going to survive.

    Then I had 2 left.

1 of the 2 that was left was growing in a mixture of organic and coco/perlite medium. and the other just pure Coco/perlite. Never knew how much to feed the plant in organic mix, so I just kept feeding the same as the pure coco/perlite plant. It never shown any burns or deficiencies but neither did it bud propperly. Not sure why flowers were all over the show but didnt show any progress. So I moved her to the greenhouse outside.

Now I only have this one in the tent. Not sure if its doing well but it isnt exactly doing poorly either (To my untrained eye)

any comments ? I feel like the bud can be denser.

I dont know the strain its just bunch of left over seeds which came from a very seedy bud.

@Ponica take a moment to pat yourself on the back 😁 because this is proof you can grow a weed plant. now the next step is to get you to grow some good weed..

the chances of ending up with good weed when growing bag seeds or random seeds is a chance that is slim to none. respected breeders will not breed outdoors, indoor growers will isolate breeding projects, so having seeded indoor weed is either a mistake that was made during growing or somehow stray pollen got sucked into the flower tent. if it's outdoor seeded weed then it's up in the air with the parents. probably some ditch weed parents or some Uncle Piet down the road that don't know to pull out his males, and trust me you don't wana spend time growing a offspring that came from someones plant who doesn't yet know to pull out his males. if you put a super dank strain outdoors to flower and get seeds off it, it was pollinated by stray pollen and I wouldn't even suggest growing those out as it will be a waste of time, even though one of the parents was a super dank strain.

I would write this one up as completely experimental, because growing some random seeds you don't know what to expect of will not be a true testimony to your skills or the quality of your growing equipment.

that might be the best that the genetic could ever look but on the other side of the knife, it could also be the worst... you could only really guage that if you have something to reference it to.

my advice will be to get either some clones or some reputible seeds for future grows.

also stick to one medium for now. if you wana test a bunch of stuff, make sure you have a control measurment. for example, if you testing what soil works best you need to grow clones of the exact same plant in different soils so there's no phenotypical difference in the plants at least. if you wana test genetics and you wana pop different seeds to find the best phenotype, do it all in the same soil.... otherwise you getting a whole mix masala and you don't really get any true answers from your experiment.

I would suggest Freedom Farms Premium classic paired with Biobizz Grow, Fish & Bloom. + legit clones/seeds 🤘 you'll be gold.

  15. update overdue, been 3 weeks.

Blueberry Hashplant trimmed and in jars, came out to 75g, burping them daily, smells like.... some stinky weed.... doesn't smell like anything I can put my finger on, all I can say is it's good weed. got a clone of her in flower again, but will probably be the last time growing her. she made a few nice fat buds, rock hard, but could be denser. here's a few photos @Khakibos

@ORGANinc. what's good man, I remember you saying you keen to see what the Bodhi - BlueberryHP does, here she is - could be better I give her a 5 or maybe a 6 out of 10.....

here's the outdoor Blueberry Hashplant, this plant was 1/4 of the size of the indoor plant, so I didn't weigh her. gave her a budwash as she's been getting all sorts of dirt on her standing outside. don't know who of you have tested this, but there's no doubt in my mind that a budwash also speeds up the drying process. not that we want quicker drying, just something to take note of. if it doesn't make sense and seems counterintuitive, test it! you'll see 😉

  17. You've heard the old saying "I am not putting up any fights by practicing my rights"? classic example here.

1 hour ago, Chris Jay said:

cops are a law unto themselves and can change your life in a matter of minutes, regardless of the law or draft law.

I don't get this? this sounds as corrupt as it can get brother 😅 I hope you're not suggesting a cop can do whatever they feel like with me and base it on if they feel I was nice enough to them or not?

the law is the law, period.

a cop is not above the law and cannot write or change laws on a personal whim.

52 minutes ago, Chris Jay said:

Funny enough cops do listen if you are polite, experienced it myself a couple times.

we all got that sense of kill them with kindness, cause of doing this stuff since it was illegal, we've had many times interacted with police knowing full well we where breaking laws, in the past, and the only way you get to walk away a free man is to not put up a fight right away. so I get what you're saying here, but while both parties are well within their rights they both have equal ground to stand on. you're just a man talking to another man. not some kinda godly figure that gets to zap his mighty beam and change your fate regardless.

that thought shouldn't be tolerated and we shouldn't be telling our fellow growers they need to bend over and take it up the ass more than we have the last how many years, at some point we need to stand our ground and show these assholes we know a thing or two and we beat them at their own game.

cops are just people and they need to abide by the laws just as much as a civilian.

even more than civilians police should be held to a much higher standard because they're the ones reinforcing the laws. they can't be acting all willy nilly like they own the place, which sadly is whats happening and here is why... the opposite side of the spectrum is just as important, because being a push over and being too nice and lettling the police walk all over you is also not gona help at all.

we need to know our laws and practice our rights more often.

If I am not responding to a police officer that doesn't mean I am being rude to him, it just means I am practicing my right to silence.

again, I am not putting up any fights by practicing my rights

I will clearly state that and the reason for it is because of the level of corruption, I know that some cops have such fucking egos they actually do think they're above the law, in which case I will just open my mouth to let them know I am practicing my right to stay silent. which shouldn't be necessary because the cops know the laws and this should be a clear signal that a cop is trying to push you over to make you out to look bad even if your not.... this shit needs to stop! reading the room is important here.... by the time you have to announce that're practicing your right to stay silent is the same moment you should be working on getting lawyers involved because only an asshole cop that don't know what they should be doing will press you for information they don't need.

1 hour ago, Chris Jay said:

I am sure there are many people that would write about that and from an activism point of view it is important to share good information like this. Write an article about it.

Hell yeah, you're right, many many people wana read all about this. that's why they don't publish it..... the article was in the Paarl Post, not the Cape Times or any bigger news paper, the information on how the arrests wasn't successfull was already supressed, unlike the massive grow busts that get published all over cape town in 100 different articles.... I wonder why 😅

oh hey, I just realised hahahah it's because whenever theres a Win for the cannabis industry the people behind the information have to push real hard to get it out there while the losses and negative information gets rubbed in everyones faces..... almost like they trying to paint "dagga" as this evil plant...... same like they been doing for over a 1000 years...... now why would that be? hmmmmm 🤓

The case happened in the beginning of 2021 and the post was publishes in June, I think I missed the biscuit on sending Paarl Post any information that they'll be interested in on that one plus I am not involved with the whole thing and talking to people who where actually involved they did try to get the information out, but Paarl Post never took interest in that part of the story.

  18. for those who need legal support when the -shit for brains- police show up

    https://fieldsofgreenforall.org.za/stop-the-cops/

take a moment to study that shit guys, keep the help at the ready, keep yourselves safe.

    Support the legal movement! 🤘

cops show up at my house saying it smells like weed, I keep my mouth shut and wait for them to say something else. If that's all it is, I tell them thanks and go back in my house.

if they ask to enter my property, I keep my mouth shut and wait for them to say something else. if they don't present permits or warrents with something better than "suspicion because this house smells like weed" written on it then there is no case. No permits? No entry.

make the police aware you are backed by a legal team and if they have permits with valid reasons you have to let them in, if they arrest you for anything, let them. don't fight them. if you know you are within your rights, they will be the ones facing legal actions.

ANY AND ALL papers you are handed are NOT to be signed with any lawyers present. No paperwork gets done without any lawyers present.

if you don't have lawyers you get in touch with Fields Of Green For All and have a chat with them. don't wait for the police to be at your front door to then run around like a headless chicked trying to figure it out.

these arrests MUST be stopped, we need to get smart and make examples of these fucking asshole cops.

In the Natures Farmacy case 3 cops lost their jobs due to wrongful arrest, because someone spent a couple hours studying the legal framework. I bet that branch of SAPS will not be so quick to arrest again....

this article ends off with the co owner seeking legal action, I got the beef straight from the horses mouth, but I don't think an article was published on the 3 police men that had to look for new jobs. because who wants to push that narrative?

it's litetally up to us to break this bullshit narrative, some people on the forefront and have already won the legal battles, while the rest of us still sitting here scratching our heads trying to figure it out and scared to be locked up.

    hahah not me 🙃

I'm interested! What is the quickest yall have every flipped a plant, I've heard of 12/12 from seed, 2 week from seed? I'm contemplating on flipping sooner on a higher plant count, what has your experiences been, do you prefer a shorter or a longer veg? Or would you say it's strain depended

    what's good!

well, first I have to throw a question back at you, if you don't mind. what do you wana achieve? A different interesting way to grow weed? or to harvest more regularly to have more weed?

I feel small plants don't get to express themselves fully.

always have an extra clone or two, during this time of the year I throw them outside for some extra buds, the smaller plants all finish up before the buds are fully formed. maybe this will be different indoors, never done it indoors.

there are countless different interesting ways to do this grow thing, but when it comes down to it more often than not people will find themself reverting back to the most basic old school ways. for good reason and I think it speaks for itself. 😉

I also agree with having the plant big enough to atleast get a couple clones off before you send it to flower. if you wanted to do that whole perpetual sea of green thing you'll need to run a constant clone setup to provide you with enough clones to keep the flower space filled. which means you won't be able to achieve this by just having one setup. or you gona have to source a bunch of clones somewhere the whole time which is not ideal either.

in that case, if you looking at 2 setups for different purposes, I would suggest the trusty old school pererual grow where you veg a plat for at least 2 months before flowering her and using this 4 to 5 month period to fill your veg space again.. which is more than enough time.... by the time you finished flowering, your veg space should be full again and you just carry on flowering. and repeat

trust me, MUCH less physical labour and headache working with just a few bigger / medium sized plants rather than a whole bunch of small ones..

you could even do a higher plant count, but still at least veg them for around 7 weeks till they medium sized, just so they get to express themself and you get to clone them without cutting 50% or more off the plant.

    hope this helps!

I just assumed the Blueberry HP was Blueberry x 88G13HP but it's actually Blue Dream x 88G13HP - pretty interesting cross 😆

How was the resin production on this cut ?

    what's good my dude!

I'll throw up some bud shots when I start trimming her. 😉

I did not search this strain out, so I didn't know the lineage or anything like that, had to ask who the breeder was!

was given an option to grow out a clone for myself after smoking some of the flower, so I said why the hell not :-stoned

resin production looks on the heavier side, but still a bit ..... eh.... not the frostiest of strains, but still very frosty. I think what pushed me to grow her out was more the terpenes. I get great relief and upliftment from aromatherapy so to me the smells and tastes of stuff I injest sometimes can make me higher than the frostiest weed.

you've heard of the entourage effect? the concept makes sense to me, because if I smoke extracts I am super high for like 30min to an hour. when I smoke bud I am high for like 4hrs... there are so many chemicals in the rest of the plant that gets neglected, it's kinda wrong of us to look at the frost to decide how good the weed is.

kinda the same as where the relief and sedation comes from with CBD strains. you smoke that stuff you still feel high, but theres miniscule amounts of THC present. with that being said, I consciously avoid CBD strains, because I like to enjoy most psychoactive compounds. 👽

heres a small cut I had extra, I kept her outside so naturally she started flowering, snapped a few photos for you. being a very small plant and growing outdoors the expressions differ quite a lot to the one grown indoors, but just to give a rough idea..
