  1. hey man, that seems pretty cool. everyday we have a new service or product in the local cannabis market!

I feel this one is for the guys with a lot of limitations and a excess of cash.

If you're not really all that into learning how to have good success rates with your germination methods and you got $ laying around, this will really help. but I feel in most situations it will be better to pop your own seeds, even if you suck at it, it's a good time to learn something new.

especially with that price tag. if you wana pop a 5 pack you gotta pay R100 for each seed, that means R500 just to pop 5 seeds for me? DAMN 🤯

the very first plant i grew, complete bag seed... but it would have changed the world if i took cuttings

i enjoy weed to take the edge of traffic and stupid people in cars... and 99% of all the weed i have smoked chills me out and i can relax and not get pissed off with the 77th taxi cutting in the traffic.

anyways, this first plant i grew, was next level Sativa, it was so intense it did the opposite to my road chills... it made me wanna drive fast, made me wanna get home and do all my chores, finish them, look for more work, not find any, then go visit your neighbor to help them with their chores LOL it gave me energy like 10 redbulls.

to date, i have never smoked anything like it, and never felt those intense creative and energetic feels again from any weed.

so i definitely believe that there are strains out there that could be considered illicit substances LOL, but also believe strains react differently to each smoker and effects may vary a lot.

I WANT SOME OF THAT STUFF 😃😁

  3. going cheap is the most expensive thing you can do, a good rule of thumb in life but especially when it comes to lighting equipment for a indoor cannabis grow setup. I love that saying "paying your school fees" hahah you're lucky enough to be surrounded by a group of A++ candidates that will just let you copy the answers straight from their tests 😁

  4. added to that, unless you working with a pure to the core landrace strain that has never been crossed since its discovery (which is highly unlikely) out of a certain strain which will definitly be a hybrid you'll get an array of different phenos all with different indica/sativa leaning profiles.

saying a certain strain gives you energy is a bit vague...

once tested you could possibly say that a certain pheno of a certain strain with certain traits gives you energy, but you could quite literally get a super indica hybrid strain and you grow it out and the pheno you got is more sativa leaning.

now you've told someone that strain gives you energy, they get seeds and end up with a indica leaning pheno... this happens all the time and someone ends up with buds they're too pleased with cause they didn't get what their buddies promised them.

  5. I must add to this conversation that if it's energy I need I wouldn't look to weed 😅 I understand that we wana smoke all day and would just prefer not getting knocked down everytime we smoke, so here's how I see this cannabis that gives energy thing,

I am not sure if it's placebo or perhaps aromatherapy has a bigger impact on me than the smoking of, but terpenes can trick my mind into "thinking" I am smoking a sativa. If a limonene terp is present I feel lifted, same way citrus smell will have positive effect on your mental state. any terp typically associated with sativa gives me an uplift feeling.

I just cut my Sour Lemon OG, genetic from the Emerald Triangle....... 🤤 I shit you not as I was moving the plant from grow to hang I got a fucking citrus sting in my nose and my eyes teared up. Already feeling uplifted and energized in advance, don't even need to smoke it!!!

Buddy of mine grew a close to pure sativa thai strain, was a real long legged octopus shaped plant that grew all the way up past his HID 🤣 was the only plant I ever smoked that gave me energy that was noticable. I would still be high when the "energy" faded, like they say "anything that goes up must come down".

If I smoke heavy indica that's known to not give energy I can actually feel couch lock happening and my body becomes heavy and I feel highly motivated to sleep, but then again this could also be placebo, because of the general consensus around the words "indica" and "sativa".

  6. people also rave on about DP being alive and well still to this day and you can just simply find the exact genetics at every second seed bank and every one of them claim to be legit and backing it with stories of being directly linked to the founders or whatever may be the case, sadly it's all about marketing and selling seeds. being from south africa gives a lot of our locals the idea that we have original genetics right at our finger tips, while that is true to a certain extent we certainly will be last to get our hands on the legit shit with people like Mel Frank and other big names out there.

here is a video of Mel Frank himself talking bout the DP that gained the buzz back in the day, just a quick little youtube search, not going in too deep here, but listen to the first words he speaks in this video, this is very important to what we're discussing here... straight out the horse's mouth "I WISH I HAD THE ORIGINAL DURBAN POISON"... lol now if Mel Frank himself sais that, I am gona have a hard time believing some random Richard about the genetic being easy to find.

  7. @Weskush brother thanks for the motivated words of positiviy 😁🤘

just wana point out I am not being a sad sack feeling sorry for myself or trying to be negative with what I said about this topic so far. I wasn't trying to bring anyone down, I was simply being realistic and with a pure intent.

thanks for the video also, I have watched and read countless pieces of information on this very topic and I am sure the deeper you go the more you'll understand what I said here. that video being a good scratch at the surface yeah, didn't even take the prohibition era in account when talking bout how times changed everything.

  8. GREAT 🥳 you gona be fine those roots look good man

yip, listen go back to the guy at the grow shop who told you that plant is hungry and ask him if it was his first day at the job? Don't wana be mean but in that position you cannot be telling people that crazy stuff!!! 🤯

cannabis plants will grow 100% fine from the trace amount of nutrients in pure clean water for up to 2 months depending on strain before starting to become hungry. surely in a soil loaded with nutes this cannot be the case. but now that you got some FF it will be much easier to narrow down the situation. you got enough food in FF soil to last you a good while.

A few good rules to follow in a organic situation is "Rather too little than too much" and "Let your plant tell you she's dry and hungry then feed her, instead of overfeeding and then having to deal with root damage". lift the pots 😁

did you water them in with 5.8ph water?

with a living soil situation you gotta aim for the 5.5 to 5.9 range when the plant is young then you gradually raise the ph as the plant gets older never going over 6.5.

take ph readings once everythings mixed into the water already, then adjust if needed.

as mentioned the soil can buffer up from 4.5 or so, but I will try my best to keep it in range at this point. bring all these little things in check and you'll see your olant explode with new growth.

  9. I do have trust issues... aswell as faith issues 🤣

yeah all is said with good intent brother, thanks 😁

I know there are couple facilities out there that have been banking pure plant genetics through the years, but we're not getting our seeds from them.

Think about this, if there is a specific guy who has his hands on a genetic and been keeping it pure by genetic isolation and he knows that the whole world is looking for the strain, there is gona be 1 of 2 outcomes. 1 - he will protect it at all costs and will be almost impossible to get. 2 - he makes it available and everyone will have it.

this forum / thread is also a good example for how badly people want this strain. from all corners of the earth people are looking for it. I put the little bit of faith I can gather in the idea that someone probably has grown out a couple of the seeds from the place you talking about, which would be very plausible since they're for sale to anyone who can find their way to the website you just dropped a link to. and that crumbles my trust in the idea that they might have the real deal profile.

so much has happened and changed and time has passed that these days you will get a different strain, with a different lineage completely, but carries a profile more similar to the original skunk profile than the actual original skunk genetic profile that gained all the buzz back in the day. and we wouldn't even know it.

The grower/breeder of those strains is Todd McCormick, he is direct friends with Mel Frank mentioned in the cool IG post at the top of this topic. He is the man responsible for bringing skunk and a number of other strains to the European market in 80's, 90's. With Todds rep, experience, integrity, I think you will be dealing with the real deal.

    yeah, that's wild! 😬

the wild thing being that people who experienced the original skunk in the era it gained popularity are still around today and it is amongst them that the strain has gained this unicorn status, as they say, yet you're telling me anyone who has internet can just simply buy the strain today, order it online and it's gona be the exact thing everyone is buzzing on about?

I think there is a big gap in the discussion that is pretty key to the object here and that is the genetic profile.

I still carry my ancestors genetics, but I don't look the same as them or anything. Why is that? I guess, because of time basically, and that everything changes all the time. Environmental conditions trigger physiological morphology, the impact of human intervention and how it's surroundings and the longitude and latitude of the plants will all have an impact on its genetic profile and therefore on its future generations.

The genetic might still be somewhere, but that profile is lost. maybe through extensive phenohunting you might find something close, but sooooo many people have been hunting, crossing and back crossing, just to get a similar profile to the original skunk that was lost (this is why we have 1000 different breeders claiming they got something similar to the original skunk, every seed bank has a different one, because of this fact) that I don't feel confident enough in believing untill I've seen and smelled something that makes me think of a skunk and falls under description given by one of the real big time breeders. because I would have nothing else to "cross reference" it to anyway, it would just have to alter my mind itself.

  11. hmmm this is wild

there you guys go! looks like the legit shit is still around

well, once all grown out I would love to hear from the guys with the totally legit original skunk seeds how close to the real deal their genetics got? 😅

  12. what's gooooood 🤠

yeeeah that's a lock out from root damage

liking the lean towards the FF already, would be in your best interest to get a bag asap.

I am with @The Grass Baas on flushing them in the medium they're in to get the roots a bit stronger before repot. Here is why I would say, repot always comes with some shock and in this case it will be even more because when you repot them you're going to want to remove a lot of the current soil (bark in your rhizosphere will encourage pest and diseases, and I am affraid the bark isn't the only problem here, from what the plant is telling me it does not look like the right composition for cannabis really) and in doing so you will have to put your surgical hands on for a moment and make sure you do not damage a single root when removing the soil. To ensure a successful surgery you'll need to work with healthier stronger roots.

TWO LITTLE NB POINTS OF NOTE -

THE FLUSH NB: the area I am in I get water out the tap sitting steady at 8.5 to 9 ph, I cannot flush with that even though I am in a organic situation and people say "organic soil will buffer the ph for you" that doesn't mean I can pour 20L of 9ph water through 1L of growing medium and expect it to still be in the 5.8 - 6.2 range.... soooo just be aware of this! you know the ph of the water in your area?

THE DRAINAGE NB: if your medium gets waterlogged you might drown the baby, as it is a very very young plant and it is very easy to drown / dampen off the little ones, you may wana pay attention to your drainage. how long does the medium stay wet throughout the pot? maybe do a little testy test, grab same size pot, fill with soil and no plant, saturate the medium and see how long it dries out? if it takes longer than 5 days (in your tent, where you will be growing, not outside in the sun) then that means you got a waterlogging issue and flushing the girls in a medium that doesn't drain well will kill them quicker than they dying right now.

if that's the case, I'll say wait till they dried out completely, transplant right away into FF with no surgery, give just enough water for new medium to be moist (at this time the old medium should be dried out) and hope for the best. use some mycoroot when transplanting.

  13. was diagnosed in 2004 was put on some generic methylphenidate, didn't do shit. was sent to "focus classes" as a kid like being told I was stupid wasn't damage enough... was put on ritalin, nothing changed, was put on concerta, started taking the stuff for the fun of it cause I liked it, but never helped me focus. later on didn't have much interest in the stuff anymore and stopped taking even the recommended doses. I started smoking weed in 2008, but never helped me focus or anything like that. what it did help with is keeping me from bouncing off the walls and brought me closer to mushrooms which then got me behind the books and gave me a better focus.

so for weed helping with the adhd, I would say for me it defs helped with the hyperactiveness but not much with the focus. and if it wasn't for weed I'd probably still be chowing some sort of methylphenidate kak, which was the biggest help of all 😁

  14. how was the moisture in the pot with the younger plant?

do you only have the issue of the top layer being bone dry with the mature harvest ready plants?

if this is the case then it's perfectly normal. pots are same size one with more root mass will mean more water uptake which will cause the water/moisture to never move all the way up to the top of the pot. capilary action will be effected. where as a young plant with less roots will take longer to suck the medium dry and your capilary action will be closer to normal.

I would say if you wanted to test the capilary capabilities of your medium, rig a autopot with nothing but medium in it and see what you get?

other than that, if you say the F1 medium is right as is and you followed autopot instructions then maybe contact autopot people and tell them you done everything right and there's a design flaw in their product 😅

  15. Hi @MrE hope you got a real good deal on that tent 😬

I see you gona be flowering in there, just wana make sure you don't get light leaks from those open duct ports with the fans in them. Does the room the tent is in black out completely or are you doing something else to prevent light coming in there?

as for the hole, tape would probably work, you know the aluminium tape all the grow shops sell? use that to cover the hole from the inside. once done with this grow I would highly suggest getting it stitched to prevent further tearing on the seam. It's literally easy as pie, you could stitch it by hand if you know how to cross stitch. A kid could do it. If you know anyone with a sewing machine, even better. Will be a 2min job and save you a whole tent.

then the mold.... damn brother..... you don't think it would've served you better to clean the tent before bringing a plant over? I would take that tent outside in the warm sun and wash it down with every disinfectant I own a couple times over and I would let it stand for a few days to see if nothing grows again before bringing a plant in. especially a plant that's so close to flower and I can't really do many IPM treatments on her anymore.

  16. I don't think covering the top is our answer here, because it's not your lights or airflow that's causing the drying of the top medium, but rather a poor wicking if I am understanding correctly?

It was our good man @CreX who made a short threada while ago regarding this

Key words are "capilary action" maybe give this a looksee? you could research more, but it's a good starting point, because that seems to be where your problem lies.

maybe look into adding some peatmoss or good quality coco to your medium?

  17. hahahah there you get some convincing already! 😁 you know everyone uses it, how much more convincing do you need hahah yeah no honestly the biggest thing for me about FF is the consistency, I have tried a few different brands and I keep coming back to FF simply because each time the next best thing comes along everyone tries it untill someone runs into a hot batch or something, I've heard a lot of soils are more attractive breeding grounds for unwanted fungus gnats and soil dwellers that you dont want, specially with soils that contain bark.

    trust us, joooooiiin uuuuss 👽

I like what @donnob said, the difference in your yield wild be worth waaayy more than the R70

  18. only a pleasure 🤙

with the experimental plants being bag seed they might turn out male, so just keep an eye on that. best for them would be to wait till about 3 sets of true leaves then "pre-sex" them by placing them in a 12/12 light cycle to see what sex they are, males get culled females go back into veg with the rest. 😁

if you veg them till they big you gona waste space, time and money. unless you want a big male.

that 420mix, who makes it? Is it that 3sixty stuff? I haven't heard too much about it, but still would suggest going for FreedomFarms Premium Classic next time you buy for when you pot up.

with it being in a living soil I am assuming you gona go with organic nutrients? that Environoc was the right move, you added some microbes to the soil, they'll form a win win relationship with the roots of the plants and the soil. they "eat" organic compounds that the plant can't break down itself yet, and they "poop" out stuff your plant can uptake. basically...

now you gotta keep those little microbes alive by giving it more organic compounds, so stick to organic nutrients, they're rich in organic compounds. I would suggest biobizz with the added organic dry ammendment here and there.

hahahah ooh ok cool cool, I am seeing it as a perfect square in the photo, but I see now the pixels look a little distorted in some places 😅

have you any IPM in place brother? this is a must for any type of gardener.
