you got a thread on the banana hammock? I seem to have a awesome pheno here, no pest or diseases since day one. not very leafy at all and some of the better purple buds I have grown. decided to keep mine, but would like to see how yours did?
-
I also prefer the no dome once planted, once you put soil or any microbes, bacteria or pathogens (living stuff) in a dome with constant high RH and low FAE you basically creating a orgy zone for diseases. not to say if you keep your hand on it and start maybe spraying some fungicide and pestecide you may be able to achieve success, but I wouldn't risk it and who wants to spray stuff that will make the inside of your dome dirty then you gotta wash it or light gets blocked and you could possibly harm the younglings by spraying them with stuff that early.
-
looking good man those lines on the leaves are from leaf miners, not a big issue, but I would spray something to keep insect life at bay as you can now see your plant is favourable to insects
-
I literally quoted what you said, why would you even be looking for a screen?
-
this is what I mean...
-
I would say no dome once in solo cup, young plants actually do benefit from more moisture in the air, but you also don't wana risk any chance of PM, so atleast below 60% RH from when planted into solo cup with good airflow. but also keep above 30% RH, just for the benefit of the plant
-
I think is the main thing here, if you reeeeeeeeeaally don't wana touch the plants or do any training AND keep time to a minimal, that doesn't mean you MUST waste space. I mean you can, it's all up to you. why not just squeeze a 100 cuts or however much it takes to fill the space and make an actual S.O.G (not S.C.R.O.G) lol I mean, you could easily double your harvest. maybe even tripple. but hey, you do you

I believe he asked for a method, not what it means, mr. google search. "hardening off" can happen post root, but have you heard of a cutting loosing it's viability because you make 20 cuts and by the time you done the last one the first ones cut dried out already? so by placing them directly into water when the cut is still fresh allowing them to not dry out is more important in the "hardening off" process, because you won't even get to the point of having roots if you let the cuts dry out, which a quick first google search will not tell you.
-
with all that said, going back to the first statement, if you take cuts from a mom that's in bad health or you cut a weak spindly little branch you can have all the above in check, still won't get roots. Tip - the lower on the plant you take a cut the more auxins will be available in the cut as it is a hormone associated with plant body development and having it come from the lower part of the plant there will be more "root developing properties" to those hormones. So not always the tops and top branches that make the best cuttings.

@GGG what's up brother, hope all is well your side I believe the most important part of taking clones is the health of the mother plant aswell as where you take the cuts from the plant. with these two points, hardening off is out of the question. IMO, regarding your question, best thing for hardening off once rooted is to not pamper them like babies. my method is, pour a cup of RO water, take my cuts and take off any leaves and branches that would be taken off anyway. this exposes pathways for the plant to uptake water quicker than straight through the branch. just leave two fan leaves at top and one axillary bud atleast if not the apical meristem. once cutting is clean, cut a new fresh cut at base and make sure you cut through another axillary bud or 1mm below. as soon as fresh cut is made drop in RO water, let sit for 12hrs, this is harding off, then you got 12hrs to prep what you gona put them in. I prefer rockwool, soaked in RO aswell. after 12hrs I simply take the cuts and carefully slide them in their individual cubes and place them in my humidity dome. 99% rh and completely closed for atleast 24hrs. sometimes I like to let my whole dome sit in some water for the first 24hrs. then I start to gradually take the water away, slightly opening my dome little by little every day letting RH out. by day 7 you should be at 50% RH (everyday you should lift the dome atleast once for complete FAE and get rid of the water that has collected at the bottom and spray the dome with new fresh water) remember, the plant has no immune system and can't fend for itself for shit, so first sign of mold or any of that shit can hinder the rest of that plants life. there are wounds the pathogens and bacteria can enter, so keep it RO water. your plant doesn't need ANY form of nutrient during this time. day 6/7 you should have roots. when I see a root, I plant straight into ff premium classic and they go into my tent and I treat them like normal plants. no wasted time, money or effort. 95 - 100% success, no products used.

Indoor perpetual grow veg lights
Naughty.Psychonaut replied to The Grass Baas's topic in Indoor Growing
pleasure brother if wanting to save a few bucks and just looking to veg a few plants the floodlights that come in boxes that's for alternative use usually have a life span it has to fulfill and a year or 2 guarentee, just read the boxes. if it stops working in this time you just run in and grab a new one. tip, IP65 electronics are built weather proof and they last ages. you can literally mount them on a wall outside and they will work till you wana get rid of it. you just have to remember these are by no means grow lights and there will be 100 different ones on the shelf, you have to be sure to grab the right spectrum for veg. the plus side is that the wattage given on the box is usually more true (they range from 10w up) I usually suggest the 50w one as I have one myself, but I know the 150w one is most popular here on the forum. https://www.acdc.co.za/pages/product-individual -
Indoor perpetual grow veg lights

almost got excited now hahah there is a forum member who had one of these, lasted less than a month. they even look gimmicky if you ask me. I was at ACDC in somerset and they had a huge chicken wire bin in the middle of the store with these things tossed in there and a big sign with the low low price slapped on. can imagine they selling like hot cake. I am also not so sure that thing can be even close to 200w. -
any updates?

thanks man! well surely it helps a bunch when you already got a handle on breeding with plants! I assume you already had the space when working with peppers and this is key to doing a project like this and is what is keeping a lot of people from doing it. pretty cool you found a line to work with and invest in! with the poly hybrids you expect a bigger gene pool and a "new" set of different phenos and new traits to work with? or do I have this wrong? you still after a certain trait?

Hey @Totemic hope all is well your side! I would like to quickly guage a few personal stances and hopefully give myself and others some motivation. since before growing cannabis and other stuff I have always been intrigued by breeding for genetic isolation, seeing what you doing here and being able to follow along is like mining for charcoal for years and one day you lift the pickaxe and boom there's the shiney nugget of gold that just happens upon my way! really appreciate your time and effort man! So, if you don't mind me asking, here's what I would like to know. How long have you been doing this? When did you start taking cannabis growing serious and pushing your first harvest? How long did it take you to go from just growing to breeding? a guy I know been growing for 13 years and only now starting to think about breeding. he has done a few small breeding projects, but nothing really to write home about.

@Bos hahahah yeah fuck sounds like you got a full plate there!!! understandable! what area you in man? I could possibly gift you a colonised bag and all you have to do is poke a few holes, keep it in a well lit humid place with no direct sunlight, maybe spray a few squirts of tap water once or twice a day and watch them grow? let me know @PsyCLown indeed it is, constant new challenges and constant rewards!!! -
I seriously need to get a local drinking water analysis from the municipality but then, how do you believe what the paper sais is true? I wana measure it all myself, will get there, but for now I need to be as safe as possible and "have faith" lol. we fall under the Drakenstein municipality here in the valley of wine

a Different Kinda Indoor Growing 🍄

Why don't you try it brother? Believe it or not, I only been eating mushrooms for about a year now. "gourmet" ones that would be. I remember getting sick from eating one when I was a kid. never touched them again till I turned 15 and had a magic mushroom shoved in my hand. first mushroom I had since. only ones I at till the other day was magic, they obviously opened me up to EVERYTHING!!! my favourite is going foraging for edible mushrooms on mushrooms and having mushrooms for dinner. -
Some clarification plz
Naughty.Psychonaut replied to Newbie's question in General Questions & Answers
oooh outy hahah nice nice nice, where you at? cpt has nice outy, though A LOT of people are growing now and A LOT of people are selling and running around trying to get rich off their backyard bag seed buds. some, with emphesis on SOME of the rastas have good outdoor weed, then a community of good growers who do the rounds but don't sell,as they would say, "to the masses". best bet paying R150 for 10g outy in cpt is either some darker dense indica type mountain/valley grown wild outy seeded as hell, but get's you high as a fucking monkey and then puts you to sleep like a little baby full of milk and honey. or if you got connection you might have some DANK and we just don't know it! only way to know for sure. is to show us! -
thanks for the reply! what instrument you measure the chlorine ppm with? my tap water comes out at 0.0ec, will test ppm to be more sure. and 8.5 ph. when I put my feed in it brings down to 6.8/7. then I drop a small drop of ph down in 10L of feed. brings it to 6.0ish.
