@Bos hahahah yeah fuck sounds like you got a full plate there!!! understandable! what area you in man? I could possibly gift you a colonised bag and all you have to do is poke a few holes, keep it in a well lit humid place with no direct sunlight, maybe spray a few squirts of tap water once or twice a day and watch them grow? let me know @PsyCLown indeed it is, constant new challenges and constant rewards!!! -
I seriously need to get a local drinking water analysis from the municipality but then, how do you believe what the paper sais is true? I wana measure it all myself, will get there, but for now I need to be as safe as possible and "have faith" lol. we fall under the Drakenstein municipality here in the valley of wine

Why don't you try it brother? Believe it or not, I only been eating mushrooms for about a year now. "gourmet" ones that would be. I remember getting sick from eating one when I was a kid. never touched them again till I turned 15 and had a magic mushroom shoved in my hand. first mushroom I had since. only ones I at till the other day was magic, they obviously opened me up to EVERYTHING!!! my favourite is going foraging for edible mushrooms on mushrooms and having mushrooms for dinner. -
Some clarification plz
Naughty.Psychonaut replied to Newbie's question in General Questions & Answers
oooh outy hahah nice nice nice, where you at? cpt has nice outy, though A LOT of people are growing now and A LOT of people are selling and running around trying to get rich off their backyard bag seed buds. some, with emphesis on SOME of the rastas have good outdoor weed, then a community of good growers who do the rounds but don't sell,as they would say, "to the masses". best bet paying R150 for 10g outy in cpt is either some darker dense indica type mountain/valley grown wild outy seeded as hell, but get's you high as a fucking monkey and then puts you to sleep like a little baby full of milk and honey. or if you got connection you might have some DANK and we just don't know it! only way to know for sure. is to show us! -
thanks for the reply! what instrument you measure the chlorine ppm with? my tap water comes out at 0.0ec, will test ppm to be more sure. and 8.5 ph. when I put my feed in it brings down to 6.8/7. then I drop a small drop of ph down in 10L of feed. brings it to 6.0ish.
-
this is really good to know!!! when I hear "tap water" it's like an alarm goes off. "dechlorinate! dechlorinate! dechlorniate!" what the hell was that all about? why are people always talking bout dechlorinating your tap water for your cannabis plants? would you say it's just misinformation?
-
A bit of chlorine is a good thing? this is new to me could you explain? I know it's a good thing seeing mycelium ontop of your soil, but you do know if the mold grows faster and is more dominant than the plant it will consume the plant aswell?

BioNeem does not harm insects. It changes the composition of the plants enzymes, making the plant "taste bad" to insects. It's said that Neem increases your plants immune system and this helps the plant fend better for themself. the only "bad bugs" you get are the ones eating and breeding on your plants, so they'll be kept at bay, while other insects that are more predators of other insects and don't generally eat your plant are left unaffected. though, I have had a plants brix % tested throughout it's life and the Neem did not increase the % at all, though I am a thorough believer that it works at keeping the bud guys at bay. it's a prominent part of my IPM too. there certainly is a "too much" of a good thing here, though. I have burnt my plants with Neem, might have been too strong dose, but yeah be carefull of changing the compostion of your plant that much that it will be unfavourable to yourself. another noteworthy thing, Neem doesn't work THAAAT great with mold and diseases, in that regard having copper soap on hand will defs help when shit hits the fan. Aswell as having Pyrol on hand, because when you get lasy and don't spot bugs or mold spots right away, you grab the Pyrol. It will work better on infestation or infections. and trust me, don't matter how ontop of your game you are, you gona get hit with infestations. we all do.

I stopped brewing teas, might get into it again. I always try inoculate some microbes every week or two straight into the soil. I have seen the differece, although I cannot say which product works best. I got some biodyne at the moment. have used explogrow and various mycorrhizae products. -

what's up man! what exactly you aiming to do? It sounds like you wana know how to grow? if so you would need a few things and quite a bit of info. If you haven't done any research or haven't worked with mushrooms or with someone who's worked with them I would suggest doing some research on the broad spectrum of exotic mushroom cultivation. then you take from that what would work best for you, maybe start setting things up and getting resources together then we can talk again about where you need some help and what you need help to understand. the reason is, there are 3 phases of growing mushrooms, if you can spend money whole time you can get away with doing only 1 phase. if you wana save some money you have to do 2 of the phases and becomes more risky and you need more resources and knowledge. if you really wana not spend anything I gotta take you through the whole process of selecting a mushroom to clone and then doing tissue culture and all that. and with all these different things that need different resources you get different techniques of doing every second thing and it all depends on your given situation what environment you're working with what you need to do. so I really can't just "give you a few pointers", but if it was basics you looking for, what you see in the pics is mostly my grow room. Humidity is 85 - 95% at all times. Temperature 17-24°C all times. Good air circulation and what not. Also, almost every second mushroom want different environments, so if I wana switch to shiitake I have to change a few things. Shiitake actually prefers growing outside on solid hard wood. whole different story, but very fun back yard project. @Bos Indeed I have!!! chopped into strips, a heavy spoon of butter in the pan, salt, pepper and sweet white wine, cooked them till the edges became crispy. couldn't stop eating my lady and I split the 270g big boy, it was a whole meal by itself. pretty soon I will be growing these off nut tree wood -
if they're carrying the active compound (THC) you cannot legally sell them commercially. You can however get involved with Natures Farmacy that owns some kinda lisence to sell. low key, they are also not legit. here's whats interesting, I know a guy that wanted to become a grower for them, went through all the paperwork with a lawyer, got a warning that it's not all legal, but was encouraged by the lawyer to go ahead and do it, because of the current state and future of things cannabis related. the paperwork is just to keep things regulated and place most of the "risk" on them. becoming part of the movement to get things legal means at times we gona have to do some illegal stuff. If you aren't already making plans to get these gummies on the shelf, I would say make it so! You got my support brother!
-
also, I know my own level of ability. If I buy 10 seeds and only 1 germinate I will have a problem with the supplier, not that I would wana have them replace my seeds, it would just be a while for me to support them again. usually just takes some convincing through seeing others' experience with the bank if there is no convincing and everyone had a shit experience, support for the bank will naturally go down. if my situation was isolated and everyone got good germ rates, I will place fault on myself. the gamble of life. same situation when you stand face to face with the breeder and he hands you the seeds in original pack and gives you his word that they're viable. ultimately you still have 50/50 if it's gona pop or not depending on the legitimacy of the breeder it will determine his success aswell with myself and the seeds I've gotten. you even play this gamble buying seeds in a shop, which is possible here in western cape. Belville Stodels sell cannabis seeds. a commercial nursery. aswell as Paarl and Stellenbosch Natures Farmacy private clubs.

Dirty Hands Elemental Blend
Naughty.Psychonaut replied to Marzcanna's topic in Organic Growing - Growing in soil
Well, this was a rollercoaster ride of decision making for me hahahah so here's what I concluded I will be using the elemental blend to reamend about 90 - 100L of ff green bag for the 2021-22 outdoor season. Will be adding worm castings. if I look at the ingredients of the soil and buy them individually I am gona pay the same amount as just buying that amount of fresh new soil. reason is cause I can't buy per gram, so have to grab a whole bag in cases where I just need half or whatever. so it's a no brainer from here, if I don't try the elemental blend with worm castings, I will just grab fresh green bags -

dude thanks hahahah I am honestly greatful for this bit, might try coco again.. I think what I did here was over complicate things in my mind. it's very basic actually, but yeah I had it upside down inside out completely! let me see, 1. If there is a chance of build up it would generally be around the bottom of the pot not in random places in the medium or on the roots. 2. you can "flush out" old nutes with new nutrient water. 3. you shouldn't flush with 0.0ec water, cause that could shock your plant to "starvation" and then you have to "super feed it" and that's no good. 4. you should keep your coco wet so that it doesn't dry out, because dry soil with unused nutrient is where build up occurs. 5. you don't have to worry about letting your medium dry out because in coco roots move fast, the medium doesn't hold water aslong as it drains perfectly and they get enough oxygen because of this. I must say I've had a grow in coco turn out quite amazing, have no idea what I was doing lol! basically had all 5 those points backwards. smack me with a dead fish thanks again brother! -

had to wait to get off work so I can sit down and pay attention, I kinda get the jist of what you're saying, though I am now more puzzled than before... thanks for answering all these questions lol this is just some info that seemed hard to come by when I was growing in coco and now my mind is being blown! the picture you're drawing me is becoming more clear, but now I would like to know the following. let's look at your jelly making analogy, cause this first bit is more about coco and how it works with nutes let's take the plant out the medium, you just got a pot of coco. (assuming raised off the ground and got perfect drainage and everything, dries out perfect) you give water with nutes to it. now what you are saying is that when the medium has dried out all the water has left from the bottom of the pot and the nutes along with it, just simply because water naturally flows toward the earth? that the medium holds no nutes and it flows right through and if it wheren't for the plant making use of some of it you would get all the nutes back out the bottom of the pot? now put plant back in the picture you go on to say that saturating your medium with 5L at 500ppm is safer than giving 1L of 500ppm, because the 1L would not sink to the bottom and you would be left with ppm still in the medium by next feed. this statement and what was said with the jelly making analogy don't add up? you also say no cannabis plant will uptake 500ppm, well I mean.... if I have 1L at 500ppm, it doesn't mean the whole 1L is 500ppm, every drop of water has 500ppm, water can hold much more ppm than a plant could use, that's for sure, but once you pour that solution into your medium it fills the cation sites with nutes, the more you saturate the medium the more cation sites you fill. now concidering what you said about a plant not being able to uptake all the 500ppm wouldn't that mean saturating your medium with 500ppm be a higher risk of the plant not being able to uptake all 500ppm in all those cation sites? you did say no plant can uptake all 500ppm and by giving it 5L of 500ppm would be giving it more than you would with 1L of 500ppm, right? but, this leaves more nutes that are not being used by the plant. naturally, right? so you say those nutes just simply flow to the bottom of the pot because that's how nature works? and they get pushed out when the new nutes enter? none of the nutes dry out in the medium? all of the nutes that the plant don't use leaves out the bottom? I have some coco and synthetic nutes here, I will be doing some testing soon. gona make high EC water and pour into the medium then let it dry out and will pour in some low EC and test first drop of run off. according to what you're saying I should get a low EC reading cause salts don't build up in the medium? -

god damn,, good thing I moved away from coco then hahah yeah no, I see I see mr. @CreX and thanks for explaining! as I said at the beginning, it's more a question from my side as an organic grower, hopefully I asked something that might have been a problem for others too my understanding was that when you feed/feed/flush you kinda lean on the flush after the two feeds to get rid of the excess. so here's another question, if you guys don't mind? if you feed 1L at 500ppm and the medium goes to 500ppm (just as an example), does this mean if you water same medium with 5L ppm there are more nutes in the medium or about the same amount? because if it's the same amount I don't see any point in mixing 5L of nutes when 1L will do. that's wastefull. but you're saying giving new nutes pushes out old nutes. how does this work? do they signal to the nutes to make way for new ones? to my understanding, the plant can't make use of all 500ppm, like you said, now the medium dries out and can you imagine what happens with synthetic nutes when they dry up on a surface? this is what salt build up is, well to me. this burns the root, causes lock out. when you feed again with 500ppm you feeding a damaged root, it's not taking up nute, nute stays till soil dries out, forms more salt. and then, I also don't see how 1L of feed/feed/flush can lead to salt build up quicker than 5L of feed/feed/feed? that don't make no sence to your Old Uncle Naughty -
Hey brother, there are actually ways to make plants more resistant to diseases. carbohydrates in different forms of sugars. maybe @Totemic can give a few pointers here? although, I would say focus more on a weekly regime with Neem and AQSF. Neem will help curb the germination of mold spores on the leaves and stem. but the spores might be present the whole time, AQSF is living organism, if you buy this product keep it in the fridge. it's a parasite that feeds on powdery mildew, so spraying this will help kill off any of the spores that do make it to the leaves and try to germinate these two products and good environmental conditions, guarentee you be golden addon very important to grab a surfactant aswell to help the spread and uptake of the products sprayed any surfactant will do, aslong as it's nonionic. carries no metals or other minerals.

where are you based? try make contact with the Zetler Family, they own a bunch of strawberry farms and got into commercial cannabis growing here in the Western Cape. They're more focussed on the export of actual cannabis, so don't see anything about hemp. they might either be able to sort you out or help you go in the right direction. https://www.cannabiz-africa.com/first-legal-cannabis-export-in-sa/ you can find them by contacting the strawberry farms and setting up a meeting with one of the family members or what not. also, someone on here that might be able to help with this is @Chris Jay , you know of anyone?

just a question from a organic grower here, would he not be at risk for salt build up aswell? remember, the 5L he gives is feeding. the plant would not be able to use that much nutes and some would be left in the medium bu the time he gives again. and to my knowledge, watering till runoff with feed just means there are nutes being pissed away? so by overwatering, in any case synthetic or organic, risks are oxygen deprevation nutrient build up AND you pay for nutes you just pissing away? I don't see why we would just help the oak to understand that your roots should almost never be saturated. if it spends few hours of a day saturated it's fine, because it's drinking up some of that water. I would say, keeping it saturated over 12hrs would be testing the limits. I agree with this 100% only time to it's OK to see runoff with synthetic nutes is when you flush with clean ph'd water, to reduce the chances of salt build up? also, when you give clean water and in few days plat looks hungry, easier to feed. than to over feed the whole time then have to deal with a lock out issue. -

is this organic or synthetic grow? don't water untill medium is dry, oxygen is super important to your roots brother, lift the pot if it's got very little weight to it, only then water. and only enough water to bring the medium to field capacity, you really don't want any excessive water, IF organic NO runoff. IF synthetic you can have run off when you give pure water when you alternate between feeds. how big is that pot? looks like a 20L? I would give 1L at a time, if you have to water everyday then and that doesn't suit you, try 1.5L. I would really not go over 2L in a 20L pot, only when they big girls and in full flower I will perhaps give a 3L when they start drinking up the 3L in a days time. -
oh and brother, just before I forget, genetics has very little to nothing to do with pest and disease resistance. you can have 100 of the same cut and depending on the state of an individual one of those cuts they will differ. health wise. the fact that they are clones might be the very problem. you might have brought the pm in on one of the clones now the spores are just being blown around in there. a lot of people's clones get pm on them because in the time of rooting the plants immune system is compromised because of the heavy shock and is placed in high RH. the plant focuses first on making roots before it can even uptake any thing that would help with immune boost. chances to breed a mold is hiiiigh. bringing in clones from others' grow areas should always be seen as infected and treated as such. then placed under IPM with the rest.
