  1. Thinking of going with the normal High Porosity. I see now coco is more expensive than FF soil. Why though? I also saw this FF coco and perlite mix: https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/freedom-farms-coco-perlite-growing-medium/ I have some perlite to add so still going for the more expensive coco from Atami. I wanted to get the HM P200 due to the electrode being swapable. The following seem to be a good deal that includes a ec meter. Still have a lot of ghe trio so please check my grow journal in a month or two and help out there please.
  2. Gentlemen, i thank you all kindly. It's sad but its a fact. As you say, they're dying :( Next time I'm sticking to solo plant for full focus and keeping journal here. For now, I'm holding thumbs just to see these ladies through to the end. Also want to led diy but need to get growing first XD Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  3. Honestly have been dong research nonstop. The seeds im using now and will be using next are bought seeds. Next in line is cocopopo and royal wedding cake. I read so much on that site. On my first grow i felt like i was getting deficiencies and burn. Dark green tips with rusty yellow edges. Just feels like im catching it too late or getting more than one deficiency. Thanks for the info on the feeding as this was always a grey area for me. So full dosed ghe (as indicated on the bottle) should be fine in full on veg? Everywhere i read people said to never give full strength nutes as indicated... Just trying to sift trough all the information. Definitely going coco and nute next.
  4. Noob here agreeing fully. Maybe in 2 to 3 days? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  5. I'm over struggling. I added Atami to my cart and noticed it's slightly more expensive but convenient size. How important would a EC/TDM meter be at this stage? This is something i wasn't too keen on getting into. Would i rather get a cheapy than upgrade my ph pen? @Ill_Evan - im in the Northern Suburbs of Western Cape and hoping you're close-by :D. Else I'm practicing with bag seed XD. Another question... How does feeding work? Is it every 3rd water or only once a deficiency is spotted. I also see most people saying to half the dose of nutes (ghe) which i did with my previous grow however, my plants stayed miniature. I dont have the biggest setup but expected at least 100gs in the space (one day) 80*80 + TS1000 Much thanks again Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks a bunch for the comments and assistance! I did notice in the very early stages that my plants got N burn from the soil. Raised an eyebrow there but thought it's hot due to the soil lasting the full grow cycle :0. I used FF greenbag previously as my first grow and managed a harvest of 30gs. Poor but better than this 5 im looking at. Reason for wanting to use soil is that i do not have the space to flush. Currently growing in a store room without a water point (in or out). So i water by taking 5ls to the girls. Another question that came up is how dry my plants get. Well, pretty dry. I added the clay pallets to the top, trying to fight off gnats. Drying them out after the greening/yellowing started. How much water, approximately, will a plant need in a 20l pot? The ground beneath the pot seem to get wet after 1.5 - 2 liters. This is when i stop Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  7. With my first mid range grow attempt i thought I'd give 'just canabis' medium a try. You know, the easy start. Just add water right? Well look at the images attached thats giving it 6.5phed water, nothing else. I started thinking my ph pen could be a issue but friends seem to have great success with cheap ass ones. I have the plant!t one. So these are both autos Northern sky and blueberry. I think they flowered way too soon but i know nothing about autos. Had it on 20 hours light and 4 sleepy-time. Both are super light green with one weirdass dried leaf and the rest of the plans is lime green :/. The blueberry is dried everywhere eish. So thinking it could be N deficiency i gave it a tiny bit of ghe (grow, micro and bloom) mix and epson salts. My plants tend to be very small, must be something im missing... Disappointed that its not as easy as i thought with the soil since i thought if going straight coco but yeah. Some pointers on what i can try would be appreciated. I have two photoperiod seeds I'll try next. I was excited for the autos tho. Help me fill my tent with plant :P please
  8. Yo Check out BiltongAndBudz. Buy online collect in Somerset West. Here's mine Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  9. I wanted to share my first grow with bagseed :) Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  10. Long time but here's my update. It's quite the challenge getting them back with my inexperienced brain. So, i tried epson salts, extra potassium, added a dehumidifier. I flushed best I could and back to step 1 again. Eventually i just gave her the same nutrient mix as at the start. New growth exploded the next 3 says. Unfortunately she was shocked for a long time, me ending up in veg vir 10 weeks [emoji1783]. They're in flowering now and cannot wait to start again after harvest. Thanks all for the guidance. Learning is fun Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  11. Reporting back and things are looking bleak... So on 4June i gave both my ladies ¼epson salt per liter of water and flushed them best i could. I actually realized that I'm having difficulty saturating all the soil :/ . As if only the top gets wet even though is see runoff. I use a pressure sprayer. I haven't fed them since 4th. I noticed small root-like objects on the top soil so i topped her off with more soil and gave them a small amount of water with half strength micro as @Jimmy-z suggested. I'll keep monitoring and feeding pure water from now on [emoji58]. Scared of feeding more nutes. Anyway, here's some pics of them being sad, hopefully they're showing clearer signs of what the issue can be. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for this. Can not believe i didn't see this.... Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  13. Wow this forum is excellent! Extra note: i see the nutes the oak gave me are for soil except the micro, this is for hydro and the Formula i Followed For the First Few Feeds. omF!! Thanks for the info@Bospatrollie2, that explains quite a bit and understand way better now. @CreX - since this is an experiment to find my feet i'd like to try both suggestions but for obvious reasons tight on funds. I'll try skunkpharms suggestion on the plant thats still looking ok, hopefully payday. For the plant that needs help right now, heading to the shops to buy a packet of Epson salt right away. And definitely going to add milk [emoji848]. One question, do i give this feed properly till runoff and only once? One if the things i did wrong is feed with every watering (i probably Watered with pure Water every 5th Watering [emoji58]) omW!! I'll post here on their progress. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  14. @SkunkPharm@Bospatrollie2 Thanks for the reply guys Maybe let me just mention that both these plants are bagseeds. I wanted to get my first learnings without wastage. As you can see, i would've f#cked it! So i was looking for organic soil initially. The reason i thought it's not, is the fact that the hydro shop guy dropped the nutes in my hand with the purchase of the soil. He did some explaining but i was overwhelmed by the fact that I'm going balls deep, giving nutes and so on. I did notice that the soil already contains Nitrogen, postasium, phosphorus, Calcium and Magnesium but thought that it's too little for "from seed to harvest" grow, so added nutes. Please correct me if I'm wrong but General Hydroponics nutrients for soil and hydro are the same but the ratios differ? Really hope this is the case. I have been watering with ph'ed water with slight runoff (full runoff not ideal for where im growing) I'm not adding anything else and giving adequate time to dry Some more details: I grow in a 80*80*160 tent. Light is a TS1000 (not Mars but Hydro Depot) should be the same thing right? Nute mix from 3 waters back was 1.9 ml grow. 0.5ml micro, 1.9ml bloom, this to 2litres of water. I mix in a bit of kelp and ph it to 6.3 - 6.5. I dont have a EC meter. Experiencing a bit of a Humidity problem with my RH rising to 71% and dropping to 59% and very unsure what to do about it. My extraction is full blast, fan circulation should be ok (no oscilation though) and watered quite some time ago. I had a tomato plant in there but took it out now hoping i get humidity at most 63% Anyway I'll check out papaj's today and will give biobizz a go. For now I'll have to do with the +-350ml GH i bought as i spent quite a bit to get all the starting stuff. Is it not possible to flush and decrease my nutrients to a quater of what i'm using? Or will that not be enough... Thanks again! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  15. Hi I am new to growing and this is my first 'real' grow. I wanted to start out easy with a soil that doesn't need much, you know, just add water. This was not available so opted for freedom farms soil(green bag) and General Hydroponic nutes. So my nute ratios on 2l water are as follows: Grow-2ml Micro-0.6ml Bloom-2ml This as per bottle. Im in Veg Please see photos attached and help me out I have read (recently), to use half of the recommended amount. So could i have Nitrogen burn? But the veins on leafs look like a magnesium deficiency.... If it's magnesium, can i grind up some Dolomite to add with my watering? Also, is dolomite bought at Dischem ok? It is calcium and magnesium. If its nitrogen burn, must i flush? I've been watering with ph 6.3 water the last two waterings. I have another plant, fed the same batch of nutes but she looks fine accept for this one leaf. Last photo. This turned out to be a longer question than expected. Thanks for being interested to read all this :) Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  16. Hey guys Thanks for the advice thus far. I now understand that you need a serious amount of light in a small space. I'm convinced that i need a diy light and will get to that in the next year or two but for now i can't wait and need to get growing. I can get a 80x80tent with a Mars TS1000 until i have the components for my diy build. Would this be fine for this sized tent? I saw some heavy claims? I'm sure the coverage is more a 2,5'max but basically the best i could find for the price and thats in stock.
  17. Hi, thanks all for the feedback and suggestions. I was expecting one 200QB to cut it. Well, thank goodness i asked the question. @Cannabist, i would be very interested in building my own light. Not only for saving a few Rands but for the sake of DIY :). I could probably push a bit more cash into a light or start with a smaller tent (not that 80x80 would be much different i guess). @Cannabist,Im very interested in what you can get and what i can expect to fork over for something decent to grow the dank. reading through the provided manual to see I'll be able to. thanks again
  18. Hi All, Firstly happy Month of 420 This is my first post and was also interested in the Combo deal linked in original post. Thinking of making the purchase after lockdown. I did a bit of scrolling around on this forum and seems like members prefer Quantum Boards over this combo light. So decided to redo some pricing. I found the following 2 QBs which interests me but need some help as a new grower . I would like to buy efficiently if i would like to upgrade my tent in the near future. https://growopz.com/products/qb-130 https://growopz.com/products/qb-200 I was thinking something between these two lights will be optimal. Was hoping on not spending more than R3k on a light due to the other things i still need. My needs: I will be growing in a 1x1x2 tent and would like to get the dankest buds possible, or at least have the equipment to get there. Also would be great to expect something close to 100gs come harvest as harvest is usually only twice a year when using one tent if my understanding is correct. I wanted to care for one plant only but i'll probably stick 2-3 in there. @Ill_Evan, @PsyCLown - I'd appreciate your input Thanks for the assistance and hope this is not seen as thread highjacking
