  1. Based on what you are saying about your run-off it sounds like your drainage is ok as long as its not taking too long to drain. I wouldn't do anything dramatic, just continue your watering regiment as usual and monitor if the situation improves or not. I don't think your soil is lacking in nutrients. Maybe your seedling is just reacting to the shock of the fall. Maryjane is very hardy, I'm sure she will recover!
  2. When you watered previously, was your soil mix completely or close to dry? It could be that your seedling is drowning. Your JGS mix looks very low in perlite similar to my batch but it seems as if you have bigger chunks of wood in your mix when I compare it to mine. I would suggest that you only water once every 7 - 10 days or when your pots feel very light, compared to when you watered them. I tested the drainage of my soil before I started growing and realised that it had poor drainage. Yesterday I added more perlite and some Coco Compact Potting Soil to my JGS mix and drainage has improved dramatically. Today I transferred 3 Coco / Perlite plants which are together in 1 pot to my amended JGS mix. Now we wait and see. I'm sure that the more experienced members will be able to give you more accurate advice.
  3. I must add! It sounds like you are very fit! That was a lot of PT with a lot of weight you were carrying! I don't know if my faulty back will be able to handle that! So I wont be hiking to far up the mountain.
  4. Well done AS! Welcome to the group! The irony of your post is that I went today to go scout for some spots that I can do an outdoor guerilla grow! I have a few options Google Maps was a Big help. I cant fault anything wrong with your plan. I'm planning an Outdoor Guerilla Grow with soil only. I'm assuming you covered the basics regarding security, I've realised that I would prefer my plant in the open visible to see but not close enough to be identified. So it has to be well off the beaten path. I don't really wanted it hidden unless I find the right spot obviously! I'm planning 2- 3 hikes in due course. Please share if you have any tips on selecting an " outdoor venue" to host a "ladies only party". No Males allowed! On a more serious note, you have me even more inspired now that I'm not alone!
  5. I've been keeping my JGS mix moist but not drenched. Today I bought some perlite and also 20L Coco Compact Potting Soil (CCPS) from Megan at Hydroponic.co.za. I will be mixing it all together. I will be making small individual mixes straight into my pots instead of doing it altogether. The aim is to improve aeration of my JGS mix. Thereafter I will be adding AACT as suggested. So my question is what is the best ratio to use. I was thinking maybe 1 part JGS, 1 part Perlite, 1 part CCPS. Any and All opinions welcome!
  6. Well Done CK! Your cab is looking good! I've had similar issues with noise from my exhaust fan. I'm working on a "cab in box" solution where my grow cab will be in a larger cabinet which is also insulated.
  7. I was thinking how lucky you are that your autos are stretching:rastabanana So when will you be flowering your outdoor? Are you going to bring it back indoors or are you going to wait till next year?
  8. Is your plants still stretching? I don't have much experience with Autos but stretching is an unusual trait. Why don't u scrog your plant which will keep your plant low and bushy. What type of lights are you using?
  9. Jah Guide buddy! May you have many more healthy years! I'm lighting one for you right now.
  10. I started experiencing a number of issues from nute burn to N Def to mag Def which most likely meant I've been over watering. I'm holding back on the watering now and will see what transpires It looks like an overall problem with soil growing especially if you have been growing Hydro previously. I'm learning so much about growing in soil before I actually get started. I'm a bit of a perfectionist but very impatient. So growing in soil will be good for me.
  11. Thank @Toby Have a look at the above post on @Heisenberg's thread. We collected JGS on the same day from the same batch as Jamie confirmed. I'm trying to learn from any mistakes Heisenberg may have made regarding overwatering. I think I will follow your advice and then add a bag of perlite and maybe coco to help aeration and drainage.
  12. Jamie gave me very good service and offered to replace it with a fresh batch. :thumbups What do you guys think should I go for a fresh batch?
  13. This was the email response that I received from Jamie: How much water did you run through it? What I see is a common problem with people and my soil mix is over watering, especially people who are new to soil. Any soil can become saturated with water if you run enough water through. Orgasoilux has stayed the same ratios for 4 years now, they only things that are tweaked or added are nutrients and minerals. I have tested various ratios of substrates and found this to be the best. You did receive the exact same batch as the other customer on that day. I run 100Ls of soil mix at a time in a cement mixer that was purchased only for soil mixing, this is to ensure a thorough mixing of the soil. The perlite does become brown when mixed and this why it may look like there is less, but it is the same amount in every batch. I have many customers using the orgasoilux with no problems, and I also use the soil mix all the time so I have a hands on experience with how its working. I suggest easing up on watering and adding some mulch which helps to break the water up and spread it more evenly onto the soil. Most people are only watering once a week now in the cooler months. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions. He sent me another email shortly afterward: If you really feel you got a "bad batch" I will swop it for you no problem. But I do feel it is an over watering issue. Cheers
  14. It looks like a received a bad batch. I sent Jamie an email now with all the pictures to inform him of the drainage problems. Will keep you guys updated! Thank you all for your input!:thumbups
  15. I removed the Leca as you suggested @Toby. I filled the pot only enough to cover the holes on the side, which is about 7cm high. I allowed the water to drain into the AeroPlanter. Drainage was slightly better but it's still waterlogged after 15 minutes. Check out the picture with runoff on the soil in the AeroPlanter. It took about 5 minutes to sink into the soil but its still waterlogged like hell!
  16. Yes I actually started off with the pot standing on the pavers. Then I tried putting on the other soil. I also kept it suspended in the air but all to no avail.
  17. The pot I used had 3 rows of holes on the side (at the bottom) and many holes and a crack at the bottom of the pot. I added a little bit of leca at the bottom which is about 1 inch high. I placed the pot on top of the other JGS mix when I was watering.
  18. I need advice guys! Yesterday I potted up some of the JGS mix and tested the drainage by filling the pot with water. The soil stayed waterlogged for 20 - 30 minutes and there was very little perlite which usually floats to the top. When I look at Heisenberg's JGS mix that he collected on the same day, I notice that he has much more perlite in his mix. Do you think I should contact Jamie regarding this or should I go buy my own perlite to add to the mix? Note that I've seen no signs of the JGS mix even heating up and there is no change in smell either. Any advice will be appreciated.
  19. Whoop whoop!!! Thank you so much guys! I'm sure those nutrients will improve my growth as I prepare for flowering!
  20. Thank you for the gesture @Toby! I see you noticed that I need better nutrients than the cheap powder mix that I'm currently using! No doubt I really need those nutes!!!
  21. Congratulations to @GreenLeafOrganics for winning 1st Prize and to OTG & Toby for finishing on the "podium" Well done guys!:thumbups Your plan for a tie-breaker sounds good! Let's see what OTG decides!
