  1. This is interesting. As mentioned I know porcupines do it and a porcupine is a rodent. So your rodent guess is probably spot on. Plus I think I can see little teeth marks. Nice one.
  2. Watsup dude. Had a quick google. Pretty interesting. Whats your opinion on; lets say the plants are full on veg and youre feeding at 1.5ec. You use calmag/epsom salts, bring it up to the EC you have used with veg and then next watering back to normal feeding? So changing nutrients but not the EC.
  3. Thats actully crazy. Off the top of my head I cant think of anything besides a porcupine that debarks hope its not one. Would love to know what else could do this
  4. Gawd damn! Would love to know the total weight in the end too. Good job man.
  5. Hey @PsyCLown I see the flushing is not something you like too much....each to his own. Maybe one day it could benefit you too. So as I mentioned, if you run into problems would you flush. A clean watering with a nice runoff also helps. Also when you do tranplants, just to make sure your medium is nice and clean to begin with. So I have made many mistakes whilst growing and one of them is over feeding. Now forgive me if this is a noob error, but that is why we are here on the forums. To learn. So when I have made these feeding errors (sometimes life gets in the way, sometimes your mind is just not there) a flush has saved me on multiple occasions. I often see the same mistakes on this forum where people feed things that don't need feeding. So when something like that happens, a flush is ONE of the MANY options you have to address the issue. Sometimes if I feel there is a fuckup and can't seem to figure out what is wrong, a simple flush helps to get you back on track and start with a clean slate. So flushing is not to gain anything at all, rather to remove everything and start again When re-using coco it is recommended to wash the Coco and then buffer it again. This is a great way of recycling. KEY WORD is "recommended", not to be confused with "this is the only way". I have learnt and developed many tools over time on this here forum. Flushing is just one of the many that I could use if I run into trouble.
  6. Only a waste of time if you don't have a vacuum. When using coco I see there's alot of runoff with waterings and in a 20L pot 20%-30% runoff is quite abit. Flush only between cycles or repotting or problems.
  7. funny one bout the spraying..... I too use the 2 liter with the little hand pump on it. The bigger one with the wand is definitely better because you can get in underneath, as you mentioned. What I have seen in some videos is the guys use the big one with the pump and wand to water their pots. Especially pots that cannot be moved around. They just remove the misting spray nozzle and bam!! Water the plants in the back, no problem. Sure it is also alot easier to just move the pots out before watering, that way you get a feel for the weights of the pots when watered and not. But if you are under a scrog or have huge plants, option number two might help with watering. On a side note: one thing I have struggled with was removing runoff water. I used a towel in the beginning but if you're flushing its abit of a mission. I now know better and use the vacuum. I did not even know this but some vacuums can vacuum water. I know right.....mind blown. Use a syringe to measure the runoff and vacuum the rest (if you have a vacuum lying around).
  8. I use a 2 liter bottle when I treat my plants for mould and little critters etc. Must say the little cramp you talking about is not something that bothers me too much. Get some grip strength booooooiii. When a person is poor cramps don't mean shit . Ok but on a serious note. I have one of those 25l poison tank sprayer things (fumigator, the one with the wand) which make a super light mist. I wouldn't use it if you've used roundup in it before....well I wouldn't risk it.... Then the other option which works really well is, the hand held version of the hand pump sprayer. Both these options are super cheap. Anyway. Here is what I mean.
  9. Wow dude. Im not that big into foliar sprays but cant a normal spray bottel do the job? Maybe if you are doing a farm. https://www.takealot.com/mts-spray-500ml-trigger-41628/PLID70336857
  10. The NNNNIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! WOw dude. Now you have really hit a spot. . I practicaly grew up in cool runnings when I was very young. Once again the parents dragged us along. Have a lekker week
  11. @donnob hahaha. What a crazy small world. I was still so broke and couldn't get a golden circle ticket. Ended up getting one off a security guard for R50. Just in time for Seether too. I do totally remember the power outage on collective soul. I think it was still when they were playing shine. I might be wrong but that was looooong ago. Those were the days dude.
  12. @donnob I honestly dont remember your band. We were also in a band playing around pta with the kid of doom guys and bands like soil 7t7. We once got to open for soil7t7 at a show. What a fuckup but what fun. I really enjoyed 16stitch. I was lucky enough to go to coke fest in JHB when metallica was live with Collective Soul. Standing in the crowd I see these oaks that have dreadlocks and thought, this must be 16 stitch. I tap the guy on the shoulder, he turns around while taking a huge bong hit, in the middle of coke fest. I thought it was the funniest thing ever. Here is one of the coolest bands in SA down where I am watching metallica klapping a fat bong in the crowd.
  13. @Martin7318 Myyyyyyyyy man!!!!!!!!!! Cultured indeed. I was lucky enough to have parents that took me to these festivals. Last one I went to must've been 2009.....I think....If I recall I was also at the last woodstocks.....watched an epic Swedish band called Blindside. What a fucking show. These guys do fallout really well. Unfortunately I don't think I was at this one. Can just imagine what lekker fun it was there.
  14. @Martin7318 very nice dude. Good taste. Red Helen goes quite political. I like it. Alot. Never heard of them. When I was younger I used to go to alot of shows in Pta. Local bands like Pestroy, Wickhead, 16 Stitch, the Narrow, my Epic and more. Used to love going to oppikoppi and woodstock.
  15. @Martin7318 I totally agree. The 1st 5 albums parkway made was the best. After that I lost interest. But this is a problem with most bands.
  16. Holy fucking shit that is some of the roughest Metal Ive heard in my life . I also enjoy metal music quite abit but I tend to think my metal is alot easier on the ears. Heres a documentary about a bunch of surfers that started a metal band. Every single one of my friends never listened to metal until they watched this documentary. Quite strange, but I think as soon as they were able to relate to the metal surfers, then they started loving their music. Their songs play throughout the documentary so you kindof get a feel for them. One of my favorites over the last 5 to 10 years or so. I would recommend this to any rock or metal listener. Enjoy
  17. I just realized that I have been reading the measurements completely wrong all this time. I for some reason thought the buffering was per 10 litre and not 1 litre. So I am currently on day 11 of flowering. Still a slight deficiency (not major) but plants still growing fast. Would I be able to give them a flush with clean water, then buffer with the correct calmag for a day (1g/litre), then continue them on their feeding schedule into flowering?
  18. Hey dude. 50cm is not that far. Was just thinking of reducing possiblity of burn. Those plants are looking sad dude. Honestly reminds me of an early grow I did with a cheap soil that turned out hot. I agree with @GGG about getting FF premium classic. I would however still flush them and and let them recover. Then once they have recovered and grown some roots you can transplant to FF soil. They are still very small plants. They don't need too much in the early stages.
  19. Check on digikey.co.za. you will find the 1ft, 2ft and 4ft strips there. I checked and it is R600 delivery for anything under R2000 and free delivery for any orders over R2000.
  20. Hey man. I have made bad decision with soil too. Usually at the age your plants are now it might not necessarily be a deficiency but possibly a "hot" soil causing lockout. I would honestly take those plants outside in their little pots, take a hosepipe and run water through that soil (being careful to not remove or damage the plants in the soil). Basically try to wash any nutrients left behind. Flush it. Pour water through the soil and make sure you have a shitload of runoff. Some say 3x the volume of your pots. I would go more. Let them stay outside in the Sun abit to help dry the saturated soil abit. From there you can then start feeding once the plants have recovered. You can also raise your light to 50cm. I flower 30cm away from the tops. If you dont feel comfortable doing this to all your plants, maybe take one of the DS and flush them. See what happens. Good luck dude
  21. No worries man. I must add that they had great service after I paid with zero communication barriers. They are one of the few verified and top rated guys on Alibaba. Pretty sure it is a mine field out there with the rest. I am definitely not recommending Alibaba as a whole but just this one Gem.
  22. You oaks are funny. So here's the pics Import fees ^ Ordered 4 Aug and price ^ Item ^ Delivery date ^ Sorry, don't have better pictures of the setup. This is what he sent me. Wiring was extremely easy.
  23. Hey dude. Totally understand to support local guys. I however haven't had any issues with importing from the company I mentioned. Just to give you an idea: I ordered a 480w quantum board for a friend on the 4th of August. Yesterday (16 August) it arrived at his door. I cleared customs before it even landed in SA which helped alot to smoothen out the delivery. I rather mentioned this option as I have seen way too many cases, and even experienced it myself that some companies (not the ones you mentioned) will say they have local stock only for you to wait a month or two while they get as many orders as possible to reduce their delivery costs and increase their profit. I also don't see how asking someone else to build you a DIY project is any fun. Sure, if you do not have the know how or time, then it would make sense for someone to build you a custom light. But if you want to do a project or learn a new skill, it doesn't help paying someone else to do it. Note: The quantum board I ordered for a friend cost us just under R7000 (this is inclusive of shipping and import fees) I have seen the exact same board for almost R12000 in SA. You can find it with a quick google. I once bought a light from a local guy, waiting a whole month for it only to find out (on this forum) that I could've ordered it myself for half the price and half the wait. I hope no one else would have to go through the same shit I had to, and rather do it themselves. Importing is very easy once you know how to. None the less. If you don't like importing or DIY then there are plenty of people that can supply you with the light you want, at a small premium.
  24. Cool man. Which local supplier can you get it from? R3500 for 12 strips and driver, R700 for import. When I say Alibaba its not the same exact strips. Theres a company called kingbrite on alibaba that sells mostly samsung 301b or 301h diode lights. And they have many options of extra diodes like reds, uv, infrared etc. They have Quantum boards and Quantum bars ranging from 120w, 240w, 480w and 600w.
  25. @HooperHey dude. Mine is designed for a 4x4(1.2m) tent. The strips are 1120mm long so fit nicely. You only need 12 strips which give you roughly 650w but you use them at 75%, which gives you 480w, and then just the meanwell 480w driver. Both bought from digikey. To be honest... I think it would be alot cheaper, easier and probably quicker to order it online off Alibaba already built. But if you enjoy the journey and think you could do it for cheaper, then definitely do it. If you have most of the other smaller goodies, the skills and tools, then you could probably get away with a total between R5k-R5.5k
