  1. Hey bud. Sorry to hear about your bad luck run on the pesticide. Put that shit on the top shelf out of reach man. I'll be starting my run over the weekend. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  2. I'll name a few after you in dedication to your loss. Sorry about your logistical problem bud. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  3. What part of the world you at? If you Cape Town side I have some space for you. That way you can grow and visit your skelm on the side. I have 38 Durban Poison, 3 Strawberry Cheesecake and 1 Jack Berry I'll be moving into the shade house shortly. So I have space indoors and out. The reservation is about 30 minutes from Cape Town. 4. Hoezit@Pants. Are you gonna be doing your grow indoor or out. I've been held up due to logistical problems but will be starting my Bay Seeds shortly. I'm in two minds wether indoor or out. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  5. Cactus soil will be fine, succulents like well draining soil. Did you know it helps with stress and anxiety if chowed. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  6. I've been using Jack Berry outdoor home grow for 3 years now. Just completed my 1st indoor and judging from my early harvest pic I am convinced I was originally given what was stated on the pack. Anyway, I wake up, 4am, spliff, 6am, baby and wife wake up, spliff, 8am, start the day, spliff, you get the drift. I have a constant 'old war wound' back and neck pain, the moment I've been without spliff for a day or two, eina to the tenth. Jack Berry gives me a mellow high, brings out the creative juices in me, and no feeling doff or paranoid. And it really helps with my pain. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  7. Hey buds, life kinda took over hence the silence. I made the decision to reduce my plants to 4, 8 just seemed to much for the light coverage. Two happy rabbits and a parrot though. The remaining plants seemed to like the new arrangement but then again every parent will tell you how beautiful their baby is. Although I did get light burn of a sorts or a potassium deficiency more than likely. I had to harvest a week or so earlier than I wanted to due to lighting issues. Was not exactly happy but what can you do. All in all I'm happy with the outcome. Going into something you not familiar with and expecting low results sometime produces a bonus. My bonus: learnt a lot, thanks guys. ready for the next round. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  8. Hi there @Bay Seeds, you all well I hope. I would love to be involved with a little project with what would be 5 different grow styles, setup's and lights. I can imagine that's what a grow off will be like. Not sure if I would qualify though as it's only my first indoor grow I'll be done with in 2 weeks. I have a veg cabinet 700 x 500 x 900mm with a total of of 205w of cfl's. My flower cabinet is 900 x 900 x 1500mm using a QB75 bar from@growopz. I'll be adding 2 x 15w strips of can't remember now but it was the latest diode technology not far off Bridgelux. My grow height will be limited to 1000mm to allow for light adjustment. I use soil specially made for cuttings, seedling and grow, I do not use nutes as I can't afford them so I try and find natural ways of treating my plants and generally around our nursery. Borehole water 6.5 - 6.7pH. I will also be doing an outdoor grow under the elements and one in a shade house. Will you be donating ( gotta watch our words with new laws ) feminized or are they autos? What will the criteria be? I've been growing bag seed up to now, once again, can't afford decent seed. I was going to start a grow diary anyway and use the forum to steer me in the right direction in case someone spots me doing something wrong. I could have opted for a clone but I believe they not the best for training methods, I'm not saying they're not. Just what I read. Anyway, give it some thought. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  9. I got the earlier version of the QB75 and very happy. The bonus part is that as and when I can I will be adding more until I have 300w in my 1m x1m cabinet as I find the price affordable. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  10. Morning Bud. Have you checked out @Master_G and @growopz. I got super confused with all the options when researching lights. With guidance from the Peep's on the forum I ended up going the Growopz route and happy. Told the poor dude my grow space, what I had and my lousy budget and that I was considering diy. Soon got talked out of that. I now have a light that I can add onto as the budget allows. Good luck on your search. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks @growopz and.@TheUltimateNoob. I'm not gonna be fiddling or adjusting anything. Just learning a bit more about the light and spec's. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  12. Hey there all. Getting ready for my next cabinet grow. The outdoor grow should be easy judging from the last grow. I have a QB75 thanks to@growopz. I'm still learning the lingo and wondering if I'm understanding correctly. On the specs there's a minimum of 33.6w and a maximum of 85w. If I adjust the dial thingy on the power supply i adjust the wattage, correct. If so, why would I want to change it and how would I know what I'm setting the wattage at. I want to set up properly this time round and use the light efficiently. I'll be adding those 2 15w strips shortly, half way saving for the power supply. A couple of bucks here and a few bob there takes a while. Thanks in advance and have a chilled evening. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  13. Hey howzit@TheUltimateNoob. Sorry bud, just realized I've changed the topic of this thread, I'm sitting in a corner now with a spliff as punishment for the bad deed. I'll start a permaculture thread soon as there is only a row of corn at the moment. It's gonna be a long haul though. A year or two before the 7 canopy layer will be readish. Back to your built or bought, I would not know how to classify the [emoji274]. Gifted maybe. Sorry once again. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  14. Man that is a sore point. I had to stop doing that for now. Although the sun is out the temperature out here on the reservation is still freezing with the wind chill factor. Not to mention the strong gust's that blow every so often. Then in summer it's fcuk'ng hot, hence my outdoor grow is usually in a shade house. Busy setting up a permaculture area for a few plants that I hope will give them a bit of protection and natural nutrients from the surrounding herbs and plants. Waiting for the September full moon to plant the mother herb and in a year or two I should have a nice oasis with a stream running through in which to relax and enjoy a spliff. Exciting times. 15. Thanks buddy. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks for the info @1000Hills Nursery. That's a clever idea doubling the light as a veg matt. Am I correct in understanding that veg stage does not need a lot of light. I have 205w of cfl's in my veg cabinet, is that overkill? Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  17. Hey there bud, keeping well I hope. When you say the boards, is that the board the lights are attached to or the board including the light and what do you call it. I'm looking for a diy until I can upgrade and add to my QB75 bar through@growopz. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks Bud. Hope I'm not annoying you Peep's out there with the constant ' is this any good, can I use that' questions. I'll build you a house from the ground up but will not wire a single plug in that house. I am kak when it comes to electrics. But with the grow I've learnt more in the last 4 months than I have in my entire life. BIG SHOUT OUT TO YOU GUYS ON THE FORUM for that. I've started reading spec sheets and starting to understand some of what I'm looking at. When it says 9.6w/m does it mean if I use 2 meters I get 19.2w and if I use the 4m I end up with 38.4w. On some spec sheets I only see wattage at low numbers like 0.2w. Is that individual LED's so if there are say 10 LED's you end up with 2w. Appreciate all the help Bud's. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  19. Would a strip like this work while l'm saving up for my next@growopz light. I have a buddy with 4m laying around. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  20. How did I miss that. Probably got sidetracked checking out his lights. Gonna have to pay more attention when reading. Thanks. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks buddy. To much info is always good unless you discussing bedroom tactics. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  22. The workmanship and service from@growopz is what got me hooked on his product, don't think I'll be using other products and when I do diy upgrade it will be with his bar's. I'm trying to get my head around the science of a good light to better understand what I'm looking at. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  23. Aah, didn't fully understand that there are different types of chip's. Will have to read up on chip's next. Which direction do you lean towards when it comes to light's? Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  24. Hey Buds, you all good I take it. I'm set on my light and will be getting more to add on soon (ish). But what constitutes a good light. I've been reading up on various lights and each manufacturer claims theirs is leading edge LED's, best driver, fan cooled, air cooled,, the list goes on. I won't even go into all the letters of the alphabet that represent the light intensity. Some use Samsung, some us Bridgelux and others Osram. Is this a personal choice thing and why does everything seem to be imported. Do we not have equivalent's in SA or is it because technology has not caught up here yet. So what does one look for in the perfect light. Hope I'm not opening a can of worms here. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
  25. I'm busy researching, turning and prepping soil for a permaculture grow using herbs. Thought I'd experiment and see what happens. Will be putting 4 plants into the ground. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk
