  1. Yep, it was bound to happen. With the veggie/mother herb tyre stacks being a worm composting as well it has attracted a mole. Moles looove worms I've just read up. This area's soil is improving weekly now thanks to the worms spreading out. I've changed my mind. No more tyres. Not because of moles but I really don't want a fuck ton of tyres on the property to be honest. The other half of this area I'm gonna make no till raised beds (not very high) and I'm gonna be putting in worm farm towers. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  2. Planting impressive for that small space. And that pigeon looks like it's shitting itself. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  3. I think this is an Anastasia 99 autoflower. Nearing the end. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  4. Good luck. Holding thumbs. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  5. No filters. Some days it's like a Stephen King novel. Others, there are buck roaming the garden. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  6. 9am and still misty on the reservation. Sun shinning less than a km away. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  7. The roots in this seedling tray is crazy. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  8. Yeah. You need a pair and then some out here. Still 4 degrees here some mornings and boom 27 when the mist lifts. Enjoy coastal life boet. Heading to our beach hideaway in Britannia soon.
  9. So I'm just waiting on some more soil before I collect any more tyres. There are about 10 autos in tyres and in the ground for now. Still cold and very damp here, till 10am some days it's misty. Purple peas, black beans, tomatoes, mint, spuds and a chilli plant growing in the tyre garden as well. In ghe shade house autos at varies ages. They having a hard time but growing. I'll get into more detail later. Ran a test on some homegrown seedling soil from our landlady. 128 photoperiod seeds into a tray. 92% germination in 7 days. Thats 118 from 128. Will start the autos en mass mid October probably early November. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk
  10. Things are shak'n up on the reservation. No pics for short while. The kid was playing ball with a river rock and my phone/camera/connection with the outside world got in the way. Hopefully sort that out come end November. Tyre patch looking good. Variety of auto and photoperiod seedlings up then some peppers and veg on the go. In the shade house a few autos on the go and 3 photoperiod that I'm really hoping will reveg. Still holding on for the big plant. Cold and misty in the mornings.
  11. Chomping at the bit these little one's. I'm still prepping and these decided they happy in the compost/worm castings made by us. Went to a seed swop of a different kind today. Have loads of food to grow between the Mother Herbs in the tyre garden.
  12. Somebody stop me. Prepping another unutilized part of the garden.
  13. 7 days later and 100% germination on the Anastasia 99 autoflower feminized. True to form it has rained like a futhermucker every day since I planted these ladies.
  14. Anastasia 99 autoflower feminized pheno #4 courtesy of @Bay Seeds. Being the impatient git I am I've planted a few seeds in the shade house. 24 hours in the shot glass then less than 24 hours in paper towel and ready to rock and roll. 5 seeds in a 100l planter box. Soil in this box comes from a wholesale nursery up the road. Heard via the bush telegraph a few growers in the area are using it with good results. R25 for 40l trade price. Worth a try.
  15. First 10m windbreak is up. Another 30m to go. Started collecting and prepping tyre's. Bottom tyre is like a little compost/worm bin then I'll be filling the next tyre up with amended soil. Gonna be putting 32 of these tyre raised beds in the 20m x 10m area.
  16. All good advice and ideas . Composting and playing with soil is an ongoing thing on the reservation. Blue bins are cool but boy, they take a bit of time. I chuck kitchen scraps in my blue bin with some leaves raked up from a small yard. That then gets taken to one of 3 compost heaps. Then I have 3 very basic worm bins which I chuck in some compost and kitchen scraps and those wrigglers are multiplying at a rate leaving behind some nice castings. As for tyre's. Always going to be a tough one. I've decided to go that route though. Unfortunately they fall into the category 'free of charge laying around materials'. Started planting poles for the windbreak yesterday.
  17. Whohoo, some more local autoflower [emoji91] in the building. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  18. Time to start prepping soil. Sitting at 200l I think I'm gonna need a heap or six more.
  19. It's all a learning curve. Patience waiting for the correct time to plant outdoors is the name of the game. I make the mistake every year but then I'm an addict and impatient.
  20. I'm in two minds about using tyre's now. Thinking environment.
  21. Prep work in full swing. Worm bins coming along nicely and compost heap looking good. Spent the last few months clearing and leveling some ground next to the shade house then churning in some compost. 20m x 10m. Planting Fire Stick round the perimeter as part of a mole barrier. Will be using tyre's stacked two high as a raised bed with herbs and companion plants scattered around. Then a shade net sunk 500mm into ground as another mole barrier and 2m above ground as a wind break. Inside shade house I have 100l planter boxes that I'm almost done prepping. Mainly planting @Bay Seeds autoflower this season and then a variety of unknown photoperiod crosse's for my infusion projects.
  22. Short notice but my wife is heading into town tomorrow (Sunday). Milnerton market area. I can send some autoflower seeds if you need. Or we can arrange something over the next week or two. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  23. I'm finding out the hard way about growing autoflower during winter. I was expecting a tough ride but WOW man the last time I experienced a rough ride was a crash landing in a C130 back in the parabat days. My outdoor during the day and under lights during the night are also battling. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  24. Yep. Those wires are there for support against a number of things. Mainly my heavy hand when it comes to watering. I only use the spray bottle for now and aim at the base of the seedling. One squeeze to many and the seedling falls over. And then for wind and to prevent High Stress Training by my kid. He understands not to touch the wire. Bucket story Little hot house. Every little bit helps. Secure it somehow to prevent it sliding across your plant. Anticipate everything.
  25. Every now and again I Google that shit. Wouldn't know where to start and don't think it's cheap. Any consultants out there??
