  1. This grew out of the soil today. The husk still looks very enclosed. Any thoughts? I’m thinking of leaving it till morning in the hope of it being forced open naturally. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. All eight of my Dinafem seeds spouted! The last one took so long I assumed it was a dud, so I started germinating another one in case. Some of them look a bit ‘runty’ but I’ll give them a fair chance. I found a relevant topic on a growing forum about seed orientation. If they all succeed then I’ll just run 5 plants in the 5x5, and four in the 4x4. Since I only had 8 x Air Domes for my 8 pots, and since everyone is closed till early Jan, I had to get creative with a rice strainer and a flexible aquarium air ‘stone’ to make the 9th Air Dome. 3. Hi Skunk, where do you get your seeds from? Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hi Prom, that’s amazing. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I hope my seeds germinate. I’m in the process of germinating 8 x Dynafem Auto’s. My plan is as follows: Soak seeds for just 12hrs; Place them into prepped Jiffy Pellets in an incubation humidity dome; Let them germinate and move them in the Jiffy directly into the final medium (Freedom Farms F1). This way the tap root will not be at risk of possible damage, and the root will immediately have access to a decent medium in the Jiffy. Anyway I followed my plan and today I prepped the Jiffy’s and realised once I had the seeds out of the cups, that I didn’t know which way round to place the seeds in the Jiffy hole! Both ends looked the same, especially after soaking for over 12 hrs. So if the seed was placed upside-down then some of the roots might grow upwards out of the medium into air, considering the plan was to keep the jiffy’s in the dark. So after puzzling a bit I’ve decided to place a small screw-in LED light bulb high over the clear incubation dome in the hopes of giving the newly germinated seed some sense of which direction to grow in. There is around 10mm of F1 on top of the seeds at present. (So the light shouldn’t effect the seed adversely, right?) It might not be too late to get the send out and into paper towel... but I’m not keen to stress things out. Any opinions? Thanks guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Great thanks for the support guys. I will certainly be asking for advice soon and do updates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Formula 1 has coco & perlite in it, and then some organic stuff like worm castings which I suppose make it a hybrid between soil and coco. You still need to use salt based nutes with it (GHE floro). I was going to go coco perlite but it was suggested that the F1 offers more of a buffer for a noob grower. I’ll follow the recommended nute schedule but at 50% strength and keep an eye on the ladies. Thanks for the comments guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hi guys I’m prepping an indoors auto grow using Freedom Farms F1 (white bag with green writing). The instructions are not absolutely clear as to whether they refer to pre-planting prep or ongoing maintenance of the medium. Can anyone suggest what needs to be done to the medium Prior to planting germinated seeds? What PH should I aim for? Runoff EC? My last (and first) grow was in Coco and I don’t think the medium was “good to go” even though I was assured it would be. The instructions on the bag as follows: “Add growing medium to container. Plant and water thoroughly with a balanced salt based nutrient solution (EC=1.2). Allow soil to dry 75% before rehydrating soil with clean water (PH 5.5-6.2) Follow or modify the F1 nutrient schedule for follow up applications.” Their web site suggests alternating watering and feeding. I know Autos prefer light feedings so I’m edgy about the EC suggested (1.2) Might be worth mentioning I’ll be using Autopots with Airdomes for the grow, and T.A (GHE) Flora nutrient schedule for “Soil”, probably at 50% the recommended dosage. 9. Hi guys, new to this forum, and about to start 2nd grow. It’s so good to read about growing from a ZA perspective (metric system, same seasons, same kak challenges, same “Kiff” slang). I’m about to start my 2nd Auto grow, having made some mistakes in my first attempt. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I have a Meaco dehumidifier and it’s been running 24/7 for months, it sucks an incredible amount of moisture out of the grow room or drying room. I’ve attached a hose pipe to it’s outlet which runs to a 20l drum which I have to empty every 3 to 4 days! Probably the next biggest cost next to lights but so worth it. Anyway I tried to run it inside my 5x5 tent during my last grow and it didn’t work. Besides the space it took up, it also heats the air it expels, probably 2 or 3 degrees warmer than ambient. So it ended up super heating my tent so I moved it back out into the room and it worked perfectly. It also made the room a more pleasant, stable space to operate in.
