  1. I hear you brother, I've been there, tryna get that cal-mag ratio buffered at the right amount can be a pain, although i don't think i have ever over done it. Whats your ratio?
  2. You buffer for calcium and magnesium due to the exchange caution capacity, as it leaches on to it plus throw in leds and you could have a cal-mag issue. What I think they are saying is that syntactics and salt buildup could have a negative effect ( as I mentioned) there needs to be more studies done in labs to be able prove each side. This is why it organics vs syntactics. Atleast I know well whos growing syntactics here
  3. Fair enough. I agree with your statement, especially with "that flushing does not help with chemical taste" I do flush, when growing with coco and synthetics, more to fix a mistake in nutes (It does happen especially when trying different things and ways of growing). I do flash after every grow but out of preference, as i mentioned before unfortunately in my case, i have not noticed a significant difference in chemical taste, or a smoother smoke due to flash, perhaps I do get more of a whitish ash
  4. Fair enough, I don't think there is enough evidence out there to state either one is right. We have certain growers high up in community stating that you shouldn't reuse medium with synthetics and there's others saying that it's doesn't matter, we have those saying flush is a must, some say it doesn't have any benefits. I'm fully aware the difference between the two and how the plant uptakes it, as I said from the start I don't condemn synthetics, I've grown fully synthetic and organic aswel as Simi-organic. But to end this topic for me I will still continue with my beliefs until further studies prove otherwise
  5. My argument wasnt that flashing works or doesn't work, I've run many strains on a flush and no flush bases to able to say that for me, I do not notice a difference in either one, yet I do choose to flush everytime. My argument is should you reuse the same medium after synthetics? For health concerns in particular. We know that salts build up on the pots but not with organic, atleast not to my understanding because I have not seen that with organics. You wash the pots with the aid of other chemicals to help in removing those salts from synthetics? So with that said, it brings up anther question, do you than flush to remove the salt build up in the soil aswel, with plain water or/ and with the same agents you use to clean the pot? Or you skip flush all internally, for the believe that salts have no effect on anything ? In organics we know we do not need to flush, that's proven everytime we step outside our homes. So my question is, why the theory around the flash of synthetics? Why some manufacturers themselves put a flush period on their instructions? Can we trust synthetics to be safe for our health and has no effect both on the plant or the consumer? Why pharmaceutical companies lean more towards organic growing? I still use synthetics in my grows, there's a place for them, and for me it does come down to preference.
  6. Unfortunately I'm not the person to advise on edibles, but there's alot of members here who will. Welcome to the fam
  7. We can agree on this, there is no reason for any of us to be hostile, we all leaning towards one thing and that is to better understand our cultivars. Nothing wrong with discusstion, I apologize if I came out hostile aswell wasn't my mention. We are in an environment where people already judge us by what we do over misconception of our hobby or job that's its our duty to stand together as a community rather than divided.
  8. the one with 2k likes stating its a myth? I did, I always stand to be proven wrong. I don't mind being wrong, it's improves my knowledge of my craft the question do others do the same
  9. Check out Cannabis Lifestyle broadcast on YouTube, they cover alot, pigeons420, Mr grow it & Rob have already covered this in depth detail, if you really want to go into this and step out of your "confort zone" you will find it, you maybe also learn a few other things off this topic by doing the research for yourself.
  10. Let's just agree to disagree, I've been around this topic to many times alover, not just here on 420sa and have read all sorts of replies, people disagreing and agreeing, it tells me there's still alot of gray Matta around this topic. it's good to see the take on what the 420sa family have to say that's why I say highly debatable and that's why I choose these topics. I still stand by what Ive said, In 15 years I've done enough expermenting on my own, and theres alot of links suggesting otherwise. I do not only go by reading research, I believe in trying things out for yourself before giving an opinion. But the beauty of growing is everyone has their methods and beliefs and there isn't a right or wrong when it comes to growing and that's a FACT
  11. I think we are straying off topic, yes there's research stating that flush doesn't make a difference but people still swear by it, and yes we can reuse coco & soil after synthetics, I've done it before. Some say you clean the pots, I'd hope that you do, but is it an easy process? Is there liable prove that same salt build up doesn't stay in your medium? The flash research was done on flavour which there isn't enough evidence to state it does infact improve taste. We know that the plant is infact intaking those same salts you are trying to wash off the pot and you are also smoking those. The nature of flash to flash out salt biuld up makes sense, and there is research around stating you shouldn't reuse medium that's been used with synthetics, I go by what I've seen, your plant is uptaking those salts and that's a fact. If you feed grape juice a few hours before harvest and actually taste it in some strains (do the experiment first, this is also anther highly debateable topic) whos to say you are not smoking those salts?
  12. Lets talk logic than, you seem like a smart person with alot of experience. I'm sure you have used fabric pots with synthetics, what happens to the pots after harvest?
  13. I totally agree with you. Organic is the way it was intended to be grown. Also if we take how we need to flush after using synthetics and the fact we can't/shouldn't reuse the medium after harvest with synthetics, raised alot of red flags for me
  14. What I really want to do is a DWC run, haven't tried that yet but we have something called load shedding here, Its too risky
  15. I think we all agree on coco & synthetic for growth and dense, but I find its missing that flavour. So I agree with you
  16. Coco with synthetic is boss, I grew like that for a couple of years, how often do you feed? There was days I was feeding 3/4 times a day
  17. Oh no this topic again Yes its an ongoing debate between us growmies, but as I light up on a "Green Crack Fast" By HOB,and as I admire the "rainbow" on a clear sunny day woundering how is that even possible (could be dank) I suddenly had this question pop up in my head, organic or synthetic? Yes, we have heard this question before, but I want to know what the family here perfers and why When I started off I used synthetics, like most new growers. But as the years went by and my knowledge of our caltivators grew I eventually made the switch to organics, top dressing and weekly teas become a new thrill for me. The two biggest difference for me switching form synthetics to organics, was the pleasure of not having to mix nutes and the extra work behind it, I still PH even tho we know it's not needed in organics due to the natural buffers in the soil. The other difference I found was in terpene profile, the flavors seem to be abit profound. So less work more flavour seemed to be a win win for me. My only challenge than was to bring my favorite medium which was coco and bring the organic method to it, now, if we know how coco works and knowing that it doesn't hold on to much as much as soil does, my thought was "how was i going to keep a healthy microbial life in an insert medium"? Well that was actually alot simpler than I thought, but that's straying abit off topic . Now i think there's absolutely nothing wrong with synthetics, infact I believe they even have a purpose in organics to quickly fix deficiencies if the occur. They are also much easier for the new grower. For me organics suits my routine, I'm very busy during the week so being able to just water my medium and letting the microbes do all the work, "works" for me. But want to hear from the rest of family here, what do you prefer? Do you grow in organics or synthetics and why?
  18. Thank you for taking the time to find these names @Marijuana Seeds SA your efforts are appreciated
  19. Thank you for the kind words @Naughty.Psychonaut I believe as long as you doing something good for others without wanting or expecting anything in return, and doing it for a genuine cause, God will bless you tenfold
  20. Blue dream sure has some flavor to it, a beautiful plant aswel
