Some new editions to the family 4 out of 4 dream queens have hatched.Master Kush, Spumoni, Rosetta Stone, Garlic Sorbet and Green Crack.

I've started a side by side test with a few different sized plants. First up are the freshly potted clones. Both trays are identical plants and potting mix, I fed the plants with a sprinkle of ferts on top. One tray is getting water straight from the tap and the other is on de-chlorinated water. I used vitamin c to take the chlorine out instantly. 1000 mg is enough for 200 litres of tap water. These are the other ones that I chose for this side by side test.

Thanks for you help. I will have a read up through the thread you linked.

@The Grass Baas thanks for the reply. I appreciate your advice. I have a spare 150 W driver, so if I can find some more LED strips then I will build another identical light and that will push me up to 450 Watts over the veg area. Cheers dude

Thanks for the warning, I won't be buying any now. I was tempted to go for a couple of the 50 Watters to boost my veg lights. Do the ones from AC DC last for longer than a month?

Hello iGD. like you said, sometimes they start off with 3 cotyledons, but it does also happen while the plant grows. Single branches can show differing phyllotaxy and it can also grow out and the branches revert back to normal growth again. Hey Totemic, I didn't mean it as a diss against you, that's just my observation. I've got some of your fems growing too and I am enjoying watching this competition. I have seen it before with polyhybrid plants. Sometimes they self top and stay like dwarves, or they can stack up and produce better than average. Maybe there's an environmental trigger like the cold weather, or the hormones in kelpak that set it off? They are all looking really good, so far. I wonder what effect topping her will have. Any predictions?

That is called a whorled phylotaxy. I think that how you spell it.

They are looking great, do you turn the lights up as they flower?

This week's updates. Still vegging the two biggest, and the Buddha Cheese are still growing.I didn't water since the rains. Humidity has been up high, so the plants have been hungrier this week. I will give more 5 3 5 to the smallest ones, just a teaspoon for the 3 litre potsHigh humidity has been good for the root growth. The pheno hunt is still on. Seedlings are still alive Germination test on the new mixture.Happy growing everybody.

The point was that tap water doesn't harm soil bacteria, because my pots are full of life. I haven't got a clue what a chlorine deficiency looks like and its never crossed my mind.

Cloning a single mother to fill up a tent, cons?

If you want to grow in perpetuity then split the new veg tent into a mother/ cloning double story. -

@PsyCLown if you can keep the sea of green rolling it is very efficient. Especially when you can harvest every week and replace what you cut, straight away. -
Thanks, I was also surprised when I picked up the cube. It will be 3 weeks by tomorrow. I took the dome off after 1 week and then start with the foliars. I diluted a couple of drops of dip and root into a glass and let them soak it up for 10 minutes before they go into the Rockwool.

For the bugs I use neem oil and garlic alternately. I have that Spinosad too, but I only use it if there are thrips around. Clones get two seperate sprays of kelpak 0.5 ml and amino mix 0.25 ml while they are rooting. The bigger plants have had a single spray of fish mix and that was 2 ml per litre.

It says on the bag that you need to feed with your watering. Mix up some seeding strength ferts because you'll starve her with just plain water.

Some more stuff from an organic growers @ORGANinc. https://www.growerssecret.com/blog/chloride-for-a-plants-healthier-moments "More active, well fertilized plants have higher Cl-concentrations in their tissues. In general, tissue Cl- concentrations of <100 ppm, 100-500 ppm, and 500- 1000 ppm are considered deficient, intermediate, and toxic, respectively." Malted barley and chlorine could be a good combination. "Chloride is required for optimal enzyme activity of amylase, asparagine synthetase, and ATPase." I will do it. I can de chlorinate with vit c or humic acid. Which one would be better to use?

I am more concerned with the sodium chloride from the Coco bricks than the tap water. Some ferts contain chloride and I would avoid them for the same reason. Does anyone know what levels of chloride are toxic to cannabis? If I don't rinse out the Coco (2.2 EC) then the plants can look terrible and take weeks of nurturing before they start to improve. I did consider it, I'm in the city and the rain might be clean, but my roof isn't. It would be good to find out the ppm of Chlorine and how often they spray it.

I got it from here. https://www.capetown.gov.za/Family and home/residential-utility-services/residential-water-and-sanitation-services/water-quality I just used the website because it had a nice diagram and explanation. Chlorine is an essential micro nutrient, whether you are growing with or without chemical ferts. Water is treated with UV and chlorinated to kill e coli, but the municipal supply still has other life in it. The e coli may die but the biofilm remains alive. Chlorine isn't a disinfectant that kills everything. The most effective de-chlorinator is ascorbic acid. You wouldn't have to let the water sit at all. It works in an instant

I use it in my mix too. I put it in before the soil cooks down. I use 2 tablespoons per 100 litre batch. One of the enzymes will help to make the lime release its calcium into an available form. There are many benefits to using malted barley. I think it is. My Rockwool and Coco were soaked in tap waterThe clones are fed with tap water. 2 days after potting on

@PsyCLown Sorry, I meant 8 ppm of chlorine. My tap water is 0.2 EC and 7.2 pH In the malting house they germinate the seeds and then put in in an oven to halt the growth, before the tap root sprouts. It is loaded up to the gills with beneficial fungi and growth promoting enzymes. I got it from a brew supply store, in Belville. Unfortunately they closed down last year, though any brewery supplier will have it. This one is malted for pilsner lager, but you could use any of them.
-
@Naughty.Psychonaut https://www.cropnutrition.com/nutrient-knowledge/chlorine I think my water has 8 ppm, I don't let it stand overnight or adjust the pH.
-
@Pantshello, thanks for the comments. Humidity has been up to 80%, while it rains and I haven't watered these seedlings since transplant (about 10 days). That layer of fungi eventually forms a crust on top of the pot. The roots pull up and grow directly underneath the crust. @Naughty.Psychonauthi, thanks for the reply. Chlorine is an essential nutrient for plants, they need it in tiny amounts. There simply isn't enough chlorine in tap water, to do any harm to the soil life. These filaments start growing when I top dress with malted barley. From what I understand, the barley contains over 100 strains of beneficial fungi aswell as enzymes to support plant growth and suppress the harmful stuff like pythium.

I like your net that looks like its built to support a lot of weight. That website is full of good info. Every couple of years the author comes to sa to give courses on regenerative agriculture.
