Switched out the containers for smaller ones Replaced the nutrient water and PH balanced it to a PH of 6 after adding the nutrients (From various online sources PH 5.5 to 6.5 is ok therefore I opted to balance the PH in the middle of that) I followed this chart to the point by making use of a syringe rather than a measuring cup. But instead of following the Hydro/Coco chart I followed the Soil chart. Because based on what you guy are saying the nutrients levels are too high but according to the Tri Part chart its correct. I used the "Growing Column" So now the EC is now sitting at 1.37ec (Still higher what you recommended though) Should I not follow this chart then ? I trimmed out the old burnt leafs. Still light green but looks a little bit better. Could also be fooling my self because I trimmed the dead leafs. For the 3 small baby plants I followed the 1st column (Coco/Hydro) chart to see what will happen. Looks like weed needs much less nutrients then. I have always grown Peppers using my existing method flawlessly with DWC . Below is my Ghost Pepper in the same tent using the nutrient solution which seem to have caused issues with the weed plants. Leafs are massive and plant is in an excellent healthy condition so much so that it looks almost fake. It's also getting less light because its further down in the tent. (Pepper plants needs allot of sun)

The plant today.

So I got a PH pen today and calibrated it using the buffer powder that came it which I mixed with 250ml of battery water at exactly 25c. If I measure the distilled water it reads 7.01 PH which makes sense and seems to be calibrated. I was hoping the water quality was bad because then at least I had something to work with. But it all seems good. Below is my nutrient solutions readings. And below is the PPM (Pen which I bought first thinking it was a PH pen) What else could be wrong here ? Plant seems even worse today.

Thanks, The "PH" pen arrived. Only problem is it's not a PH pen, its a TDS/PPM/EC meter. Stupid mistake! Can it be used to measure nutrient levels ?

Hi Peeps. Please help me understand, what's up with my plants colors don't look right. I did some research and took some advice from this forum. Some advice not implemented yet because I'm waiting for my stuff to arrive from an online shop. I'm just using buckets with water and nutes. Plants are 1 week apart and the oldest plant is about 3 weeks old. The oldest plant bucket also has an air stone/airpump Water is not PH balanced , I just used normal tap water and have no idea what the PH is. I used the right amount of nutes but I think because of the PH ist not taking them in. I see a leaf with a slightly burnt tip. So maybe my nute ratio is not as right as I think it is. And FYI ,I dont know what strain these are. The rocks in the pics will go and I will replace them with LECA pebbles once my order arrived. PH kit is on the way along with the LECA. Later that dude with the red suit from the north pole will bring me a digital PH meter soon. From some research done online the plants seems to have not have enough calcium and magnesium ? I also raise the lights a little bit because of the curling on some of the leafs seems they are too close to the plants? The tent with a closed door sits at 31C , which I believe is a bit hot ? So I guess I need to ventilate it ? Some pics, Maybe they don't look all that great but Its definitely a step forward for me because my previous attempt didn't work out too well. Previous plant grew 3 finger leaves , at least now I have some 5 fingers. Hopefully soon they will look like real cannabis. For interest sake can I already identify their sex ? Baby steps!

Like phoning someone with a phone ?

My bad, I assumed that everyone knows plants cannot grow seeds without pollination.
-
I feel I dont know enough to fully commit. And the rocks is all I had at the time, I will most probably start over once I'm comfortable that I wont mess up some expensive seeds. Lesson learned on the rocks, someone also mentioned earlier on that its a bad idea due to fungus ect ect, I made a note of that . To be honest I do pickup a hint of hostileness (Not only from you) , But I dont think you are a doos. I only came here to learn and not to call people things. I much prefer to teach my self or maybe learn from the US forms/friends than having to defend my self over crap. , local is not always lekke it seems.

This plant was flowering and pollinated from the start before I moved it from outside soil into the tent (Hydropinic bucket). Its been out side for about 2 months and it auto flowered, I have a few other seeds from this plant which I plucked using tweezers that sprouted, some of them could have dropped when I plucked them. So yes quite possibly not dropped on their own as such but they are most definitely offsprings. I find it hard to understand why you would think this is a lie ? This plant was full of seeds, many of them sprouted and many of them didnt because the seeds were still green. How do these things grow in the wild ?, Are you saying they dont drop seeds at all ? Regarding the peppers Only advice I can give is. For super hots to sprout/grow you need stable and high temperatures, 30C to 32C , using coco coir in a coke bottle dome works for me.

Mmm, your confusion is confusing me Thats how plants work right ? Plant drop seed Seed touches water Seed sprout Seed become seedling ect ect ect cycle repeats

Update. She didn't die, I just took her out of her misery when I took the plant out it didn't form any new roots, some of the leave stayed green due to one long root that looked a bit on the dead side. I left the bucket inside the tent as is , but later to my surprise there were 3 seedlings which was dropped by the dead plant and they popped up in between the rocks. I lost one because when I tried to move the bucket to install the wood pedestal in the picture the rocks rolled and crushed one plant. Super angry at my self! rocks = bad idea! Made some changes to the lights. One of the silver 100watt LED lamps failed, so I replaced, the LEDs with 2 x 50watt Red/Blue COBs and added 2 more 50 watt normal outdoor 6500K Flood lights. They seem do be doing OK. From the start of it all I had this Ghost pepper in there as well and its looks healthy.

Thanks I was thinking maybe I need to move the lights closer, I may have to extend the earth a little to make it go down a bit. I think they may be auto flowers because I did not have to do anything special to make them start flowering. I planted them somewhere in September this year. I'm also sure its a poor quality strain. I just discovered the other male plants I have outside isn't actually males. I thought they had sacs , but I grabbed one with some tweezers and the sac had a seed in it ? WTF ? Ther's no sign of flowers. It literally looks like a male , Is it possible ? Will post a pic tomorrow.

Not that much, NodeMCU ESP9266/32 cost around R200 or R90 if you buy just the chip without USB (Not recommended) Relays are also cheap im guessing about 20 buck a piece for 5V/10A Add some wires and enclosure. So the ability to control remotely is kind of the basis and what the platform was designed to do in the first place . Scheduling is just a feature on top of it. The light sensor is handy to know when the lights are actually on or off. Had a look at some PPFD sensors. Seem like they go for around 200 bucks. Will look a bit more into it.

Hey, Thought I'd share what I built. Over time I developed an IOT platform which allow people to register and integrate their micro controllers over HTTP/MQTT Turns out it works great for my grow tent. Using this platform I created this custom light controller which can control up to 4 10A lamps over MQTT. At the back there is a toggle switch which will toggle between online and off line mode. In offline mode the knob in front controls the 4 channels, all the way to the left is off and the more you dial it to the right the more LEDs comes on 50watt at a time. Enclosure was 3d printed. When in online mode it connects via MQTT to https:// Littlenodes.com you can create sensors and switches , I also added integration with Alexa in the form of a virtual button which can be triggered via a URL, Which in turn triggers an alexa routine. So if you have a sensor and any of the parameters goes out of range it can trigger alexa to say something like "Warning temperature sensor out of range!" And a little sensor box that measure lux, temp and humidity. And to top it off a dynamic image that will show live readings in my tent. So when ever you refresh this page it will show live readings updated to 1min ago. Bit over the top and maybe a little bit gimmicky but hey!

Outside lady and what I have in the tent By the way why does my signature not show. Is it maybe because I don't have the rep ? I developed my own light controller using an ESP8266 that will manage the light schedule and I have some sensors in the back of the tent that measure lux, temp and humidity and the sensor is linked to an auto generated Image showing the output which I put in my signature. Supposed to look like this. The below is live and its updating every 1 min so when ever you refresh this page the below image will have the latest reading.

Thanks for the responses. Clearly I don't know what I'm doing here Guess this is how you learn. Once before I grew a carolina reaper the same way but from seed with great success. (Outside not in a tent) I didnt check the PH, but Im very sure I followed the nutes instructions to the point. The nutrient table is quite comprehensive and give the right amounts for various growth stages. It is the first time I'm using this brand though. Yes the rocks are from my garden and I even had to pick some ants off the plant with tweezers. I will keep it going to see what will happen. In the tent I also have a male plant with the hope that it will pollinate the one in the pic. By the way I have no idea what type plant it is. I got the seeds from someone and simply planted them. This is also just an experiment because I don't know if the light I have is worthy of anything. So if the plant dies its not the end of the world. I have another one outside which is much bigger than this one so it was already stunted from the start. The aim is to try an make this one surpass the healthy one outside. Thanks for the advice ! Lets see what happens.

I recently got a grow tent and on sunday afternoon I moved one of my plants from outside into my grow tent. The plant used to be in soil. I carefully washed off the soil and placed it in a 20L kratky system.I have 4 x 50watt full spectrum elcheapo lights running on a 18/6 schedule. Since sunday the plant deteriorated, not sure what's wrong. Seeing everything is a new setup, problem can be all over the place. Plant seems wilted and some leaves are yellow and and hard to pluck , they dont come off easily so it does not seem like the usual shedding. any advice?
