They are basically lenses that are just covers for the Vero 29s I'll post pics once I have them. I am just worried that 3x Vero 29's in my cab is overkill lol

I'm really surprised the TDS and pH are so low. Where about is the spring - are there lots of people who get water there?

Hi Don't be alarmed the site is a bit slow but the guys are alive I promise. Care to give us some more info on your grows or potential grows?
-
Yeah they have BioBizz and EH Check there they might have the sockets for CFLs too. Never been there but their website has all the info
-
I second this, a washing machine you say?? Pics!
-
Hi! What strains are you getting in? Are you going to build a bit more of a setup or use your current system?
-
Do they have no effect at all?
-
This site is definitely slow, but that is not a bad thing. Its quality over quantity. I am active on a lot of forums where you can't even keep up with the hourly posts and I prefer smaller more community based websites like these. You are free to post on international and national, but you won't find a sense of community on the bigger and international boards. Just my 2c.

Looking good, following this one!

Hey dude, sorry I have been away. Yeah I was thinking of adding another, larger box depending on how my first grow goes. I have some optics to cover the actual cob, but it is the ones for the Veros just so that I wont have to worry about something touching it and blowing it. Planning to start in August - I need to get my hands on some seeds still. I need to drill the ventilation into my cab too.

@narnia Haha yeah I know 1100 isn't a lot of vertical, but I can always build another cabinet it is easy enough, and just transplant all the components. The spec sheet isn't that crazy actually, its not all that expensive either - you just have to know a little about programming arduino and some linux. I actually just finished doing the databases this weekend and the sensors and stuff are all working. I got it all through a friend in the UK. The local prices are just retarded. What is your lighting budget?

Guys, If you aren't already you should be using at least a tor browser for safety. SSL just means they can't understand what you are doing on a website. They still know you are connecting. Plus we know that anonymized data is not safe from metadata inference. They can link you to stuff by checking when you logged and map it to when you were online from a certain IP, stuff you spoke about - like perhaps you mentioned it rained some day and that rain was really localized, you post a picture with your hand in and boom they have race & gender. That is how they track people. Tor, even though not foolproof goes a long way to at least anonymizing where you are connecting from. It routes you through an anonymized network. (Which can still be traced if the exit nodes are controlled by government). There are tons of videos about it on youtube, it is usually under the topic of OpSec (operational security). DEF CON has some great presentations on it.

I am going to steal this exact design for my grow that I am planning - thank you

Yay! I have been really anxious about linking my address to anything. I am a little paranoid about OpSec so the idea of adding my address to a server that could suffer a data breach at some point has been stressing me the hell out. Admin, perhaps you should edit the forum rules now? -
Hi everyone I am starting my first grow ever. So here is a little about what I am doing, a super secret (aka phantom) cupboard grow. I have built a cabinet out of 18mm ply, painted the interior with flat white and the outside with a smooth matte grey, this thing is solid as hell and I had to get one of my guy friends to help me put it in once I had built it! My interior measurements are as follows: Internal Measurements Length (mm) 428 Width (mm) 552 Height (mm) 1100 Area (m²) 0.24 Volume (m³) 0.26 Area (ft²) 2.54 Volume(ft³) 9.18 For my venting I have: Ventilation Fans x3 Coursair ML140/120 Size (mm) 140x140x25 Speed (RPM) 400-2000 Noise (dBA) 16-37 Displacement (CFM) 20-97 Static Pressure 0.2-3 Required CFM 28 The ventilation is controlled via PWM from my controller that I am building (I will detail it below). Only on fan will be used for venting, the others will be used internally. For my lighting I have: Lighting COBs x6 Vero29 3500K Driver HLG-240H-C2100B Heatsink (mm) Active Again this will be controlled via PWM as I realise that 6x Vero 29s would be a little crazy for my tiny box. The enclosure looks really really nice too. For my controller I have: Controller Board RPi0w Sensors: 1x Waterproof DS18B20 3x DHT22 2x Moisture Sensors The controller is a raspberry pi zero wireless, it is connected to my home network and will run its own protected web server that I can log in to and see exactly what my parameters are at that time and their history. It will measure: Humidity and temperature sensors to monitor the top and bottom of the box as well as the room it is in (DHT22 sensors) Temperature of the soil via the DS18B20 Everything will get logged and graphed so I can see exactly what is happening. Venting: This will allow me to do control the box really well I can measure the humidity and temp inside the box and determine fan speed to compensate. I can tell what the temp/humidity of the box is compared to the external temp, venting speed, light intensity, moisture of soil etc which will allow me to further finetune. Watering: I can also measure the moisture content of the soil to determine when to water. With an auto-cycle for rinsing every 4 weeks or so. Water will be RO water (just makes it so much easier to control its parameters, easy to pH balance and remineralise) To that end I have a reservoir with a pump and an auto doser for nutrient dosing (which will happen in an intermediate reservoir). I plan to pump up to a gravity fed reservoir that drains over 30-60min. Internal fans: Not sure how much there is to here, but I think maybe oscillate them alternatively? Odor control: Carbon filter. This is going to be a bit weird because I am going to mount it external to save space on my internal. Inlet: Passive with a light trap & filter. Medium & Pot: For my grow medium I am going to go with a coco peat/perlite mix in a smart pot (wide and shallow to help with height) on a ribbed tray for draining. Runoff will be gathered and given to my non stealth plants! For nutrients I will just use the EHG range. Strain: I really want to do NL #5 x HAZE, but I think as it is my first grow I will go with whatever I can get my hands on Method: SCROG I still need to order my seeds, pot & media, build my SCROG, carbon filter, cut the venting holes, find filters for the intakes and build the light traps. I have plenty of time to get everything setup correctly and tested.

I am building my own COBs too. Here is my specs: Heatsink Enclosure: Black anodized 50x15cm active heatsink with hanging kit Driver: 1x HLG-240H-C2100B Cobs: 3x VERO 29 SE 3500K With a 10v PWM controller (RPiZero) Might be a little overkill for my 110cm tall cabinet lol, but it is already ordered.

Yeah it is quite easy for Arduino and stuff. You don't need to be a dev to get it to work. Haha and also I am more of a brorella

Hey @Brown-dawg, Haha I am trying to be:yipeeee There are a few online shops that sell DHT11 or DHT22 sensors which are temp/hum sensors. You can also get the moisture sensors there. Like RSOnline, NetRam, PiShop, MicroRobotics etc. I am using an Arduino UNO WiFi (testing on the UNO R3). I have a RPi3 which will has an MQTT broker on it with Grafana and inlfuxDB for logging. Thing is that I find Pi's GPIO's don't play as well with the sensors as the Arduino's. Lord knows I'd rather write this in python or c#. So I will use the Arduino for monitoring/control and it will push the data to the RPi3 which can log it all for me so I can have pretty graphs of exactly what is happening. Here are some pics: (I didn't have a banana so I used a can of spray and cook for scale) Also, I added a nifty little lock.

You need a job in the UK, we always looking for HVAC Engineers hahaha Haha if only i had a degree. Only a project manager at the moment. I can do everything. But the boss needs to sign it off. Best part of the job is i get inline & silent fans at a much lower price than what grow shops around here charge. They Mark up about 70-80%. You should hook us up! I am a jack of many trades. Most of them seem to be ones men are usually found in . I have an IT/Engineering background.

My cab is all nicely painted and ready for assembly. Which is going to be a headache seeing as it is 25mm ply. Planning on sealing the joints with white silicone. I am adding recessed layer of weatherproofing foam strip inside that the door will press against to make a good seal. So far I have spent around 3k getting everything prepped, however that includes tools I can use on subsequent builds. I will be putting a pair of Vero 29 3500k LEDs on 140mm pin heatsink (passive cooling) up in there with a dimmable driver. I will be running them at 50%. The programming of the controller is almost complete, I just need to to test it in the cab. Essentially I have a humidity and temp sensor. If the humidity or temp goes above the threshold the controller increases the RPMs on the fans incrementally until the fall within the desired parameters. It will always operate at a minimum of 3-5 cab volume a minute. It will also always ramp down to the lowest setting to achieve the parameters. I will also be adding moisture sensors to the soil so I can control watering auto-magically. I will be adding the nutrients in correct quantities to a blackout container that will have an internal pump managed by the controller. I was thinking of adding a camera into the canopy of the cab so I can monitor growth without actually be at home or opening the cab. Light cycles will again be also be managed via the controller, although in this case it is very simple. Still to do: Order seeds Order pots & tray Order lights Get ducting Build light-trap intake Measure and cut out venting Research nutrients & soil parameters.

Brb just need to make a few posts. Kidding aside this would be great!

Mostly by venting, however if it becomes an issue I can always add dehumidifying media!

Hello everyone, I am in the stages of building my first closet grow. I don't smoke very often, but I love the process of growing. And I will be very happy to be smoking my own work! This is not my first time growing things - I have grown a lot of stuff over the years so I am not a newbie when it comes to everything. My space is quite small, 450 x 500 x 1200 (W x L x H). I have built a cabinet out of 24mm ply wood and painted it. The inside is a nice clean matte white. I will have passive intake via a light trap and a stealth exhaust venting out the roof. I am planning on going scrog, with coco in cloth pots for my first grow. I reeeeeally want to do a Northern Lights #5 x Haze plant. I am in the process of building a controller to control my entire grow box. It will control the exhaust and internal fans depending on temp/humidity and CO2 levels It will control watering via moisture sensors & humidity It will control my lighting too. Nute dosing will be manual for a while, I will add auto dosing on the next grow I think. It will log all the variables so I can tell exactly what was happening at any one time in my grow. With my fans I will be able to turn over my entire box's air 2x - 10x depending on the above. I'd lower that to 1x - 5x with carbon filter and ducting. I have tracked my spending on the cabinet so far [including the controller but excluding the fans, I had those already](I have a little project document lol) and I am sitting at around 2k. I had to buy some equip for the build that hit me for another 1k or so, but I will use it again. I could have gone for a tent, but firstly they come in standard sizes, secondly I can hide my cabinet in plain sight - super stealth compared to a tent. I have some questions however, living in Africa sure does have it's own challenges. I have a few questions: 1. Can I grow all year round with the crazy summer temps of 40c outside? My house isn't that well insulated. 2. Where can I get LED lights? And what would you guys recommend that is locally available? 2.1 Where do you guys generally get your stuff from in SA for growing, is there a GOTO? 3. Do I really have to import the NL #5 x Haze seeds? Are there none available locally? 4. How much scent does NL produce during flower? Will carbon filter eliminate the odor? 5. If I vent straight up and out the house, with good negative pressure in the box will smell be eliminated or will it stink around my house? 6. I know the plant I want to grow can get quite tall, but I feel like with a good scrog and controlled vegging I can manage it, opinions? <!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}--><!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->
