Guest Brett
So i started out with a computer box grow, which i realized is not worth the time. My new grow is 420 by 480 by 1m. Have it inside my cupboard. Used 75% soil, 25 % orchid potting mix. Seeds are skunk from my last smoke from a mate by the sea. Has citrus flavor when smoked. I don't have any fans going at the moment, just opening closing the door for an hour each day for air circulation. I have 4 23w CFL with space for 4 more, have a sliding roof to control heat/humidity ( not clued up at all bout humidity ) but learning each day. My baby's are 5 days old today, haven't fed any nutes, going to wait till end of week 2 for nutes. Box is made of white maisonite which they seem to like, they look very happy to me so going to continue as I am.Any comments/suggestions are more than welcome. To Cheers guys n gals... Justin Hemp
I'll follow alone. As a seedling they don't need much, so after a few weeks what type of nutrients are you looking at? Where about in SA r u? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Justin Hemp
One more thing, what Kelvin r the CFL? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Duracell
The little rascals look happy I like your grow box, but I would at least put a small computer fan in there for air circulation inside the box. In summer you may need an extractor fan to keep the heat down. I'm busy with my first grow (hydro) and I have to AC my grow area to keep the water temperature down. Justin Hemp
You wanna look at the NPK values on the feed, during veg you want to have a high nitrogen value and during flower not so much nitrogen but more Potassium. So have a look into that if you doing soil you could feed compost tea with a animal shit in it that are high in Nitrogen with some molasses and a few micro nutrients you can find around, look around at some compost tea on the net along with sprout teas. Added to that make sure you have a good soil mix with good aeration. With regards to the Kelvin of the lights you should be using the +/- 6500k bulbs during veg and the +/- 3000k ones during flower. Don't add up the Kelvin. Here is a pic of a 6400k cfl Good luck Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Justin Hemp
I only use the cfl for seedling and a bit of veg. I haven't used the hydrangea feed yet. The cfl can be bought at China Town at Century City branch only, they seem to be agent for a lighting company Called Ausma in Montague Gardens. If you not in cape town perhaps give them a shout on the Kempston park number. Only can find the Kempton park number. Guest Brett
So where to begin. My box is 420 by 540 by 1m, 4 23w CFL 6400 k, 2 comp fans and sits in my cupboard. I used bag seed not sure what it was as I didn't keep a journal due to a back op so this grow took a backseat to everything else that was going on in my life. What I do remember about it was the lovely citrus aroma and flavor which is what I liked as well as the well being that followed. So being my 2nd attempt and due to space restrictions I went with topping and LST which I have only read about but wanted to give a go in order to achieve more colas...... I started out with 6 seeds out of which 2 were females ( gave 1 away due to space ) and she is now 2 months and 3 weeks according to my calendar, when the seeds sprouted. Totally butchered my plant but it is a learning curve which has been fun. I topped at the second node why I don't know, but I'm learning... Now that I'm able to do physical activities ( limited to what my back lets me) I have built a new box which is 2m up,1.2 length and 600mm wide. Going to go with CFLs again till I've had a cpl grows under my belt then I'll look to better lighting. It will have 2 pc fans (inlet and exhaust) and a 23 inch desk fan inside. Box is white maisonite inside which is what I used for my first box. With this new grow I am going to keep a journal here and written.... My apologies for the long story but here's some pics of my little dwarf and the new box... PS and I repotted her today which I prob shouldn't have but you live and learn. Guest Brett
Good morning and a merry morning it shall be.... So smoked for years, but 1st time growing and I feel I must apologise as I thought it would be easy to do grow log but I ignored it and didn't follow through with it and now I need help I come grovelling and repentant. I do have a second grow started in a new setup which I will start a new weekly log as I'm in love with my new found love. Ok so it's bag seed which was a lovely puff, she is in final week of flower ( I think ) 2nd month flower, day 50. The last 4 days she has really spurted ( length of first thumb joint ) I was going to cut her, but after following most everyone's grows, I'm thinking she might be going a bit longer due to landrace and sativa traits by looking at others. Soil was potting mix from a nursery, food has been Seagro and Blackstrap molasses all the way so far, added 5ml banana to the mix today which has steeped for cpl days... I've never done ph or any of that, but I'm happy... Been following 420sa since I started this grow and loving all the info, CerealKilla[/member] I stumbled across your project Alice yesterday - you sir are my HERO...:rastabanana Anyway pics as follows minus half courtesy of my impatient brother. Oh and last pics is of trichs as close as I could, but can't see lekker...
CG420za
Awe, shot Barticle[/member]. If you're planning to grow with CFL's on your next run, I'd strongly suggest you grow using the SCROG technique. That way you'll get the most out of your lighting. Guest Brett
@cerealkilla, yes I will definitely Scrog in my next attempt. But that is going to be a separate log. At the moment I'm just waiting patiently to see what my original lady is going to do... Cheers for the reply...
