420SA
Quick Update I'm FINALLY switching to flower today So that makes today Flower Day 1. Light has been off since 12 last night and will kick into it's 12/12 schedule starting 8 tonight. Want to ensure the light is on during the night to keep the heat levels down. Also planned it around my areas load shedding schedule... So basically I'm going to start off flowering the B2B, TBH & AMS in the tent. I've moved the two clones and seedlings to my veg cab(Will post up pics soon) When those plants are ready to flower I'm going to move them into the tent too. Here are the 3 ladies(hoping the TBH is a fem) Plant Heights: B2B - 52cm TBH - 48cm AMS - 35cm

Toby
Nice going there admin. Exciting times ahead. Thanks @Maxwell. I would assume the 200 setting for 150w and the 300 setting for the 250w?
Guest Maxwell
I hope so, cos that's how I had it configured.

420SA
I have a question regarding Nutriplex. Been a concern of mine for quite some time during this current grow. I seem to be getting really low PPM's when I mix the nutes into water. I just mixed 4ml gro 6ml micro and 7.5ml bloom into 5 litres of water and only got a ppm reading of 556... does that sound normal to those who have used Nutriplex? I'm following the chart and I get really low ppms when I follow it. Always have to add a lot more. Either my TDS meter is stuffed or my nutriplex is watered down
Guest Maxwell
Well for a start bloom is going to give you higher resistance cos of the P and K. I haven't really noticed, but it could be either I suppose. I am not sure how to trouble-shoot. Perhaps someone with the same meter and Nutri can do a test? Totemic
I use the nutriplex range now, and I have also noticed low ppm readings. I have however resisted pushing the ppm, and have stuck to the provided schedule, and it's working great. At full strength Veg feeding I get 650ppm, and I'm not expecting it to go over 1200ppm in flower. I also go more by what the plant is telling me, and even with these low ppm readings, the plants are growing and responding real well. Much better than pushing normal AB + MPK nutes at high ppm's. 420SA
If you look at some of my updates you'll see that some of the plants do look underfed, only once I started bumping up my PPM's to risky high levels did I see proper results, especially on the B2B and the AMS. I took a bit of a risk on Monday and fed the AMS with a ppm of 994 which is quite high for its relatively small size of 35cm right? Now it's looking great with a nice healthy dark green, no signs of nute burn as well. Check the feeding schedule attached. I got it off Grow Guru's site, the PPM's indicated there don't correlate with what I've been seeing, but then that could be a different TDS meter Nutriplex_feeding_chart.xlsx
Guest Maxwell
Guys, it is time to forget what you think you know about ppm/TDS. Largely these numbers are useless. You NEED to look at your EC reading rather. Go by the feeding schedule and plant, then EC. If you do a little research you can find general charts for EC and not ppm. All ppm is a conversion for stupid people. All ppm readings are based on either a conversion rate based on KCl or NaCl. Neither of which are going to account for all of the minerals and elements in the solution. The idea is that if you have pure water, with 1000ppm of NaCl, your EC should be 1.4, as that is the Conductivity of the salt. Now when we start adding a lot of different nutrients, the conversion ratio goes out the window because each mineral or salt will have a unique Conductivity factor. Use some research and a bit of common sense. Different stages of growth require different ratios of minerals and so feed accordingly, using EC as a guideline. Veg = More growth/Nitrogen based Bloom = More fruiting/P and K based. Transition = More mobile elements/Ca and Mg. Jomo!
Dabtzar
And remember guys.. Different strains want different ratios of nutes. So don't be surprised if some take higher ppms than others.
420SA
Update at Day 9 of Flower(12/12) The plants are stretching out really nicely. Especially the AMS which has grown 21cm in the last week! Both the TBH and the AMS are confirmed females. Very glad the TBH is a fem as it was a reg seed...HOWEVER... the B2B which was meant to be a fem is almost definitely showing signs of being a male which I'm extremely disappointed about as I definitely wanted a strong sativa in my lineup. Luckily it was a freebie... Perhaps someone can confirm that it's a male in the photo below, apologies for the poor quality, I couldn't get the camera to focus in this instance. Guest Maxwell
Freebies are such hit and miss. I have got the most amazing freebies, true winner pheno's. Then I have got absolute duds. 420SA
Will be giving an update after week 2 on my grow soon. For now I thought I'd share what's happening outside my flower tent. I've basically finished up my veg cab now. Took quite a while with time being minimal as well as the necessary funding but it's just about done. Just need to get an oscillating fan in there. I have 2 x 85w CFL's running in the cab with a 4 inch extractor fan exhausting it. I do plan to replace those CFL's with a 150w HPS in the near future. Here's what I've got cooking in the cab 1 x Thunderbud Haze Clone 1 x Jack Herer (GHS) 1 x Damnesia (GHS) 1 x Bubba Kush (GHS) 1 x Cheese Clone 1 x Training Day Clone One might mistake me for being a GHS fan lol ... which isn't the case at all! Basically I have a friend who bought a whole bunch of their seeds which is why I'm growing these out. From this experience I thinks it's safe to say that I won't spend any further money on their genetics as it really is a gamble. I've lost an AMS, Kings Kush(Still alive but basically useless) and the Bubba kush in the cab is looking ill. So yea no more GHS after this! Once these plants are large enough they will go into the flower tent to join the rest. I got the training day clone and the cheese clone from a mate. The training day somehow started flowering at my mate's so whether that plant will re-veg nicely waits to be seen. Here's some pics of the cab... The extraction port. Excuse my hole making, I don't have the right tools so I had to carve it out in a sense On a final note. Here's what I have growing outside... This is the clone of the AMS flowering outside now Here's that sad old Kings Kush which is still at it's tiny size but started flowering... Toby
Nice going there and some nice strains too. Im envious, lol How you managing the temps? Does your cab have a door?
420SA
Nice going there and some nice strains too. Im envious, lol How you managing the temps? Does your cab have a door? Yes it does have a door. Temps seem to be managing fine with the addition of the extractor fan. The temp sits at about 29 on an average heat day. Today its sitting at 31 but the outside temp is 39!
