Bag seeds (white widow & cali orange) for trade/free - CT

I've got some bag seeds that I'd be happy to trade for pretty much any seeds/clones but also I'd be happy to give them to other newbie growers to get you started. (Personally I found buying good quality seeds for my first grow a bit daunting, as it is so expensive and I was expecting to screw quite a few things up 😛).

I've got about 9 packs of 5 seeds of the WW and also 9 packs of 5 seeds of CO. I think 5 seeds per pack should give you a reasonable chance of getting at least one female after any germination issues / getting rid of males. NB these are bag seeds so its possible none germinate for you. However I've grown the WW and CO from this batch of bag seeds and got some really healthy females.

I'm in Cape Town (work near CTCC, live around the Bloubergstrand area), though I can probably post if needed.

Anyway I'd be thrilled to help someone out, and it would be a bonus if there was a trade as well but that's not required. Shout if anyone is interested.

@highchome hey dude, i would definitely like to get some more of those from you, the others i got didn't pop, still got 2 of each strain left though.

Will drop them straight to soil and see if that maybe works better.

The White widow clones are doing splendid, thanx for them.

i can give you 2 plants for them (both in vegging already)or if you want a bag of lem skunk seeds instead(20+seeds).

Do you have any new clones?

@Bospatrollie2 where you at dude?

i would mind trading some seeds with too, that Swazi x Mango "haze" sounds very interesting.

i currently only have Lem skunk seeds, a shitload. hopefully getting some Budha cheese soon. Only got the one currently growing.

@Oolong83 crap that is not great news. How many did you try?

Last time I planted from the batch I gave you I got around 50% success. Hopefully you just got unlucky there. I should still have more seeds though. I'll look tonight and DM you.

Also it looks like I need to start getting more serious about trying to make feminised seeds from the clones I have. Then at least I'll have some reasonable quality seeds to share.

OK, this got my attention. how do you do that? sounds interesting and fun.

I've never done it myself but I want to after the competition is done. Afaik you use colloidal silver to force a female plant to produce pollen. Then pollinate another (same?) female with that pollen. The seeds will then all be female.

But I've not read up much yet

Try find the highest PPM when you get colloidal silver @Trailblazer420 has had success with 20ppm.

Also best to reverse one plant (put the colloidal silver on it to get it to produce balls and pollen) and then use that pollen to pollinate another plant, this is a better practice in terms of genetics and such I believe.

Instead of Colloidal Silver you can use STS (Silver Thiosulfate Solution) as well, although it is a bit pricier for the chemicals needed and a bit more tricky to work with. It only needs to be sprayed once every 5 days and since you mix the ratios yourself, can be made stronger.

I personally will be trying it with STS, have the chemicals just waiting for some auto's to reach the right age and then will mix up a batch and start spraying.

Thanks PsyCLown, where do you usually get colloidal silver or STS? I've done a very quick search and can't find much about STS and only low ppm colloidal silver (~18ppm)

Colloidal silver can be from Dischem.

STS, I purchased from ACE Chemicals in Joburg.

It's Silver Nitrate and Sodium Thiosulphate... Silver nitrate is not cheap with 25g costing just under R600 although you don't use much so it will last quite a long time.

Check out these posts to learn a bit more.

The issue with the CS is that it's not as reliable I've read, if you get lower ppm then even more so I'd imagine.

Although as mentioned, Trailblazer seems to be having some luck it seems but not confirmed 100% just yet.

@Oolong83 @Bospatrollie2, I put three of my remaining White Widow seeds into water yesterday morning and by this morning I had one with a small root and another just starting to crack. So I'm hoping you'll have some luck too. I did keep the water at ~25C, using a small fish tank heater, perhaps that helped? I'll move them out into paper towel now (I'd usually go to jiffies but I want to watch how they do).

I've changed my germination method slightly as I believe the ''paper towel'' part cost me some beans in the past. This is personal opinion.

12-24hr soak in water
Staight into seedling trays with compost
(Water with AACT- I suspect the microflora are crucial at this stage)
Keep trays indoor for warmth, transfer outside as soon as the emerge.
Last two batches 100% germ rate.

Will run this method on the w/w and c/o end of the month.

I prefer the paper towel method, I prefer to watch it sprout and then into soil works well.

When I tried rapid rooters they weren't ideal as the roots sometimes struggled to get through the rooter, although they do differ compared to jiffy pellets. I've read quite a few people have germination issued with jiffys though.

The seeds have turned out to be fairly low quality very few to none are germinating now. So I'm afraid I've got none to share / trade for anyone seeing this thread going forward
Popped 16 beans (4x4 strains) of which 4 were WW and 4 were CO. Only 2 of each made it above ground 50%, other 2 strains got 4 out of 4. 2x CO are doing great but seems the 2 remaining WW are struggling.
I'm not too stressed, its how the cookie crumbles
Peace
