Ill_Evan
Hey peeps, So I'm busy trying to decide on how I can efficiently expand my grow space. I currently have a 80x80x180 tent and 400W HID lighting system. Plus the 6 inch exhaust system and carbon filter. My idea is to use the current tent as a veg tent with a mother plant in it, and get a slightly bigger tent as a flowering tent, for the sake of the post lets say a 120x70x165 is what I would look at. Throw the 400W HPS in the big tent and also the exhaust system with filter. The veg tent will mostly grow plants from seed and occasionally clones, and then predominantly to hold a mother plant. The question is, what can I do for the veg tent? Possibly a series of CFL's supported along each corner of the tent? Just pop a second ballist and run the 400W MH in there? I'm sort of against the latter, as I don't want to chow more power than I currently am. In future, I wouldn't mind replacing the HID system with a QB, but that's for another time. My knowledge on CFLs is limited so I'm not sure how many or which ones would possibly do the job, or if they could even do the job at all. Any knowledge would be super appreciated. PsyCLown
I personally wouldn't use CFL's for more than clones / seedlings. CFL's are very inefficient for the power they consume. Even then I'd rather look at those LED tubes you get at Makro and other shops - something like this for clones / seedlings: https://lumenpower.co.za/2ft-st8v-0-6m-8w-830-warm-white-230v-em-552677.html?cat=49877 I'd look at either LED's or HID, I prefer LED's so that would be my first choice. What you think about the Nova S4 for this situation? [https://gthydro.co.za/products/417-nova-led-s4-180w.html]
Pat999
I'd say get yourself one or two QBs. My veg tent is 1.2*1.2*2.0 and I use 2 of the QBs pulling 60w each. Covers the tent fullySent from my G3312 using Tapatalk 2
Ill_Evan
Schweet will check them out. The consensus I'm getting is a solid nope on CFL This looks sweet: [https://www.hydroherbafrica.co.za/product/hlg-light-65/] Or maybe it's bigger brother? [https://www.hydroherbafrica.co.za/product/hlg-light-100/] The HLG 100 rates it's the equivalent of a 200W MH which is about exactly what I'd need imo. PsyCLown
I have 6x QB 288 v2's (the chinese clones of the HLG's) and they are great! Plenty of power, I do not run them at their max capacity though, no need to and they are more efficient when run at lower power. I have also not heard great things about Hydro Herb, heard of more than one forum member having issues with them - not to mention the original HLG products are not cheap.

I've bought my HID lighting from Hydro Herb, no problem and pretty breezy experience although I did go physically there Alibaba here I come
