Growing for Seeds (With STS)

So I guess I should do an update, right?

Pollen certainly took, it seems as if the seeds are starting to form and the bud is fattening up too on the Daquari Lime auto.

As for the Charlottes Angel, still no signs of flowering... So I took a few cuttings and popped them into my bubble cloner. They're getting seriously bushy, I did not take any pics of the Charlottes Angel. I also stopped with the STS spray on the Charlottes Angel as I am not seeing any pistils and would like some bud formation before I get some pollen.

Hahaha, I was actually thinking about it. I need to do an update on these sometime, right?

Well, I will take some pics when I get a chance to. The Charlottes Angels cannot be autoflowers despite what the packet says. Still no signs of pistils (or pollen sacs).

They have really messed me around as I cannot flower them at the moment, so they continue to grow. I am trying to keep them a reasonable size, although struggling to do so. Trying to feed less nutes and have been doing some serious defoliation and topping.

The Daq Lime with seeds is doing well, it's been flowering for a while now. Trichomes still all clear, so typical of a sativa - it will take longer to flower. The seeds I do not think are ready yet either, so perhaps I get lucky and can harvest at the same time for perfectly mature seeds along with perfectly mature trichomes! The seeds will take preference. The bud has fattened up quite nicely and I am curious to see what I yield dry consider the seeds and that she is such a small autoflower plant (the one I sprayed with STS was big).

I will try snap some pics and post when I get the chance to, hopefully later this week.

Awesome. Looking forward to that update pics. Always fun to see.

For some reason I can't post a reply on your thread "PsyCLown".

Odd, I saw your thread where you had this issue.

I assume it is some permissions, I am sure @420SA can take a look and resolve the issue. Did you join the indoor grow off club? Perhaps that is the reason why you cannot reply?

So since you asked soo nicely Mr Smelly, here are some pics!

The two Charlottes Angels before defoliation (they had a serious defoliation around a week ago)... The leaves got burnt from the pyrol / neem spray I did as I could not do it at lights out:

After defoliation:

Some pics of the Daquari Lime, she is doing mighty fine. I took a seed from her the other day, certainly not ready.

Now to try give you an idea on the size difference between the Charlottes Angel and the Daquari Lime... This is what happens when you get a photoperiod instead of an autoflower and you need to keep her vegging until you have space in your flower tent. I am underfeeding her and keep having to top and defoliate the charlottes angel to keep them in check.

Holy shit dude. That auto is looking epic....

It sucks about that plant being a non auto.....whats your plan with her

As soon as I get space in my flower tent, I will put both the Charlottes Angels inside, spray the one with STS to get pollen and then pollinate the other for more seeds.

I have already taken cuttings of the Charlottes angels and they have rooted, so I have some cuttings in soil now.

I really don't mind that it is not an auto, I just wish I knew beforehand. If I had known it was a photoperiod, I probably would not have purchased the CBD Critical Mass seed and I'd have a Charlotte's Angel plant inplace of the CBD CM in my flower tent.

I saw it, and looked into it briefly too although the CBD content is lower than the Charlottes Angel.

Ringo's is around 10% where the Charlottes Angel is 15%, seems you can even get CBD upto 21% on the Charlottes Angel.

Both have THC below 1%

The Ringo's Gift also sounds like a smaller plant, being rated at upto 350g/m2 where other plants are around 650 / 700g/ m2

Thanks @PsyCLown, I've just ordered some Charlottes Angel fem seeds. Can't wait to give them a try

Perhaps there should be a recommended strain thread

Quick update on the Daq Lime auto.

I took a look at a seed and it's practically ready, so I will most likely flush this weekend and then harvest in 2 weeks or so.

The plant itself is looking decent and I am very impressed with the bud size for such a small plant.

That is impressive! I think it just convinced me to do my next flower with almost no veg time. Very good looking plant there
I wouldn't really advise that, but give it a go.

It's an autoflower as well. It's also meant to be a big plant, my other seed got really tall before flowering.

Sorry, don't want to hijack the thread. Just wanted to say, I want to try that for two reasons. Firstly just to see how it turns out 😛 and secondly to see quickly determine the gender so I can clone the females.

I've done many 12 12 from seed grows. It's fun and rewarding sometimes.

I'm contemplating doing something similar for some other plants I want to reverse with STS although I still need to wait just as long for it to flower... So I might as well let it veg a bit longer and get better yield.

I have the height so a taller plant isn't problematic.

So I may decide to harvest this weekend, when I looked at the trichomes on Friday evening there was a fair bit of amber already...

Soo, I will pick a few more seeds this weekend and then if they look good I will harvest her this weekend.
You mean harvest him...?

No, her...

Only females make bud and only females will make seeds.

Males only give you pollen, which then needs to get onto the females in order for seeds to be created.

So I had 2x female autos, I then sprayed the one with STS which is a chemical which suppresses (stops) the production of ethylene which leads to the female plant growing pollen sacs (similar to a hermie, but not due to stress - it's due to the chemicals).

Then take that pollen from the plant and use it on the other, untouched female plant, which is what you see above.

I then killed the plant I had sprayed with STS, it becomes useless as I wouldn't use the bud as Sts is very toxic and I already have pollen and don't want the rest of my females to become pollinated.

Once a plant has been pollinated, its focus becomes the seeds and not so much the bud and trichomes. So yield decreases and potency too.
