Guest grunterfish86
What's everyone's thoughts on potting up to the final pot and going straight into 12/12 ? What happens to the roots during that initial 2 week stretch ? Surely it would like the extra space to stretch out into ? Or would there be to much shock ? I Read somewhere that there's a benefit to potting up multiple times through out a grow, whats your guys thoughts?
Guest Maxwell
I would argue sizing up to finishing container at least a week before flipping, give the roots a chance to settle before the stress.
Dabtzar
I veg my ladies till the desired height, then when I repot them into there final pot they go into flower. I feel they still do veg a bit during the transition from veg to flower. But yes, its probably a good idea to let them veg for say a week in the new containers before flipping. Dammit now that I think of it, thats why my root balls werent massive as usual from my last grow. That or i just had a bad run with salt build-up/ heat issues/ bad genetics? Ive just started a new run with all these factors taken care of. lets see how it goes.
Green Leaf Organics
Personally my ladies live in 3 different size home. Clones go into 1l pots to settle,, then 10l pots for veg and finally 35l pots a week before flower. Cheers Reaf
Guest Maxwell
Some trees you got going Reaf Nice sizing! for hydro/soilless I have read smaller is better, especially with coco.
Totemic
My plants start in 1l pots, transplant at about 3 weeks into 12l, and 2 weeks before flower into 35l pots at least. outdoors if the plant is going to stay in a pot, I plant the seed directly into its finishing pot, 65l is what I like for outdoors. 420SA
for hydro/soilless I have read smaller is better, especially with coco. I go for a final pot of 20l for coco. Is that too much?
Guest Maxwell
Yeah I think 10/15 is better. I'm reading that coco likes smaller space to fully utilise the high CEC.
