I took a couple more pics tonight to check out the trichomes again. These were the clearest out of all the pics. Couple ambers here and there I rate. I think I will at the very least be taking these girls to the end of this month.

Definitely! Hoping to get way more yield than last time  although I haven't come close to fully utilising the full space of the tent. This will be the next grow's goal.

This will be easier if you are only using a single method of growing (for example, just using coco instead of a mix of coco, soil & DWC).

I harvested the one outdoor Skywalker OG today. I discovered aphids doing their thing on some of the bottom buds. Luckily I had already let the medium dry out and had completed a 48 hour dark cycle as I was planning on harvesting it today anyways.

Performed ye olde bud wash for the first time. Didn't feel to weird to do, especially knowing those aphids were about to eat schit.

Harvest Day

Today was the day, well rather this morning  the tent has been in a dark cycle since yesterday, so I've taken all the soil plants out and saving the long dark for the DWC plants. I'll be doing those tomorrow morning.. pray for me. 

Here are the plants harvested today:

Overall I'm pretty stoked with the soil grow. They definitely could have benefitted from a longer veg period. I got a few very chunky buds from the main colas and barely any popcorn nugs. Most of the buds even on the bottom were pretty much developed, so I'm happy with that. The extra week or so was a good idea. 

Aromas are pretty strong, felt like chopping onions at some point with the terpenes making my eyes water a bit. 

I am a believer of soil after this experience... might need to change my answer to the poll of whether or not beginners should start with soil  it really felt so much simpler than pure hydro  although the past experience and knowing what to look for also really helped. Also, quality soil and quality nutes is a must I feel. 

Now just to do a coco grow and I've done the Big 3 Mediums. Maybe then I'll try finally focus on maximizing yield  there is a lot of space yet to be filled in this tent.

Yessir, did the hydro plants same time as the potted plants. Just drying them now and then will weigh and jar probably within the next few days

I weighed and jarred the 4 indoor soil plants; no training, all under a single 240W QB running at 200W at max. 

3x Skywalker OG - 88g

1x Aurora Indica - 26g

Total: 114g

This was my first attempt with soil and I'm pleased with the result. I already knew the soil plants could have gone way longer in veg but I was forced to flip them early as the hydro plants were getting too far ahead. 

Overall it was a breeze growing in soil. I think coming from hydro allowed me to avoid a lot of rookie errors like overwatering or feeding too soon. I learnt quite a bit and I think I am prepared to give coco a go as a nice in-between of soil and hydro. 

I am going to let the hydro plants dry a few more days and then weigh and jar.

The hydro is jarred, coming in at a cool 171g

The buds are kinda airy though, many many popcorn buds too. This also happened with the last Green Smoke Room Seeds strain I grew. I won't be buying into their genetics again. 

That brings the total harvest to 285g

Definitely the most I've ever yielded in one grow, but also pretty min considering the space and power used. I think it's an easy one to beat and I'll be attempting that in the next grow.

The buds have been curing for about 2 and a half weeks now. They have dried well and are all a pretty smooth smoke with each having their own traits. 

Skywalker OG (Soil)

Definitely the strongest of the lot. Very spicy smoke and a heavy hitter to the head. I call it my "night-night" weed. Does not make for a very productive day and I would suggest as a pain killer or for insomnia. Great stuff for recovery or balms/tinctures. I made both a shea butter balm, vegetable glycerin and coconut oil. Super stuff. 

Aurora Indica (Soil)

The best all-rounder. Fruity smooth smoke for anytime of the day. Very indica and body hitting, but not so much that you're couchlocked. Not so heavy on the head. Definitely has the best aroma of the bunch. 

Pink Mango Gelato (Hydro)

The buds came out very airy unfortunately. What it does not have in bag appeal it makes up for in flavour. It is the tastiest smoke of the bunch and a heavy hitter. Hints of vanilla are noticeable when the jar is opened and the smoke is also light and sweet. Very frosty, but airy buds. 

 

I rate that pretty much ends the grow. Been a fun one and the bud is being thoroughly enjoyed  thanks for following and I'll keep the updates going on the next one.

This pink mango gelato bud, I just started flowering this one. The plant looks good and has good structure but you say it gives airy buds ey? This is the same seeds from GSR???

Indeed sir. This is the same GSR strain. I have now done two different GSR strains and have gotten airy buds twice. It hasn't stopped me from popping another GSR strain in my new grow though. I believe I can get it right but I probably won't grow any GSR strains after this one.

Ahh that’s disappointing. And around where did you land up ending flowering? Says 6 - 8 weeks? So nothing like the image? ☝
