John Stonedwell
Hi folks. So I've been following the forum and learnt a lot from fellow growers. This will be my second indoor run so I thought I might as well start a little grow diary. I have a thing for running different strains and trying to experience some of the fire genetics on offer. So in this cycle I will be running the following: Wedding Gelato - Royal Queen Seeds Purple Queen - Royal Queen Seeds Upper Cut - Oni Seeds Glookies - Barney's Farm Old School - Ripper Seeds Franco's Lemon Cheese - GHSC Chocolate Haze - Royal Queen Seeds *(Back up)* I started germination on the 19th of September with all 6 feminised seeds going straight into peat pellets. No water or wet paper towels for me, I have had 100% germination success with seeds straight into pellets. For some reason I feel handling the seed less during germination might be better. That being said... during the transplant from pellet to pot I accidentally broke the tap root of the Franco's lemon cheese in half.. It seems like the lady started growing sideways and when I removed the pellet from the tray the tap root snapped in half with that said a Chocolate Haze went into a peat pellet as reserve and I transplanted the broken Franco's with the hope of recovery. To my surprise Franco's started growing a new tap root without any cotelydon showing yet. So nursing her back to health now. I cut of the gaas from the peat pellets before transplanting to the final pot as I feel some of the gaas might stunt root growth by not allowing easy penetration through the meshy material. So today will be day 9 since germination and I am seeing some nice 2nd set of leaves developing. I also did a soil tup up today to get some of that stem shooting some extra roots. I will be running a full mainline training exercise in 20l pots on all the ladies bar those that might not like the High Stress Training so much. Looking forward to sharing the experience and getting some experienced growers to impart some knowledge. 19th September 23rd September 28 September

John Stonedwell
So we are 15 days in since the 6 seeds were dropped in peat pellets. All the ladies are rooting very nicely. Franco's lemon cheese is almost there but not sure whether this shock early on will stunt the rest of her growth? The back up Chocolate Haze germinated successfully and was transplanted during the week. Still just sticking to very light watering every 2nd or 3rd odd day. Hoping the inherent nutes in the soil will last for 3 to 4 odd weeks. Stand out lady is already identified as Glookies. Super fast growth and very very tight node spacing. John Stonedwell
So 22 days in I am very happy with the growth. But I am starting to see some issues with my wedding gelato. Not sure whether it is wind burn or the fact that I didn't PH balance my water for the first couple of feeds? I have started feeding Worm Juice with Calmag and slight molasses with a PH range between 6.3 and 6.7. Within the next week I will consider topping some of the ladies to start the mainline training. Franco's lemon cheese was killed in action - RIP so Chocolate Haze will fill that void. One day I will do a K.I.A run for all those ladies that didn't pull through on germination. John Stonedwell
Today was the day for the first topping of the mainline run. Very sad to see bushy plants stripped to the bone all for the sake of some thick and dense ass nugs.. but nevertheless the growth rate of the ladies will see them recover in no time. Definitely the two front runners for aggressive growth and super tight node structure would be Glookies and Upper Cut. Some of the cuttings were treated with rooting powder and fixed in peat pellets to supply a mate with some clones for a run. One positive of the mainline exercise is the intense amount of clone cuttings one can take while shaping the mainline. On the negative though I feel you do lose veg time as the ladies have to recover and bulk back up before the next topping and trimming hits. Only the late entrant, Chocolate Haze, was spared for this exercise Before After
John Stonedwell
32 days since germination and most of the ladies took very well to the first topping run.. all except Wedding Gelato. I had a chat with a friend and have a slight suspicion that I might have had a bag of hot soil that I used when I potted her. She was the only lady to show drastic nutrient burn without a nutrient schedule even being applied. As awesome as the mate could be he gifted me a clone cutting to fill the void of the inevitable dying Wedding Gelato sad but let's move on.. By this weekend I will be doing the second topping on all the ladies and the first topping of the late entrant, Chocolate Haze. John Stonedwell
2nd topping done on most of the ladies. Again... the tent looks empty but all for the greater good. Overflowing with cuttings at the moment so had to make due with some DIY humidity domes Still haven't started with veg nutes as it would seem most of the bags of soil I bought was damn hot..... as you can see on the tips of the Upper Cut lady.. so only jiving with PH balanced water and some calmag. afternoon blazer
Im sure that tents gona fill up quite nicely. Less probably gona be better for not getting any PM
John Stonedwell
100% man. Less is more in this case, will still veg out decently after the next and final top but the clean up will be thorough. Had a mate that lost half of his 1×1m tent due to PM. So preventative measures are key. 1
John Stonedwell
First clone run turned out to work quite well with some nice roots showing. Upper cut is a champ with all 3 cuttings already showing extensive root structure. Glookies not far behind. The blessing in disguise is that I have a Wedding Gelato clone that rooted. So even though I lost the mother the lineage survives very lucky indeed. Upper cut Wedding Gelato Ready for the big life
John Stonedwell
Sooo. Some ladies like the mainline and some don't. Atleast 3 ladies are jamming the high stress topping and stripping of the stalks. 3rd and final top on the 3 will be done in a week or so. So for the other lovelies I will just LST to get as much exposure to the nodes as possible . Great thing is all the clone cuttings rooted and were transplanted to 15cm pots. Super cheap and very functional as it allows for light streams of water thereby not displacing too much soil and limit overwatering.
John Stonedwell
Haven't done the 3rd topping as yet but just had to share this good news from bad news. So firstly I lost the Wedding Gelato mother.. but she gave back with 3 little baby cuttings that all took root. Secondly, as I was doing the 1st top mainline training on the Chocolate Haze I took one of the mains too far and it got a small little split in the stem. Taking for the knowledge of fellow forum members and se YouTube videos I wrapped the damaged stem with insolation tape to try and limit stunting. As I was watering the clones today I saw a huge bulge forming under the tape. I took of the tape and to my surprise had a huge knuckle that formed. So from my mistake, remedied with a quick fix, I was able to do my first supercrop while still aiming to mainline that stem. Should be super interesting to compare the supercrop side growth against the normal stem. Clones also moved in to the big lady tent. John Stonedwell
So I struggled a bit with hot soil over the last couple of weeks It's so shit... going through your first grow and learning through mistakes. Then enter into the second and its a whole new list of issues that you face. But that is the joy of growing cannabis. Had a friend guide me on the best solution... flush the shit outta those pots. So the 2 ladies that struggled the most were the Old school and Chocolate Haze. They were flushed 7 days ago and the results were amazing. So I decided to flush 3 more pots yesterday as the ladies were also moaning about the soil... So it will only be 3 ladies with the 8 cola mainline. 2 ladies with an improvised flux mainline. And 1 lady with some heavy supercropping.. really excited about the supercrop bush!! I will still probably veg for about 3 to 4 weeks to get the nutrient levels nice and balanced before flower. Two Improvised flux mainline ladies: Old school before flush: 14/11 Old school after flush: 1/12 Chocolate Haze before flush: 14/11 Chocolate Haze after flush: 1/12 Three 8 cola mainline ladies: Glookies: 1/12 Purple Queen: 1/12 (Needs some N after the flush yesterday) Upper cut: 1/12 Supercrop clone:
John Stonedwell
Just a quick update on the progress the ladies are making. I did a second round flush to try and get the soil as free from excess nutrient build up as possible. I thought this might make the feeding schedule going into flower a little bit easier to ensure no lockout and less build up in the soil. I also cleaned up the ladies to try and focus growth on the primary bud sites I want to develop. Will probably flip in 3 to 4 weeks Chocolate Haze Purple Queen Old school Upper Cut Glookies Supercropped clone 20201207_192346.jpg Edited December 9, 2020 by John Stonedwell
John Stonedwell
Hi folks. So the last couple of weeks the plants enjoyed a nice little last vegetative growth spurt and showed some nice leaf colour. Hopefully the nutrient balance is now on par... I topped up the pots with a layer of fresh soil and cleaned the bottom 3rd of most of the stems to try and focus all the energy on the top bud sites. I flipped to the 12/12 light cycle yesterday so hopefully between 65 to 75 odd days I will have a healthy heavy harvest Full tent
John Stonedwell
First week into flower and the stretch is real Most of the bud sites are starting to form and I am happy with the light penetration on the canopy. I am very excited as this is the most packed tent I have had to date. I am also running some clones in the middle to utilise space and to add something something to the end yield. Might be a good indication of a possible SOG with clones for a future run. There's not a lot of training or defoliation left for me to do. Most branches have started to set so now it's all about keeping the environmental controls in line and to ensure sufficient nutrient balance.
John Stonedwell
Ooooh you just got to love flowering cannabis. It's just so cool to see the progression from growth tips to mini budlets. I finished the second week of flower and I am quite happy with the progress. Really excited to see the end yield. Hopefully 300g dry trim weight on the low end. Happy new year to all fellow growers. John Stonedwell
Hi folks. End of week 3 and I am already seeing some top heavy buds. All the plants are coming along really well and the stretch added roughly between 20cm to 35cm. I have pulled back on the seagro feeding and I am focusing now on Biobloom and Molasses. Hoping the bloom has enough N to carry them through the last 6 to 7 weeks. I am also starting to see sprinkles of tricome on the buds especially so on the Purple Queen. The next couple of weeks will be exceptionally fun Glookies Upper Cut Chocolate Haze Purple Queen Special Clone Side view tent Top view tent
John Stonedwell
Sooo I know I posted an update just a couple of days ago but DAMN... I just love flowering cannabis so I thought I would share some more pics. I take out the pots every time I water to feel the weight of the pots to determine the amount of water needed. So this gave me a great opportunity to take some 1 on 1 shots. The clones I am running in the middle of the tent have also started to show some nice Tricome build up. Super excited to see what the next couple of weeks will produce... Family photo Upper cut clones The rest of the pics will be side view followed by bud shot. John Stonedwell
Hi folks. So the flowering is coming along rather nicely and I started week 5 of flower a couple of days ago. I am very impressed and excited by the tricome build up on the Purple Queen and the Upper Cut. Happy that we kept a cut of the Upper Cut. I am already excited by the next run even though I haven't even finished up with this one.. already have the line up more or less sorted, looking at squeezing in a Twisted Helix from InHouse genetics... and after that run will try some Totemic magic.
